So I enjoy lipstick, but I have so much trial and error with it that I mostly end up giving up on trying to find the right brands. I get it and later when I use it, it feels dry and sticky and not natural or smooth how I'd like. Any suggestions? ♡♡

I hear you - lip products are the most frustrating aspect of makeup for me too. Finding the right formula is tough.

Regardless of the lipstick, though, I would say it’s all in the prep:

Exfoliate your lips first to get rid of dry patches that the product will cling to (I like the Fresh lip polish, Jeffree Star has some good ones too)
Condition with a light balm (even an EOS balm or a Rosebud Salve)
Fill in with a creamy pencil (one of MAC’s pro formulas, ColourPop or even Kylie Cosmetics has some good creamy ones)
Apply the lipstick from there, and you can set with a setting product to make sure nothing budges, migrates or flakes off. I like this one from Model In A Bottle.

I hope that helps!

“In October any wonderful unexpected thing might be...

“In October any wonderful unexpected thing might be possible.” -Elizabeth George Speare

Nothing like a rainy October walk with my wild pig. Days like these we take a moment to breathe in the crisp October air, feel the leaves crunch beneath us as we float along, and we’re grateful to be living back in Virginia again

Obsessed with your style. Where do you like to shop?

Aww shucks, I’ve never really considered myself a fashion girl honestly.

H&M, ASOS, Missguided, NastyGal and occasionally Urban Outfitters are probably my go-to.

Life Via The Camera Roll [Left to right: Alfalfa’s first...

Life Via The Camera Roll

[Left to right: Alfalfa’s first birthday party, two photos of a camping trip with my boyfriend Paul and his motorcycle club from last weekend in Maryland, my birthday celebration in NYC before dinner and then in central park. Middle: Camping in Cunningham Falls State Park. Bottom left and right: My birthday dinner on October 17th in Virginia the day I moved back]

Well, hi! I’m back from my short absence… I can explain! (For those who have me on snapchat, you’ve heard this already. @loveannapatrick)

In a nutshell: Moved to NYC, had Alfalfa’s first birthday, had Meditations In Wonderland’s first birthday, had my 26th birthday, moved back to Virginia, and here we are.

It has been a trip, but I can say I’ve learned a lot in a very short amount of time - that home is where the heart is, that when you have a strong intuitive feeling the universe will throw it in your face until you finally choose to see it, that acting on it is both the right thing and the hardest thing to do - but you have to do it, and, finally, that October really is the greatest month there is.

If I had to reintroduce myself: I’m Anna, I’m 26, I live in northern Virginia, I’ve been an author for a year now, a dog mama for a year now, I’ve run my own business for almost a year now, I’m grateful, I’m in the right place at the exact right time, and I finally feel like I’m home.

Where we go from here: Now that I’m back, I’m getting to all of your inbox questions, feel free to keep sending them there. Regular updates, a Meditations In Wonderland Christmas/1st birthday party book giveaway to come, and of course you can still send me your book or any notes to my P.O. Box:

As always, thank you for believing in me, thank you for believing in my writing, and thanks for being there the last few weeks when life was both bitter and sweet,

Anna

It’s not a snapchat Halloween dog filter but I’ll play along.
