Barnaby Hazen is an author-musician or musician-author, depending on when you ask. He edits an indie publication called Seven Eleven Stories, consisting of volumes of short fiction about convenience stores. His own first collection, Seven Eleven Forgotten and Other Stories, spurred the "convenience store fiction” concept.

His latest work is an award-winning novel entitled Misfortunes of T-Funk. Part 1 of a series, it covers the lives of two struggling musicians, and breathes close to the author’s heart and experience.

He lives in Taos, New Mexico with his wife, Sarah, and various children and animals on a come as they may basis.

Mark Twain
“Behold, the fool saith, "Put not all thine eggs in the one basket" - which is but a matter of saying, "Scatter your money and your attention"; but the wise man saith, "Pull all your eggs in the one basket and - WATCH THAT BASKET." - Pudd'nhead Wilson's Calendar”
Mark Twain, Pudd'nhead Wilson

Arun D. Ellis
“Only a psychopath would ever think of doing these things, only a psychopath would dream of abusing other people in such a way, only a psychopath would treat people as less than human just for money. The shocking truth is, even though they now have most if not all of the money, they want still more, they want all of the money that you have left in your pockets, they want it all because they have no empathy with other people, with other creatures, they have no feeling for the world which they exploit, they have no love or sense of being or belonging for their souls are dead, dead to all things but greed and a desire to rule over others.”
Arun D. Ellis, Corpalism

Friedrich Nietzsche
“At present, however, science, spurred on by its powerful delusion, is hurrying unstoppably to its limits, where the optimism hidden in the essence of logic will founder and break up. For there is an infinite number of points on the periphery of the circle of science, and while we have no way of foreseeing how the circle could ever be completed, a noble and gifted man inevitably encounters, before the mid-point of his existence, boundary points on the periphery like this, where he stares into that which cannot be illuminated. When, to his horror, he sees how logic curls up around itself at these limits and finally bites its own tail, then a new form of knowledge breaks through, tragic knowledge, which, simply to be endured, needs art for protection and as medicine.”

Friedrich Nietzsche, “Foreword to Richard Wagner” in The Birth of Tragedy, ed. R. Geuss & R. Speirs, Cambridge, 2007, 163. (p.114)”
Friedrich Nietzsche

Kahlil Gibran
“I have learned silence from the talkative, toleration from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet strange, I am ungrateful to these teachers.”
Kahlil Gibran
