Lisa Libby was born in the small town of Rochester, New Hampshire. As a young child she dreamt up adventurous stories, but never wrote them down until her teen years when she began journaling, writing poetry and drawing. A creative teenager, it was only a matter of time before she developed an interest in writing.

After high school she moved to Boston, Massachusetts to attend college, where she studied and worked in the heart of downtown. The exposure to the city's history, culture, politics, and extensive tales of crime inspired her to write a novel set in the city she adores.

In the Red is her first self-published novel.

“Experience-taking changes us by allowing us to merge our own lives with those of the characters we read about. It doesn’t happen all the time. It only occurs when people are able, in a sense, to forget about themselves and their own self-concept and self-identity while reading. You have to be able to take yourself out of the picture, and really lose yourself in the book in order to have this authentic experience of taking on a character’s identity.”
