To all of the beautiful...

Tiffany Mitchell

To all of the beautiful souls reading this,

I am wishing you
the best year ahead. I hope 2016 brings you pure joy, magic, success,
new experiences, chances to grow, and chances to love.

I hope you
stay in your magic. I hope you care about something so much that it
hurts like hell. I hope you find your passion, and your deepest sense of
self. I hope you laugh so hard you can’t breathe. I hope you have
moments where time escaped. I hope you have moments where time slowed to
nothing, so you can be present. I hope you dance until your feet hurt. I
hope you see something so beautiful you forget yourself for a moment.

And most of all, I hope you stay present for each moment, and stay grateful for the chance to have a new year that’s unwritten.

Cheers to 2016,

Anna

In 2015, I manifested:

Publishing my first novel, Meditations In Wonderland Appearing on Great Day Washington for my author interview, and then had the book begin selling in select Barnes & Nobles because of demand

Got Alfalfa!
Moved back to Virginia, then started living alone
Signed up for my first grad school online class with Harvard

It’s hard to find the words to describe what 2015 was for me, and I know that this time last year I could have never foreseen this year turning into what it did. But I think that’s the magic of life, for better or for worse. Would we have it any other way?

I want to take the time to bask in gratitude for all of it, and I can’t wait to launch the giveaway next month so spread the love and good vibes.

What did you manifest this year? Cheers to making 2016 an even bigger year.

From my desk to yours,

Anna

Do you have any New Years resolutions ?

We must be on the same vibe because I just wrote a post about this to go out for after midnight!

So instead of doing resolutions, I’m trying something new!

The other day someone told me that instead of doing resolutions he picks a
word or a mantra for the year. That approach allows the
focus to shift from being pressured to being mindful. All about it.

The mantra I chose is “stay in your magic.”

Cheers,

Anna

Since some of you were asking, I wanted to share my 2015...

Since some of you were asking, I wanted to share my 2015 Goodreads challenge with you!

I read 50 books this year, and you can see all of them here.

Here are my top 10 favorites out of the 50, in no particular order:

Wild, Cheryl StrayedPretty Baby, Mary KubicaThe Good Girl, Mary Kubica
Slade House, David MitchellWe Have Always Lived In The Castle, Shirley JacksonLuckiest Girl Alive, Jessica KnollGirl In A Band, Kim GordonDark Places, Gillian FlynnSharp Objects, Gillian FlynnThe Untethered Soul, Michael A. Singer

Of course I also read a bunch of Russian lit this year (Nabokov, Dostoevsky and Bulgakov, my three favorites), and out of all of those, these were my favorites:

The Eye, Vladimir NabokovThe Double, Fyodor DostoevskyHeart of a Dog, Mikhail Bulgakov

I like looking back at the books I read for the year because you can see certain themes emerge. Mine seemed to be: descending into dark chaos and finding your way out, independent women slaying their journeys, and magical surrealism. Solid.

Of course the highlight for me this year in terms of books was publishing my first novel, Meditations In Wonderland. A journey all in its own. (The Kindle version is on sale right now for $1.99 just for another few days!)

That’s likely why I stepped away from non-fiction, spiritual and self-help this year. Fiction was a welcome break from the work that went into revising and editing, and I was still finding some inspiration for it in the beginning of the year and trying to study the trends I was seeing in popular literary fiction.

I’m looking forward to more favorites to come in 2016 - inbox or chat me with your upcoming reads!

Happy page-turning,

Anna

Meditations In Wonderland For $1.99 On Amazon - The Kindle Version!

So I think there was a fluke in communications on Amazon’s end, but the holiday price of $1.99 is for the Kindle version, only through January 6th, you can find it here.

I’m so sorry if you’re disappointed it's only for the Kindle version - but no worries, I’ll be doing a book giveaway in mid-January! More to come on that in the new year.

If I was, I'd be

If I was…

a month: Early February.
a day of the week: Thursday.
a planet: Saturn.
a sea animal: Narwhal.
a piece of furniture: Antique vanity.
a gemstone: Onyx.
a flower: This is a recent discovery - hellebores, or “winter rose.” My mom has one blooming in her garden. I love that it blooms in winter, like me. There’s even one in “Anna’s Red” that is literally my soul in flower form.
a kind of weather: Those hours before a massive snow. Still, but heavy with impending force just below the surface.
a color: a red so dark it seems black until it’s in the light. Devil’s Advocate nail polish by Essie is its bottled essence.
an emotion: Intuitive.
a fruit: Dare I say, banana?
a sound: Horse hooves on snow.
an element: Oxygen.
a place: Deep frosted woods.
a taste: Chai tea.
a scent: Black orchid (Tom Ford).
an object: Mercury glass mirror.
a body part: Collarbones.
a song: It’s unjust to just pick one. Come As You Are (Nirvana duh) or Wild Horses by Bishop. Neon by John Mayer.
a pair of shoes: Black leather paddock boots.

In case any of you were wondering if my dog was spoiled on Christmas. It was Al’s first one so Santa really spoiled him rotten.
