Book review: The Betrayal You Serve – Tracy Lorraine (@Tracy_L_Author)

Bit by bit the truth had come out, secrets revealed, until Kane was the only one left with something to hide. Except he too had been exposed, driving the woman he loved into the arms of another. He is faced with a decision that could cost him his life, but the alternative is living a life without the one thing he needs, Letty. He’s messed up, made the biggest mistakes, and looking back he can see now that it wasn’t hatred driving his raw emotions, but something else, something he’s now scared to lose. But is it too late to salvage what they could have had, and if not, will he be able to offer her the one thing she’s asked, for him to get out from Victor’s control, something which Kane knows all too well has dire consequences, after all, he used to deliver them.

The Betrayal you serve is the final book in Letty and Kane’s story and there are plenty if surprises in store. The chemistry of the book remains red hot but the stakes have changed, secrets are out and desires known. Gripping and intense, another unputdownable read that will have you wanting to skip ahead with the need to uncover what happens next. setting down, grab a drink, because you’re not going to want to blink while you read the final installment of Kane and Letty’s tale.

Book review: Masks of Devotion – Maggie Cole (@MaggieColeAuth)

Kade has a secret. For years he has not been who he seemed. He’s been playing a game, getting close to bringing down the twisted hearts on a global scale. Their plans are terrifying, but more concerning is how the love of his life, the woman he was forced to leave behind, is being dragged into that world. He needs to protect her, to win her back and earn her forgiveness, the only problem is, the man she is seeing is his focus. He must keep on point, compete his mission, and yet the urge to rip her from his arms is more powerful than any urge he’s fought before.

Masks of Devotion is the forth book in Maggie Cole’s Together we Stand series. I have to confess, I think this is the best book in the series so far, I loved complexity of Kade’s character, the turmoil of keeping such a big piece of his life secret from not only the woman he has always loved, but from those he considered family. You can feel their frustration, Gracie needing answers, Kate wishing he could give them and salvage what they once had. Ups and down, action and chaos mesh in the most gripping and dangerous ways. Fast paced, heated and fun. I live how this series continues to give more insight into the rest of the characters and fills in some blanks along the way.

Book review: Matchmaker – Ivy Smoak (@IvySmoakAuthor) #mustread

Sixteen years ago Matt made a promise to only love one person. She was his one, his only, his future, and without her there would be no one. That was the vow he had wanted to speak on his wedding day, but instead he whispered them over her grave. He was a man of his word, hurt, broken, and only for her. But as the years passed his vow weighs heavily, more so as those closest to him seize the happiness he’d always envisioned he’d have. Everything he had ever wanted lay buried, along with his dreams of the future. But as life moves around him, he can’t help but feel the void, the life he could have had and wonder if, maybe, a broken vow was the only way to mend a broken soul. There was only one person he could see himself with, one person to breach his defenses and make him feel almost whole, and she was the only person he could never have.

Matchmaker is book four in Ivy Smoak’s Empire High series. Oh my God, I have never read a book that had me in fits of laughter on one page and sniffling on the next. Absolutely fantastic. I loved the characters, and having read every last one of Ivy’s books, seeing adult Matt was every bit as soul destroying as I imagined. I hurt for him, I really did. Ivy has a way of creating characters that effortlessly steal, break, and mend your heart. I read this book in one sitting, refusing to put it down, and all I want to do now is read the whole series again. I seriously can’t get enough of this author, she raises the bar to a whole new level, and I have no shame in admitting I’m not only addicted but emotionally invested in her work. This book ticks all the boxes, engaging, emotional, funny, heartbreaking, and moreish. I already need the next book. If you’ve not read this series yet, start now.

Book review: S.S. Segran’s Aegis Desolation

In S.S. Segran’s Aegis Desolation, Hell was what they were living through, a hellish nightmare that had only one end in sight, the prophecy. The problem was, to stop Reyor, it was known that Tegan, Kody, Aari and Maria alone would not be enough, all five of The Chosen had to be together, and that meant they had to find and recue Jag, something which seemed more and more impossible with every attempt they made. As information becomes scarce, leads dry up, it looks like Reyor will finally get everything she has been hoping to achieve all this time, with the added bonus of a nasty little surprise for the remaining Chosen. Tension is high, desperation a constant companion as tragedy after tragedy shake The Chosen to the very core. Can they unite and face the biggest threat the world has ever know, or are they fated to watch everything they want to save crumble around them?

Aegis Desolation is the fourth book in S.S. Segran’s Aegis League Series. I read the last book about three years ago and had completely forgotten how much I was looking forward to finding out what happened next until this book found its way to me. This was another amazing, intense and gripping read with all the markers of greatness. The characters are strong, unique individuals, haunted and traumatised by their experiences as they fight to find a way to hold on to their mission and themselves against odds, grief, and haunting memories. This group has suffered, loved and lost and watched the world and things they hold dear crumble around them, bearing the weight of knowing they are the ones destined to stop this great and seemingly relentless evil from victory. High with emotion, growth, and discovery that will take the reader on an epic adventure where comradery means survival. this book will take the reader on a ride like no other. Filled with heartache, twists, action, adventure, and chaos, the stakes continue to rise as we propel forwards to what will be the final book in the series.

Book review: The Deception you Weave -Tracy Lorraine

Letty knew secrets were going to destroy her, but this one had come closer than any other to taking everything from her. When she’d finally told Kane, it hadn’t come out the way she’d meant it to. She’d kept this card close, it had almost killed her once, and now fate was destined to repeat itself. No sooner had she told him, Kane fled. Hours later she’s in the hospital, praying he survives the crash her revelation caused. She thought he’d hated her before he found out the truth, but now the depth of his anger knows no bounds. He wants to destroy her, and its possible he could do exactly that.

The Deception you Weave by Tracy Lorraine is the second book in the Maddison Kings University series, and I have been waiting eagerly for this book to come out. I have to confess I devoured this book. I was so drawn into it that the world could have crashed down around me and I wouldn’t have noticed. I loved the continuation of Letty and Kane’s story, you can feel the passion and hatred, the pure and raw emotion of every page as it sucks you in and refuses to let go. Even when the book is over you’re desperate for more. Book three is on my waiting list ready for its release. I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Book review: The Revenge you Seek – Tracy Lorraine (@Tracy_L_Author)

For the past eighteen months Letty had gone through Hell. She had worked her whole life for a place in Columbia only to have it snatched from her as her life fell apart at the seams. MKU was meant to be a fresh start, a way to recapture just a fragment of herself and the future she had once chased. Returning home was always going to be challenging, but when she reconnected with old friends she thinks maybe, just maybe, this could be a turning point. Then he shows up. Kane Legend. The boy who has made it his life’s purpose to destroy her. He succeeded once, and his vow of revenge is still thrumming in his veins. He wants to make her suffer like never before. This was meant to be his fresh start too, and there she was, destroying his life again.

The Revenge you Seek by Tracy Lorraine is a deeply dark and engaging college bully romance. From the onset you are drawn straight to Letty, her guarded pain, her unseen suffering as she fights for a new start, weary and uncertain. You can’t help but feel for her as she reconnects with old friends, only to come face to face with her tormenter. I went through a range of emotions with Kane, from outrage to understanding. Cruel and twisted, he hates and loves her. she is everything he despises, everything he could never have, and he wants nothing more than to tear her down and show her what she really is, a dirty, little whore. This book was simply brilliant. Engaging, hot, steamy, violent, dangerous and thrilling. I can’t wait for the next book. This has definitely earned a place on my recommended reads list.

Book review: Samael- Alex Dunn (@alexdunnauthor)

Katie, left scarred by a tragic accident, plans to spend the summer holidays hiding away in her sleepy little town. The burns were bad enough, but the person she thought loved her was so repulsed that he dumped her, shattering what little self-confidence remained. It was only when she witnessed the new neighbours dragging the unconscious figure of a boy into their house that things began to change. Strange happenings are afoot, and little does she know that her own curiosity will bring trouble to their sleepy town. Sam, the boy next door, and his curious secrets rekindle her spirit, but she is not the only one to change. Soon she once more stands alone, with only Sam beside her as the most monumental battle in history is brought to her door.

Alex Dunn will successfully capture your attention as she brings to life her own spin on angel and demons in Samael. One thing is for sure, you’ll be hard pushed to tear yourself away from this gripping tale. Samael focuses around the two main protagonists, Katie and Sam. Katie’s accident has left her a shell of the person she once was. Through the plot you have the great pleasure of watching her broken heart and soul slowly repair, as you not only learn about Sam, her new neighbour, but also the unusual circumstances surrounding him. This tale of discovery, both of self and secrets hidden and forgotten, is supported by a small cast of secondary characters, who are individuals in their own right and as such are able to enhance the plot in their own way. Alex Dunn writes with finesse, and breathes life into the character-driven plot effortlessly. There’s peril, temptation, more than a fair share of the mysterious, and teenage troubles in this well-written, steady-paced urban fantasy.

Book review: Shameless – Michelle Heard

Rhett may have acted spoilt at times, but he was always grateful for what he had, he knew things could have turned out much differently. Every woman who crosses his path is a gold digger. But then he met Evie, the kid living on the streets, working for a topless cleaning service. When he looked at her he saw the future that could have met him and his sister Mia. He wanted to help, he hadn’t expected to develop feelings for her, and he sure as hell wasn’t going to act on them. He was her protector, a paycheck to keep her in education and off the streets, so when she graduated and broke all ties he knew he’s been right to be wary. She had seen his money, just like the others. Only she had never felt just like the others, and when an unexpected payment appears in his bank he realises how wrong he had been.

Shameless is the last book in Michelle Heard’s Enemies to lovers series. To be honest, I have to confess I was really looking forward to Rhett’s story and it did not disappoint. As with the other books, we backtrack to the first meeting and watch the relationship feelings, and struggles unfold. This story was particularly sweet, and it brings the side of of Rhett you always knew existed. I loved catching up with the other characters, seeing how things were unfolding in their lives as Rhett realises he has already lost his happily ever after, and vows to find a way to make right his past mistakes. I was sad to see this series end, and will definitely be picking up more books from this author soon.

Book review: Maggie Cole – Web Of Betrayal

Hudson had been hurt in the past, the woman he wanted to marry had broken his heart and ever since he had kept himself guarded. Besides, no woman every wanted all of him, they wanted bits, to pick and choose which parts of him they would be willing to accept. they never wanted all of him, and he didn’t want to give himself to someone either Until Lena. Rescued from the Twisted Heart the young woman is vulnerable, trying to understand her place in a world outside protection and mind games. She unlocks Hudson’s need to protect, and instinct he thought was only afforded to his family. But the more times he spends with her, the easier she is slipping past his defenses. He wants her, but with her past he fears his love could break her.

Web of Betrayal in Book four in Maggie Cole’s Together we Stand series, centering around Hudson and Lena we are drawn into an engaging romance that will have you on the edge of your seat, literally screaming out in frustration at some of the things his ex, Kate, is doing. A game of manipulation is unfolding in his own house, and it seems that Lena is the key to more than just his happiness, because she knows things, things she must never talk about, that make her central to everything the Twisted Hearts want. Engaging, sweet, and frustrating, definitely another great addition to the series.
