"Every word is a prejudice."
Take all of your emotions and throw them in a blender
Apocalypse the Memoir Reviewed By Kathryn Bennett for Readers’ Favorite
Apocalypse The Memoir by Chantelle Oliver is a memoir about the events of 1987 when the author raced across America to search for her father. The author is a self proclaimed 90-pound loser who made her way to Las Vegas and tells this story in full and brutal honesty.
Take all of your emotions and throw them in a blender, then hit puree and leave them alone for an hour. That is what you feel when you read this book. This emotional story is brutal and grief filled, and yet there is some dark humor within the pages as well. With that said, it is an amazing read with a powerful message behind it. I may have grown up with a father, but I have friends who didn’t and I understand them on a different level now.
Chantelle Oliver takes a brave leap forward in laying everything bare for us to read, and offers up the truth and nothing but the truth in a way that makes you truly feel connected with the story. This may be an emotional read but it is a story that needs to be told, something that more people who have had absent parents or just experiences in life need to share. I would be more than happy to recommend this book to any of my friends and family. It is emotional but a good kind of emotional.
