Dying adventures and book progress
The dying frenzy continues as I prepare for the holidays.
These are all superwash merino. Each braid is between 50g-65g. I am happy with the colours this time. I had an unsuccessful batch last week that I ended up overdying.
The Pollywog is finally here! This is a dream to treadle and it’s just so lovely. I spun my Halloween batt up right away.
Progress continues for On Dark Wings. I have ten chapters completed so far. Ash, Blood and Bone had around 27 chapters so I am hoping to keep this book about the same length. Nanowrimo is just around the corner, hopefully it will help motivate me.

Beautiful Rolags
A quick update on my handspinning progress. I’m slowly getting more consistent and have really enjoyed playing with the Ashford Blending Board. These are some of the rolags and hand pulled roving that have come off my board.
On Dark Wings, book two of the Ash, Blood and Bone series, is making progress. The second half is completed and I’m just working on tying everything into the ending.

Wool dying
I have always been a knitter. I started young and have kept up with it over the years. A few months ago I finished the dragonwing shawl shown below:
I’ll try to take a better photo later.
Lately, I have been learning to spin. Working with the fibre is very hypnotic and the repetitive action is perfect for brainstorming when I’m stuck.
I went to the Twist Fibre Festival last weekend and bought several blends of white wool to try out dying. These are some of my first attempts.
I am thrilled with the results and have some interesting plans for the dyed fibre. Something book related…..

I am thrilled to announce that I will be at this year’s Prose in the Park, Ottawa’s favorite open-air literary festival and book fair.
I will be bringing along books, custom bookplates and a special prop for a photo contest, details to be announced.
Please come visit, perhaps buy a book or get your copy signed. I look forward to meeting you.

Release Day
Today Ash, Blood and Bone went live on Amazon, Kobo and their affiliates. It is available in both ebook and paperback.
This whole process has been both amazing and stressful. I spent last evening chatting with createspace, desperately trying to get my book listed on Amazon.ca in time.
I would like to thank everyone for their support in this process. For my awesome beta readers: I have started book two. It’s in progress…
