Going to Be Mostly Gone for a Bit
Long time no harass you, peeps. As ever, I'm way busier than I want or should be, but so it goes ^^
That being said, I'm about to get even busier. As most know, Sasha and I got married back in March. Come July 10th, we're throwing a little party for family and friends to celebrate the marriage. It's a glorified backyard BBQ rather than a proper reception (what is a proper reception???), but that's how we like it :)
But the bulk of preparing for it is on me, since Sasha has to work, so I'm not g...

Only Option Ficbit
The promised ficbit in full, 5k of shenanigans (and some porn). It still lacks a title, but eh.
Enjoy! And I hope everyone has a lovely weekend :)

"Get it off me!" The man shrieked in a pitch that normally could only be achieved by boys before their voices changed. "Get it off!"
"Her," Rochus corrected as he crouched to pet Memory, who purred happily but didn't slow where she was licking away the blood from the cut on the man's cheek. "My cat is a lady, and being rude is not going to improve...

Rainbow Snippet 5-28: The Only Option ficbit
I have a million and one things I need to properly post about, but it'll have to wait until hopefully this coming week.
In the meantime, have a snippet of a The Only Option ficbit I wrote recently (and I'll post the full thing once it's been edited and stuffs, I have not had the time yet).
And of course check out more Rainbow Snippets here.

Going on Vacation
Alright, my lovely people,
Sam, Sasha, and I are taking off for a week to go visit a friend in DC. We will be back at work next Tuesday, th 26th. As ever, we'll be around a bit, but mostly away from our computers and such so replies, etc. will take a bit longer than usual. We're going to be on the road most of tomorrow, so we definitely won't be able to do much then.
If you absolutely need something from me today, you have about four hours left to get it.
Everyone try to behave while I'm gone, o...

WIP: The Heart of the Lost Star
MILD SPOILER WARNING FOR SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS IN THE PIRATE OF FATHOMS DEEP. I'm probably being overly cautious, it's really really minor and I may have already given it away somewhere because me, but better safe than sorry.
This story takes place a couple years after the end of Pirate, for reference. I am four chapters from being done with it, and am so far pretty pleased with it, even with the list of revisions I'm already building ^^
Jader was briefly in High King, he's a little bit m...

Cover Reveal: The Pirate of Fathoms Deep
Courtesy of John Coulthart, who did High King as well ^__^ He continues to be fucking amazing, to no one's surprise :)
High Commander Lesto Arseni is the most feared man in the Harken Empire. None but the High King dares risk his wrath—and a pirate who once punched him in the middle of the imperial pavilion. A pirate who later snuck away with Lesto to an empty room, and touched him in ways far more memorable. And then immediately bolted like a man who'd gotten what he wanted.

Various Works in Progress
Because lately I'm scattered and all over the place, I'm picking away slowly b/t a handful of stories. Eventually, one will stick and that's all I'll do for a bit, but right now here is the roster ;3
DANCE IN THE STORMThe grand finale to the Dance with the Devil series
Ettore resumed walking, but awareness had come and he could not go back to that state where nothing at all existed, not even him.
"Am I finally dead?" he whispered before he could stop himself. The idea made him sad, but mostly it...

Rainbow Snippet January 23-24
Myra always started work three hours before the work day officially began. Given how late his duties often required he stay, he spent his life perpetually sleep deprived, but that could be said of everyone in the office, from the High King and Consort all the way down to the servant responsible for cleaning up at night.
He'd been more than a little miffed when High Consort Allen started showing up two hours before everyone else, because he counted on those three hours of solitude to keep him o...

Release Day - Trick of the Light

Superheroes are something I always wanted to do, and I mucked with them a little bit in silly shorts. But a larger idea always nagged at me, and finally one day it all started to come together.
And the first book in the series (of which there will be at least six) is Trick of the Light, which was originally inspired by conversations and comments and jokes about who pays for the damages when the supers are done fucking shit up.
The answer is Karl, at least in my neck of the woods. His job is actually pretty back burner in this story, but it does give him a unique perspective on supers and everything they do, a view that isn't exactly what the powers that be would approve of.
It also makes him fonder of the bad guys, or at least most of them, then those same powers would approve, and leads him to taking care of and even helping Trick of the Light.
Now unlike a lot of my series, where I try to make each story fairly stand alone, these must be read in order and skipping one will result in confusion. The second book is done, and comes out in March. The third one is partially written, and I will probably try to write four as well before publishing more (but I also don't want the series to languish too long. We'll see, I try not to make firm plans because they always go awry).
I hope peeps enjoy Trick and Karl, and that everyone has a good week! :)
Meg
Karl leads a quiet life—quieter than he wants, especially since getting into a fight with one of the most powerful men in the city—but it could be worse. In a city where super heroes and villains can level a city block in a moment, it's a good day when nothing is destroyed, especially for the man who sells super hero insurance.
After yet another date stands him up, Karl heads home for another night spent reading with only his cats for company. But a strange sound at the bus stop leads him to a shocking discovery: Trick of the Light, a notorious villain in possession of an impossible power, and currently the intense focus of a manhunt by the Grand Order of Defenders.
But Karl has never had much respect for the Order and its arrogant, cavalier super heroes. Whatever the risks, he'd much rather spend the night helping a villain, especially since once Trick is well enough to move Karl will probably never see him again…
