Omnimystery News elicits Robert McClure’s motive for theme of DEADLY LULLABY

Omnimystery News Twitter Logo In “A Conversation with Crime Novelist Robert McClure”Lance Wright, owner and manager of Omnimystery News, asks Robert McClure to describe his writing process.  Using Deadly Lullaby as an example, McClure says he shoots for an opening scene with a theme and premise that he’s always wanted to read but hasn’t:
“I always start any story by deciding on a theme; in Deadly Lullaby the theme was ‘father-son relationship.’ Then I develop a premise, the one in Deadly Lullaby being, “A mob hit man is released from San Quentin and yearns to reunite with his son, who is an LA police detective.” Then I take off writing by the seat of my pants and try to write an opening scene that defines the theme and premise, one I’ve always wanted to read but couldn’t find anywhere.”
Omnimystery News asks Robert McClure: “If you could travel anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, to research the setting for a book, where would it be?”  For those who have read Deadly Lullaby , how do you think McClure answered?  To find out, click here and read the interview.  Omnimystery News also elicits insights from McClure on his hobbies and interests, his take on reader feedback, and his current project, The Slow Dawn , the continuing saga of Babe and Leo Crucci.

If your excuse for not buying DEADLY LULLABY is only because you are waiting for the hardback or paperback to come out (so you can pay the higher price), I appreciate that you are willing to wait and willing to pay more.  However, you can help make a paper version of my book DEADLY LULLABY a reality sooner by helping to increase the eBook sales of my book now — and, for goodnesssakes, the download is only $2.99.  Moreover, even if you have never before downloaded an eBook, I am making it super easy for you to do.  My wife has gone to the trouble of locating the eReader apps available for most types of devices.  Below, I have listed the device type followed by the multiple versions of eReaders for each device type.  Each eReader app in blue font has an embedded hyberlink that you can click to go straight to the eReader store to download that app FOR FREE.  All you need to do is choose the eReader of your preference from the list of devices and apps below.

Spotlight on the novel DEADLY LULLABY by SolaFide Publishing

SolaFide Publishing features Deadly Lullaby by Robert McClure

SolaFide Publishing featured Deadly Lullaby and an interview of its author, Robert McClure, on its webpages this week.  Here’s an excerpt of the interview:
“My first experimentation with fiction writing probably started in the mid-nineties, when I was an impossibly busy trial attorney with a big law firm and would write a scene every now and then, just for chuckles. I quickly became hooked, and after years of struggling to fit fiction writing into my crazy trial schedule, my beautiful wife, lover, and friend, Kathie, sat me down, looked me dead in the eye as only she can do and told me—no, ordered me—to quit practicing law full-time and concentrate on learning to write crime fiction. Six months after that, in mid-2003 or so, Hardboiled Magazine [Issue #35 published by Gryphon Books in New York,] accepted my first story for publication—Leon’s Way, a story about a death row inmate awaiting execution for a murder his wife committed. I’m still in the law game solely to make ends meet, and fiction writing is my professional priority.”

Deadly Lullaby Novel Garners Another 5 Star Review!

5 Star reviews for Deadly Lullaby by Robert McClure A new 5-star review was posted on Goodreads over the weekend for Robert McClure’s new crime fiction novel Deadly Lullaby .  The reviewer, who has over 750 book reviews to his credit, writes: “I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and the characters and story line made for a quick read as well.  . . .  Leo feels pressure from his boss and from his past that he has been avoiding with his father and though Babe wants to talk about it Leo keeps putting it off. This all comes to a head at the end for a very dramatic ending, but I would not have it any other way.  . . . A great book, with good characters and a story that keeps going all the way to the end.”  To read the full review posted on October 17, 2015 by P.e. on Goodreads, click here

Babe Crucci’s creator, author of Deadly Lullaby, interviewed by local media

Babe Crucci, Deadly Lullaby, crime fiction thriller novel Hey, it’s Babe Crucci here.  Connie Leonard of WAVE3 News in the Derby City interviewed my creator, the author of the book I star in, titled Deadly Lullaby .  You can see the whole flipping interview by clicking here.
“Robert Darrell Bubba Mac Bob McClure” (the author has a lot of aliases doesn’t he) tells Leonard that I’m a career hitman.  Yeah, that’s right, but I only whack really bad guys.  The story begins with me getting out of San Quentin.  I’d really like to leave my life of crime behind, and more than anything, I want to reunite with my son, Leo.
Poor kid.  I was in the clink during most of Leo’s formative years.  Guess that’s why he’s a police detective now, with the LAPD.  So you know our reunion will be a challenge — there are gonna be a lot of bumps in the road, involving crime lords, thugs and more than a few corpses.  We will have to come to terms with the ghosts of our past to see this through.
It’s a father-son story, but you won’t need a box of tissues to get through it.  What you will need is preparation — be prepared to for a lot of twists and turns.  I hear many readers say that they just cannot put the book down until they reach the end.
Deadly Lullaby, by Robert McClure, published by Random House imprint Alibi It must be good — some French dude loved the story enough to ask “Robert Darrell Bubba Mac Bob McClure” to write another one about me.  He’s writing The Slow Dawn, the follow-up to Deadly Lullaby right now (unless you’re reading this post during a certain college or pro football game — some things take precedence over keeping my felonious character in action I guess – a man has to have his hobbies).
Deadly Lullaby is available as an eBook from any of the following digital retailers:

Babe and Leo scene from Deadly Lullaby featured on Shine Like Stars blog

Deadly Lullaby, by Robert McClure, published by Random House imprint Alibi Babe Crucci and his son Leo are the central characters in the crime fiction thriller, Deadly Lullaby , a rollicking novel about family and felony by Robert McClure . The book blog,  Shine Like Stars in the Universe , features the following excerpt from the novel where Babe and Leo are arriving at an isolated warehouse to resolve Leo’s gambling debt with a mob boss:
We drive side roads for about fifteen minutes, then pull in to the parking lot.
My son says, “It’s a setup. I can feel it.”
He parks at the end of a row of luxury cars. I say, “Nah, this old warehouse has just got you spooked, that’s all.” I look it over and make some professional observations: “We are, what, over four miles outside the nearest town? Christ, you could fight a war out here and never upset a civilian ear. It is a perfect place for a hit.”
This is not what he wants to hear.
I recognize this and say right away, “But Macky would’ve already whacked you if that’s what he wanted to do. Relax.”
He asks me a question that comes from nowhere, as if it is something that has occupied his mind all along: “Why are you doing this for me? Why?”
