Avengers Re-Watch Project

Some Thoughts on Age of Ultron

Ever since EndGame came out, I’ve been re-watching all the Avengers Infinity Saga Marvel films–albeit rather slowly. And since I’m now roughly in the middle, I thought it might be time for an update!

Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy still number among my favorite Marvel films, with the first Iron Man a strong contender as well. The surprising standout for me, though? Avengers: Age of Ultron. I really enjoyed my re-watch of the film, and it led me to...

Coming March 3: ALTER EGO

Hollywood days. Vigilante nights.
To the world, she’s a star.
To the league of heroes who raised her? She’s a liability.

Mary’s got a penchant for gadgets, a resume packed with criminal-busting credentials, and a reckless streak that tends to land her in trouble. So when a potential recruit blazes a trail through a local bar—literally—Mary blows off league protocol and whisks the girl off to HQ. But Mary’s heat-of-the-moment rebellion endangers her family when the recruit’s father shows up;...

The Avengers Fan’s Book List

I don’t know about you, but I love a good team effort. Personality clashes, slippery loyalties, and found family–I just can’t get enough of these stories, which is probably why I love the Avengers so much. The novels on this Avengers-inspired book list might not all be about superheroes, though some definitely are. But they do all have large and lively casts, and characters who, for the most part, are trying to do the right thing. And isn’t that what ultimately defines a hero?

Renegades by M...

Phantom Song is Here!

Angel of music. Instrument of justice.

As the fashionably veiled operatic sensation of Landry City, Claire Leroux is adored by the masses. But Claire must never let her fans discover what hides behind her mask–a body that’s half-machine and hellbent on vengeance.

Offstage, Claire hunts for the man whose violent act made her a cyborg and killed her parents. The people of Landry City might despise cyborgs, but her home is all she has left, and Claire means to protect it. Just when her double...

Retellings: Cued from the Classics

Fairy Tale retellings, ala Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles, have been ala mode in the book world for quite a while. These days, though, it seems like re-told and re-imagined versions of classic literature are packing the shelves. Here are some of my favorites–and a few more I’d love to check out.

The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White

When they put “dark descent” in the title, let me assure you that they truly meant it. This retelling of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is...
