What are you being for Halloween? (Alice?)

Honestly that was my plan but now I’m reevaluating after some recent stuff going on. It’s so unlike me not to dress up for Halloween but I’m just not really sure that it’s going to happen this year.

SO I better see some great costume posts from you guys to get my Halloween fix!

How unreal is this picture my friend Ana took while she was at an authentic Alice In Wonderland teatime in London?

More to come, just can’t get over it!

The book is available on Amazon here and B&N here!

Just Survive Somehow

Or JSS, for my fellow Walking Dead fans out there.

image

Thank you for your patience with me, and for all of the wonderful messages about my book. It has helped more than you know. Because I’m going through what is quickly shaping itself out to be the darkest time of my life, and every kind word weighs more heavily these days.

I wish I could say I was proud of the way I’ve been handling everything. I wish I could say I was brave. I wish for a lot of things, but I think I’m learning that it’s better to just be honest with yourself. And to just survive somehow. And to not apologize for how you choose to survive.

So that’s where I stand at this moment. I didn’t write this for attention or for pity of any kind. Hence why the details aren’t important. I wrote this because if any of you are trying to piece together a shattered heart, if any of you are just trying to get by, to just get through the day, or the hour, you’re not alone. You’re very far from alone. And I want you to know that.

How’s this for a #tbt?

This is me and my first dog, Madeline. Yes, she was a Great Dane. And yes, I know I look like the quintessential 90’s child.

I’ve obviously had dogs on the brain since visiting and choosing Alfalfa. Next month I start a new canine lifelong friendship, and it’s a light in a difficult time.

Do you guys have special dogs in your life? Feel free to inbox me! Let’s geek out on pups.

I've felt really out of touch with myself lately. It feels like I'm constantly in auto-pilot or like I'm in a dream. It's horrible, really. I don't know how to get back in touch with reality and myself. Any ideas on how to help this?

It’s funny you mention that, that’s really the basis for my novel.

In the novel Elizabeth meditates, and meditation becomes the vehicle for her own self-discovery. I would certainly consider that option.

But ultimately I think it comes down to what ignites your own soul - when do you feel the most You? When you’re playing an instrument? When you’re doing a certain sport or physical activity? When you’re painting? Doing yoga? Taking a walk in nature? I feel like if you have “your thing” that gets you into the zone, that’s the best place to start.

I’ve been feeling the same way. Stop and do something for yourself. Reclaim yourself again.

Old Photos Reveal How Disney’s Animators Used A Real-Life Model To Draw Alice In Wonderland

Kathryn Beaumont, the actor who voiced both Alice in Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and Wendy in Disney’s Peter Pan, also modeled for the animators. These old photos show how much effort was put into classical animation at the Disney studio, where artists were able to produce as many as 23-24 seconds of animation per week.

Walt Disney chose Beaumont to be the voice of Alice when she was just ten years old. He was so impressed by her looks that he chose her for the model of Alice. After Beaumont finished her studies she went on to become an elementary teacher, a career that lasted thirty years. She was named a “Disney Legend” by the Walt Disney Company in 1998.

Every molecule of this is amazing.

“To destroy myself, to erase myself, to hide away…to grow fang and claw and fur to keep one safe, to crawl on all fours, closer to the grounds — away from mankind, away from their teeth…that is what I need.”
