I like that! I’ve tried to keep it mostly digital so I can keep it going while traveling but there is something special about having a physical thing to use.
Hope you’re well! Has been too long!

Hey Taylor,
here is sth that I recently started doing that you might find useful:
I put sticky notes up all around my house with the individual habits/tasks on them as a visual reminder. E.g. a note on my mirror to remind me to think about 3 things I am grateful for when I brush my teeth. Or one by my bed to for writing in my dream diary in the morning.

Hey Dave,
First, thanks for the kind words! Second, check out the response to Simon above. I think the important part is figuring out your “chunks” and then prioritizing them mentally (time for family and exercise first, “maker” work third, etc). Doesn’t have to be precisely like I laid out, just giving something to go off of.

For those calls and meetings another tool is http://Appointment.one.
It intelligently adds time buffers between your appointments so you aren’t double booked. For example you can choose that appointments done via a phone call need no buffer whereas an on-site client visit should accommodate travel time.

Hey Taylor – how successful are you at completing these things every day? I find it impressive but for me personally it would be a little too rigid.

Fantastic read and exactly the sort of rituals I’ve made an attempt at instigating myself. I have two problems though… a 4 year old and a 1 year old!

Really powerful stuff Jeremy.
This line absolutely slapped me in the face because it’s just so true for me: ‘by choosing to focus on many things, we guarantee that none will work.’
Not so ironically, I was finishing off Peter Drucker’s ‘Effective Executive’ today with some very similar ideas around those who succeed choose to commit one task at a time. Something I now know I need to force myself to do if I want to see a change.

Taylor your are becoming a serious thought leader. The essay invoked a series of instant changes in me, firstly I am writing this comment and I almost never comment, secondly I shared this on my personal Facebook feed which I seldom share blog posts to. I know your backstory involved a good few courage moments so you drink your own cool aid. Seth Godin would say something like ‘thanks for showing up for all of us and doing the real work’.
