Expanding availability and updates
I am proud to announce that 'Charlie: An Orchard City short'

In the next couple of weeks you can expect to see it on the shelves of iBooks, Kobo, Nook and many more, stay tuned for updates on this.
Unfortunately it will be a little while longer before 'A Victim of the Times' joins it, however it is still available as part of Kindle Unlimited, so if your a member then get reading.
As for 'Clarity' my new novella, a pre-order date will be up soon.

Clarity.
As with many things, some time away can often help bring new ideas, thoughts or feelings to the table.
After a long weekend in the city of Amsterdam and a strong bout of flu, (the worst I've experienced in a long time) I have taken a while away from my trusty pen and pad.
However, now my recovery is almost over I am pleased to announce that a new short story will be realeased towards the middle of May.
It will be entitled, Clarity.
More updates will follow.

Challenging expectations, the creative individual.
'Man the living creature, the creative individual is always more important than any established style or system'-Bruce Lee
I have been a huge fan of Bruce Lee since I was around ten years old. Not only did I enjoy his films, his dedication, his tireless effort to break barriers and redefine possibilities. But also his philosophies. Although there are many of his quotes that relate to martial arts, they can also be applied to almost anything.
There comes a time or a book where a genre is given a fresh look, whether it's combining genres which are seldom or never seen together, or showing a genre in a different light than it previously has been.
But in doing so, will readers welcome such changes with open arms, or are we so set in our ways that we often won't give these books a chance? Should it matter?
As an author these are questions I often ask myself. Being somebody who reads and writes, I try my best to write something which not only falls in with particular conventions, but also challenge them as best I can. To 'challenge the style and systems' of what already stands.
In my debut novel, 'A Victim of the Times' I believe I have done a decent job at scratching the surface of this, and thankfully many people who have taken the time to read it, have agreed.
Instead of following a detective/police officer on the hunt for a serial killer, (commonplace for the crime thriller/fiction genres), I placed the focus on a seemingly ordinary man, Jack Phoenix. An antihero protagonist with a history of violence and criminal behaviour, who struggles with the day to day after striving to lead an honest life. Although 'The Executioner' the vicious serial killer, being a large part of the story, the focus isn't always on him, much like the spike lee film 'summer of Sam'.
Often writers will hold back on a lot of expressionism and will be less daring with what or how they write, as they are to concerned that not everybody who reads will like it.
But challenging people's expectations is how some of the most memorable novels have came to be, some have even been banned for their content.
In a time where almost anyone can be an author, be it independent or otherwise we could see a larger change in what we can expect from certain genre. Writing is still an art form and I believe such a change should be embraced by authors and readers alike, after all 'The creative individual is always more important'.

Chivalry, dead, dying, lost?
Men, when is the last time you pulled a chair out for a woman you were courting?
Better still, when is the last time you saw another person doing so?
As I continue research for my upcoming novel, ‘Bombshell’, I have stumbled across many articles on the topic (most of which with one view) and thought I would explore the topic for my first article.
Chivalry started out originally as a code used by medieval knights, a code where a high value was placed on; kindness, courage and honour.
Its modern day equivalent is that of kindness and polite and honest behaviour by men towards women. Around forty or fifty years ago, chivalry was a must have tool in a gentlemen’s tool box. But in the age we are living in, an age of women’s rights/feminism and hook up websites and apps; where less people are taught traditional values, is it soon to become extinct?
Some would argue that it already has. But what could be the cause?
Has feminism lead to a man being accused of sexist behaviour, simply through him being courteous?
Have apps like tinder and the relaxed attitude towards pre-marital sex made us adapt and write off these kind acts as ‘old fashioned’?
Are we all less trusting towards people who offer help and kindness?
There are some who would argue that chivalry is alive and well, there are some who would argue that chivalry and being a gentleman are one in the same, or that chivalry is now a universal code, used by women towards men, as much as men towards women, men towards men, etc.
All I will say is this, ‘an act of kindness is never wasted’.
What are your thoughts?
Better still, when is the last time you saw another person doing so?

Waking up, piping up, keep your eyes open.
It's fair to say that my blogging has been pretty non-existent over the last four months or so, looks like a change is in order.
I'm looking into getting the ball rolling both on and off Goodreads, with a new mailing list soon to be set up. Not only will it include information on my upcoming works, freebies and short stories but a weekly article/post.
UPDATES TO COME ON THE MAILING LIST. But in the meantime I will be using my GR blog.
I am also still answering any questions, so any you might have please ask away, with ask the author.

Short story, coming in the next few weeks
I'm excited to announce that my new short story is almost finished. Charlie: An Orchard City Short is set to delve into the past of the young homeless character introduced in 'A Victim of the times'. Readers of the novel will know, his past is less than straightforward, as you would expect being a citizen of Americas most notorious City. Journey with him through his struggle and how he came to be the man he is. Due to the holiday season almost being upon us the E-book will be free to download over the next few months. More updates will follow.

Days are rapidly turning into weeks
Had a long few weeks, I've been looking for traditional publishing/agent hunting for added awareness of the debut. On top of writing and advertising. Looking forward to getting further into books number two and three, one of which going through familiar territory, the other something new and exciting.
Bring it on.
Bring it on.
