solo jugar (spanish edition of just playing)
Available on AmazonHi Everyone,
Welcome to Wanda Luthman’s Christian and Children’s Book Blog!
I have an incredibly special book to share with you today because it was originally published in English, but now it’s available in Spanish!!
Here’s the Amazon description of what it’s about…
” “When you ask me what I did today, and I answer, “I just played,” don’t misunderstand.
I am a child, and my work is play.”
A delightful, relatable introduction to the joys of early childhood and the very important work children do as they play. Every child will be able to relate to the fun activities illustrated in Schlaht’s book, and parents will be encouraged to know that play time is learning time.
Based on the poem, “Just Playing,” by Anita Wadley Schlaht. This book is perfect for early childhood educators as well as parents and children. Children will find it relevant and relatable; parents and educators will find encouragement in knowing the value of play in the young child.”
The poem, Just Playing, written by Anita Schlaht, Early Childhood teacher and speaker, in 1974, was published as a picture book a few years ago. It has now been translated into Spanish.
Here’s what another educator said…
“Have always loved the poem! Love that it is now in book form for teachers to share with parents and parents to read and reread as a reminder of the importance of play. The illustrations are colorful and engaging.
What a timeless message for everyone that cares about young children!”
Linda Holliman, BS Early Childhood, MS EducationEducational Consultant/Bookworks Consulting/Former Owner of Sellwood Montessori School
Thank you to Doodle and Peck Publishing for sharing this book with me. I’m glad this wonderful poem can reach more children, educators, and parents.
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and current High School Guidance Counselor, I understand developmentally how important play is in childhood. The imagination of a child needs space to be. It needs to be honored and cherished, not considered foolish. In a child’s imagination are opportunities to try out things that they dream about. If they don’t dream, they won’t reach beyond the here and now.
Thank you to my loyal blog followers. If you speak Spanish, pick up a copy today and share with the favorite child(ren) in your life. If you speak English, here’s the link to the English version

the adventures of nate the great; flying newborn baby
Author, Annemarie Harrison, of The Adventures of Nate The Great; Flying Newborn BabyHello Everyone,
Welcome to Wanda Luthman’s Christian and Children’s Book Blog!
I have a fun book to share with you today called The Adventures of Nate the Great; Flying Newborn Baby. Here to tell us about it is the author, Annemarie Harrison…
“TANG is a Book Series about “Nate the Great” which captures the imaginations of a child, inspiring epic life adventures!
Soar to great heights in Nate’s very first adventure in life – being born and how he gets
his name – in “Flying Newborn Baby”.
Nate’s birth brings much happiness to Mama and Daddy. At the same time, Nate’s Papa
is very sick in the hospital. Papa wants to see his grandson, but doctors and nurses
aren’t supportive of this… “Newborn babies can’t fly!’ Mama’s told. Or can they? This is
a heartwarming tale of birth, loss, and the special qualities of a one-month-old baby.
With beautiful illustrations, Nate’s heartfelt narrative allows the imaginations of both
children and adults to take flight in this story, as one’s dying wish and another’s
resilience combine to create love and joy in the lives of many.
The Adventures of Nate the Great (TANG) is much more than a series of engaging
children’s stories: Each book contains thought-provoking questions whereby parents (or
teachers) may comfortably discuss with children various topics relative to the story;
such as names and their meanings, personal identity, death and grief, opposing
perspectives, and how to overcome challenges in “Flying Newborn Baby”.
Discover your own “GREAT-ness” as readers imagine with Nate everything
that’s possible in life in the TANG Book Series!
Thank you, Annemarie, for sharing your book with us! I know this series is going to be as great as it sounds. I love the concept of adventures as well as deeper concepts regarding personal identity and loss and grief. Thank you for writing on these topics. I know they will help children whether it’s parents and/or teachers that share your book with them.
Thank you my loyal blog followers for stopping by today. I hope you will purchase a copy of this book for the favorite child(ren) in your life!

the book of rhyming riddles
Author, Shana Gorian (books available on Amazon)Hi Everyone,
Welcome to Wanda Luthman’s Christian and Children’s Book Blog!
I’m glad you’re here today because I have a prolific children’s author to share with you today, Shana Gorian. I “know” Shana through the world of children’s books. I love her Rosco series!! But, today, I’m going to share with you about her new series, The Rhyming Riddles. She’s written 2 books in this series.
From the description on Amazon…
“300+ What Am I? Rhyming Riddles For Ages 6-12

Available on AmazonExamples from the book:

Q. The fastest on land, a blur and a streak, spots help me camouflage a silent sneak.
What am I?
A. A cheetah
Category/Holidays
Q. A day for equality, a dream we hold dear. We honor a man whose voice rang loud and clear.

Category/Transportation
Q. With whirring blades loud, I rise to the sky. No wings on my body, but way up I fly.
What am I?
A. A helicopter“
Shana shared her book with me and I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed her creative use of both rhyming which encourages children to learn to read by guessing the last word in the next sentence and riddles which encourages children to guess what the author is describing.
Both techniques help children learn, but putting them together makes it fun! Children will not even realize they are learning. That’s the kind of books I enjoy most when I share them with children (or write them myself).
No one wants to feel like they are “learning” or “being taught” something (okay, maybe those great minds who love to study)!. Most of us want to be entertained and especially in today’s digital world. This book definitely entertains.
Available on Amazon
Available on AmazonShana has written other series as well about a dog named Rosco and a cat named Whiskers. You’ll love those as well! She’s a gifted author and a prolific writer.
Thank you, Shana, for sharing your new series with us!
Thank you to my blog followers for stopping by today. I hope you have enjoyed learning about this new book series and will pick up both copies and read them with your favorite child(ren) today.

Thank you, Natasha, for sharing your awesome, timely book with us!
Here’s my review of it on Amazon
The topic in this book is so incredibly timely. We need a book that teaches kids how important it is to use their imagination and not get sucked into the world that doesn’t fulfill of their phones. I love how the author brings the main character to this realization and thereby readers will realize it also. The illustrations are colorful and fun. I know parents and educators will be reading this book over and over to the children in their lives and maybe even help them build a treehouse of their own.
Thank you blog readers for stopping by today. I hope you’ll purchase a copy of this book to read with a beloved child or children in your life. They need this now more than ever.

the memory quilt
Available on AmazonHi Everyone,
Welcome to Wanda Luthman’s Christian and Children’s Book Blog!
I have a special book to share with you because it’s so meaningful. It’s called The Memory Quilt by Lori Keating.
“When we honor those who have passed, it also helps with our healing. THE MEMORY QUILT is a poignant picture book written by Lori Keating and illustrated by Alyssa Grizenko.
Grace has just lost her friend Jason, who was more like a big brother than her next-door neighbor. Lori Keating adds love to every stitched word as Grace struggles to find a way to honor Jason’s memory. When she decides to create a quilt, there’s only one problem. She doesn’t know how to sew! Her mom helps her make the quilt out of Jason’s clothes. Lori Keating’s debut picture book was released on January 9, 2024.”
This book is a helpful resource for families who are grieving.
Lori lives in sunny Southwest Florida with her wonderful husband and daughter. Ever since she was in the fourth grade and entered a young author’s contest and won, she knew she wanted to be an author someday. When she’s not writing, her favorite activities are spending time with her family, reading, traveling, and enjoying time on the beach.
Thank you, Lori, for writing such a meaningful book on a subject that may be difficult to discuss with children. I’m sure parents and educators will find this useful to address how to help someone who is grieving.
On a side note, I lost my husband 5 years ago and I had someone else sew (because I don’t know how to either) 2 quilts made from my husband’s favorite t-shirts. I did two because there were enough for two but also the color patterns leant themselves to separating them. It is indeed a beautiful gift and keepsake for anyone grieving. I can cuddle down under it and feel snuggled by my husband (figuratively, of course).
Thank you, loyal blog followers, for stopping by today. I hope you will purchase a copy of this book and share it with your favorite child(ren).

j.m. gulmire’s books
All Books are Available on AmazonHi Everyone,
Welcome to Wanda Luthman’s Christian and Children’s Book Blog!
Today, I have an entertaining author to share with you. He’s J.M. Gulmire and above is his headshot that he created for himself out of Claymatian which is one of his many hobbies. You’ll see his Claymatian in action down below.
Today, he’s here to tell us about all of his best selling, hit children’s books…
“I wouldn’t have started writing if the elves in my gingerbread house didn’t beg for them. The story requests started as a joke, but then, they kept coming and my brain sparkled.
“Write about a crazy vacuum!”
“I want one about a robot dog…”
“How about a monster on a camping trip?”
The more I caught words in my fishing net and set them on a page, the more excited I was. I didn’t even realize what I was writing at first. I just knew there were worlds within our little world. Of course, the monster in my basement is my biggest critic, but my dog is a pretty good editor (at least that’s what the fairies in the attic say).
Available on AmazonAfter querying agents for about a decade or so, I realized that maybe these books needed their own fairy godfather. My first book, “A Vacuum for my Birthday?!” definitely needed some wings. It was so different and very hyper.
It was based on a joke I play on the elves each year when their birthdays roll around. They always beg to know what present they’re getting. To tease them I always say “A vacuum cleaner.”
This sparked my first release where Samantha, an 8 year old girl who is about to turn 9, begs to know what her present is. Her mom says, “A vacuum cleaner.” She spends the week before her party imagining robot vacuums, monster vacuums, and more.
It’s a story unlike any other, which inspired me to use my love of claymation to create little cartoon shorts to promote it.
Then, when the elves demanded I get my robot dog book out, I knew what to do. I whipped up some dog treats, wrapped the pages in a magical coller, and POOF! Soon I had my second release.
Available on Amazon“Kay-9 The Root Dog” is all about a boy who can’t have a dog, so he makes one out of recycled parts. This story hit #1 in new releases on Amazon giving me the oomph I needed to prepare my third book for the world.
Sculpting Kay-9, was my favorite part of promoting this book, well, that and watching my dog read the book with a big smile on his giant face.
My latest release, “Monster Camping Trip,” came out this spring and also hit bestseller status.
Available on AmazonBut unlike my first two books, this story follows a girl with a big family as they hit the road for a camping trip and find something in the woods. It’s all about adventure, exploration, and new discoveries. It’s based on my absolute love of nature and all the creatures lurking in the shadows. Making the claymation trailer was out of this world.
It’s been a great journey, and I have a bajillion more books coming to fulfill some wishes. These include my next project, an epic toad-venture that I’m hoping to release next year with longer claymation cartoons that could maybe resemble some kind of awesome mini-movie. Hopefully — If the monster in my basement behaves.”
Wow! Thank you, J.M. for sharing not only your awesome books with us today but your incredible talent with claymation!
I hope you, my loyal blog followers, enjoyed today’s blog post and will go grab all of J.M.’s books to share with your favorite child(ren).
