Idyll Poetry Daily Challenge – Diamond Simplicity – #PoetryChallenge

[image error]

Today I shall embark upon another year of Poetic Inspiration!  Crazy? Probably, but Marvelously Rewarding as well.  After an entire year of Haiku, one might think the prospect of staring at another full year of prompted writing would be daunting, and one might be right (or Write, depending!) However, if you know anything about me at all, it’s that my love for words and poetry is nearly as boundless as my delight in finding new ways to express that wealth of emotion.

SO, today marks Day One out of 365 in the Idyll Poetry Daily Challenge!!!

What is an Idyll poem?  Funny you should ask.

An Idyll poem is a short poem that creates a story and paints a picture of everyday life, while making things that at first seem simple much more important. In a world that always seems to be moving so fast, this type of poem is great because it helps the poet and the reader to appreciate the small things in life. Sometimes, you just need to stop and smell the roses!

Quick stats

Idyll poems are short: Approx. 16 lines

Topics focus on the importance of the small things in daily life

Ingredients usually include: People and animals in a natural surroundings

Dates back to: Ancient Greece **

Sounds Perfect! After all, much of my own poetry and writing evolves around the principles of Finding Calm, Enjoying Nature, and Living Harmoniously, so what could be better than a year’s worth of poetry lauding the same?

As such, each day I shall select an image that Inspires and allow the Spirit of Expression free reign!  I hope you will enjoy what that Spirit Inspires and might choose to Sing Along!

Walking in the garden

Beneath the blushing auburn sky,

Gaze blissfully enraptured,

Heart enigmatically wondering why;

Why should it be so challenging

To Walk and See the Grandeur

Of this Diamond Simplicity

In riches named so poor?

Upon the burnished red-bud

Blooming in sweet glory;

Lilting through the music

Of the Sparrow’s humble story;

Caroling in timeless refrain

Through gilded star-lit skies,

Through these simples Blessings

The Spirit Laughs and Sighs!

So This is What Eternity Looks Like – Into Eternity #5Star #BookReview

[image error]

.

“So this is what Eternity looks like.”  I felt the jaded disappointment in those words.  I understood the sensation of wonder and the longing that could never be fulfilled.  Although these words are spoken by a supporting character that only comes into the story in the second book of the series, they carry the sentiment of the entire trilogy.

Into Eternity took me on the final leg of a journey I never expected and could not have anticipated.  It swept me off into lands unknown that were hauntingly familiar. As the dystopian landscape unfolded before me with horrifying clarity, the poignancy of this Vampire-Introspective-SciFi-Mindbender became all too clear and, like the masterfully developed characters that drew me into their tale, I experienced their terror, bitterness, and skeptical hope right along with them through page after page of plot twists that kept me guessing, literally, right up to the closing chapter.

Richard M. Ankers has woven a unique and unforgettable saga through the voices and lives of those we typically fear or despise; altering our own perceptions right along with the characters of this brilliantly penned epic.

Queen Serena and her allies have fled the Nordic massacre, taking Princess Linka with them. For Jean, it’s heartbreak; for Merryweather and the abandoned Aurora, far worse. Not even the return of a broken Prince Grella and a dramatic escape from an obliterated Hvit softens the blow of their loss. Tempers flare and the pursuit resumes.

Leaving the Arctic ice behind, Jean and the others must reconcile with both current and past deaths, as they close in on the Baltic home of the hated Duke Gorgon. Here, their enemies gather and confrontation is inevitable.

Under Merryweather’s frustrating tutelage, Jean marches from one infuriating revelation to another, but as the lies unravel and the truth unfurls, he discovers the Britannian is not the fool he’s taken him for. The enigmatic Merryweather appears the key to the greatest mystery of all. But will he ever show his true colors?

In the stunning climax to The Eternals Series, a brooding Jean must do what he’s never done before: place his trust in others. For only at the end of all things, as the sun dies and Shangri-La falls, will Jean know what it means to step Into Eternity.

Wonderland – #DailyHaikuChallenge

Glorious Beauty

Inspiration for the Soul

Poet’s Wonderland

.

Today is the Final Day for my Daily Haiku Challenge.  I cannot believe it’s been a year already!  Creating a new Haiku each day as the seasons changed and life shifted was a beautiful challenge that helped me me more aware of the natural world around me.  It taught me to find expression in brevity (Shakespeare was right!) and has Inspired me to keep the challenge going, although in a slightly different direction.

Although the Daily Haiku Challenge may be over, I have decided that having a daily poetry prompt is a good thing! (and I hope you may have as well ;)) SO…..beginning tomorrow, I shall embark upon a new Inspirational Challenge and Hope you will join me!

Kiss the Stars – #RomanticTuesday #Love#Poetry

[image error]

.

Oh My Sweet, In Sadness do I lay down,

Breathing One Prodigious Sigh

Upon the Bosom of the Darkling Night;

Closing my eyes in the Vast Loneliness,

Silent Transgression against All my Heart Yearns for,

Dreams of,

Desires,

And in the Soliloquous Hush,

Kiss the Distant Stars in Longing to be Kissed.
