“And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.” Mark 12:42-44 ESV

God is just. Merriam-Webster refers to just as “acting or being in conformity with what is morally upright or good”; Merriam-Webster even lists righteous as an alternative word. God creates the parameters for what is morally good, what is upright, and what is righteous, and because of this, he is the very definition of those things.

If you’re like me, you probably don’t think of yourself as someone who serves money. I give money, but I’m also challenged by passages in scripture when Jesus is particularly challenging about money, too.

What are true riches?
“If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? And if you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?” Luke 16:11-12 ESV
This passage and the ones yesterday and the day before were what Jesus said at the end of a unique parable. He talked about a dishonest manager.
