The Rough Close Murder - audio book
The audio book of The Rough Close Murder has been accepted for distribution. I had fun with this, getting 10 actors together at a recording studio on 23 August 2024. Everyone really enjoyed performing tmy scripted book. I then added background sounds and music to the recording. I also uploaded this yo YouTube as a video, using photos of the actors performing and pictures of the archangels featured in the exorcism. If you look up Margaret Moxom YouTube you should get this version.
So, back to the radio book, here is the link:

The Rough Close Murder
Abitofa Christie is a series of podcasts based on Agatha Christie books. The podcaster invites guests relating their stories to various Agatha Christie books. I have been invited twice now, on the very first, to talk about my book The Barlaston Murderer and the last about The Rough Close Murder, when international psychic medium, Julie Angel and I are featured. Julie appears in my book. This podcast relates to Agatha Christie's The Dumb Witness. The podcasts are all on X (twitter) but here are the last two. They're really interesting, so have a listen and pass them on.

The Day the Sun Disappeared'
The talk went really Graham (who gave me loads of information about the event, that his family had collected) bought his daughter, who worked the laptop and also set up the refreshments. Many people arrived early, before I'd even set up, so Graham's daughter made them teas and coffees. The early-comers also got extra seats out for me, which was very helpful. Graham gave the books out and checked off people as they arrived. So, all in all, it went very well. Many people came to say thank you and I got a good applause at that end. Three people couldn't come as they'd gone down with a bug, but they didn't want their money back!
I have another three talks to do next year, not this talk but about other books I have written.
I am also planning another psychic event in February, with the psychic medium in my Rough Close Murder book. The books will be included in the ticket price.

The Day the Sun Disappeared'
I am doing a talk/presentation on Monday 27 November in Hanbury Memorial Hall. The hall is fully booked. I have arranged this presentation on this day as it is the 79th anniversary of the 1944 explosion, to the day. The explosion was on a Monday.
The presentation will include slides showing the results of the explosion plus photos of people involved. There will also be a short video on plus two audio playlets of RAF and alabaster miners stuck underground, desperately trying to get out before the deadly carbon monoxide gets to them.

The Rough Close Murder
Received this from Austin Maccauley publishers. A very good report and synopsis about The Rough Close Murder.....
RE: 'The Rough Close Murder' and 'The Day the Sun Disappeared'
Your manuscripts were brought to our attention at the latest Editorial Board meeting when we discussed
the potential of their publication. Having read all the reports and taken note of the Editors’ opinions we
can confidently state that your works were found to be a most entertaining and adventurous reads, very
well-written, that will undoubtedly captivate a wide audience. While both submissions have merit, 'The
Rough Close Murder' was of particular interest to the Board, as an evocative, confronting and
ultimately thrilling novel in which a reader becomes confidant, friend, or protector of the protagonist Sue,
holding her close to their hearts. The Board was impressed by the compelling, original storyline which
lends itself well to Gothic literature, rooted in true crime, with a modern twist as the story centres around
Sue and Dave and the new house they have purchased in Rough Close. Little do the new owners know their lives are about to alter forever as the house’s chilling history is revealed. Throughout the story there are many thrilling and gothic twists and turns as the spirit of the deceased William Daniel slowly takes over Dave’s body, which adds to the tension and mystery within the text. Additionally, the inclusion of the isolated farmhouse, the strange music the family hears and the eerie, unexplained movement of the furniture are all great elements of the Gothic and work wonderfully within the narrative. ThroughoutDave’s mental health is questioned as Sue believes something is inherently wrong with her husband to cause such a change in personality but when further research reveals the tragic demise of the Daniel family, Sue is in over her head and contacts an expert. Your authorial voice is strong and confident as your work is well-conceived and developed, framed by a cast of characters that builds and sustain this spooky story, the contemporary work delivers a lasting impression and insight into Gothic literature. The Board was keen to comment on the dynamic writing style and believes 'The Rough Close Murder' has the potential to excel within its genre.

This is a true, historical novel - the true story of the day east Staffordshire and Derby were rocked by a terrific explosion that shattered the peaceful farming villages, sending up an Hiroshima-like mushroom cloud of earth, alabaster, farmland and trees, over the whole area, that descended, blocking out the sun and leaving a crater the size of six football pitches.
The day was 27 November 1944,
I have obtained true stories from families who lived through those sad, dark days, some who, after all these years, have found it distressing to relate.
