Rabbit in Red comes from a variety of ideas, but primarily these three:

1. Ready Player One: I love the idea of virtual reality and re-enacting movies. I took what Cline did in his great novel and put my own twist on it. What if horror lovers could re-enact their favorite scenes in virtual reality? What if they could change the outcomes and be a part of it, too?

2. Fear and home invasions: The summer I got the idea for this book, there had been a series of scary home invasions in my town. It really made me think about what scares me. Fear, of course, is a big part of this book.

3. Geek culture. It's a time to proudly love whatever it is you love. I love horror, and I wanted to write a tribute to it.

Book one is all of these things, and the series as a whole is so much more. (less)

Hit things. ;)

Usually, I take a long walk in a nearby cemetery and then get back to work if I need to clear my mind or think about a character or plot point some more.

But really I don't believe in writer's block. If you're suffering from it, it's time for a new story. We all need breaks and to distance ourselves, but if you've really got nothin' to write, then you've got nothin' to write!

"Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration, the rest of us just get up and go to work." -- Stephen King

Cobra Kai Season Two: Did Our Predictions Happen?

Cobra Kai is my new Game of Thrones. The karate dramedy has just as many twists, turns, and jaw-dropping moments.

I watched the entire second season in one day. It's a darker season, and I LOVED it. I'll be thinking of  that crazy, terrible, dark ending until we get season three (which you can announce any minute now, YouTube!).

After I watched season one, I posted ten predictions for season Read more of this blog post »
