Yet Another Work in Progress

I’m not sure if I have ADHD or some kind of anti-relax anxiety thing, but I can’t seem to sit still for more than 5 minutes. I’ve always got a lot on my plate, and I guess I like to keep piling it on. But I’ve heard that a lot of hard work pays off, so I must be doing something right.

While my novel is currently in the editorial stage of production, I have begun researching and outlining my next novel. This one will be a sequel to the first, with the same protagonist, Eddie Creighton, and a f...

Getting Published

Great news…I finished editing my novel a few weeks ago! It has been a wild, long ride, but I’ve finally finished. I submitted my manuscript to a couple different publishing houses, and was accepted by two! Both offers were pretty similar, but I was able to choose one that was the best match for me as an author.

There’s only one problem…I can’t afford to pay the initial investment. It’s not that much, but I won’t be able to scrape it together for months. I could really use some help. I created...

Ugh, editing!

So my first draft is finished, but the editing process has stalled. I’m still waiting for a little feedback from some friends and family who are reading the manuscript, but I have a few things that I already know need to be added and adjusted. I just haven’t taken the time to get started making the changes.

So what am I waiting for? Well, I have a few distractions that take up quite a bit of my time…school is a minor one (I only have classes three nights a week), but I’m currently on Winter B...

First Draft in the Books

Yesterday I completed the first draft of my novel (insert happy dance here)! I know I still need to go back through and and some more details – more meat to fill it in – but it feels so good to have the story out and on paper. Once I got to the last few chapters, it just started pouring out of me. I’m pretty satisfied with how it all came out, so I know once I go through and flesh it out a bit that readers will enjoy it too.

I’m excited about the next steps. I’m talking to several traditional...

November 1, 2017

Hello, November!

Today is the start of a new month which, in and of itself, means squat. And maybe it’s the sugar rush from last night’s Halloween candy haul, but I’m pretty excited about this month, for a couple of reasons…

First, November is National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo, for us cool guys). Basically, thousands of authors participate in a time-driven writing exercise. The goal is to complete a 50,000-word (at least) novel by the end of the month. It’s the old concept of a writers’ circle combin...

Writing Can Be Hard

I’ve been working on my next book for almost a year now. I’m making good progress, but it’s hard to find the time to write. I’m usually pretty adept when it comes to outlining my ideas, so I did that for this novel. About a year ago, when I came up with the idea for this book, I began an outline of the major points in the plot using the 7-point story structure method. After that, I developed a timeline of key events in the book, giving me a realistic parameter to the time period that would be...

A little about me…

As introductions go, I’m a pretty simple guy. I’m a married father of three beautiful children (and one dog). My wife and I were friends for a decade before we dated and married. My family is definitely my greatest achievement, and that will always be a fact, regardless of what else I achieve in my life.

I grew up in Gainesville, FL. I have spent the majority of my life in Florida, but at 19 years old, I enlisted in the Army. I spent the next 17 years bouncing around the world…Stateside in So...
