Was this really a year ago? I remember the night we got engaged like it’s still vibrating through the marrow of my bones, keeping me warm. I remember my breath catch when you got down on one knee, the look on your face when I said “of course,” because I get too flustered, hot-cheeked and shaky when I get surprised to just say “yes” and stay on script like a normal person.
.
But other moments were a blur, we must have floated over the cobblestones on the way home, because I don’t remember the walk under the Eiffel Tower. One moment cut to the next, calling my parents, popping champagne, flinging the windows open to watch the Tower sparkle one last time in twilight. But that look on your face - that still frame I’m going to hold close, like that €5 lock souvenir you didn’t roll your eyes at when I said it could fit in my suitcase.
.
One year ago, but forever ahead of us, and I promise to keep floating with you, to say “of course” to your dreams and always to us. Happy anniversary to my husband to be, I love you @motorcycle_frenzy
