Bonds Series

Inspiration

The idea for the series began with the conception of Crave. I knew that my hero, Reece, had a friend who was also acted as a mentor character. Crave is a reconciliation story, and I needed a way for them to meet again. So it made sense that the same character could act as a bridge between the hero and heroine.

As I brainstormed, the character of Julien Bonds was formed. He is larger than life, a genius who doesn’t take himself seriously. He’s driven, restless, and quirky. And one of his favorite things is meddling in others’ lives.

It wasn’t until I’d written the first three chapters and sent them to Totally Bound that I saw that Julien could be a continuing character in all the books in the series. I told Nicki Richards, the publisher for Totally Bound, that I thought that he’d be good “glue.” Nicki
thought that was an excellent idea.

I thought it made sense that Julien and Reece met in college. So it followed that the other heroes all went to the same school and formed a lifelong friendship. I had just moved to Texas as I was writing these books, and I love Austin. The University of Texas was the natural setting because it has respected business and engineering schools.

Four men. One powerful bond.

Crave (Bonds Book 1) - a look behind the book

Crave
Look Behind the Book

Bonds #1 Crave

One of my favorite storylines is that of reconciliation, second chances. It’s a bit tricky to pull off, though, because the conflicts that tore the characters apart need to be real and seem insurmountable. Otherwise the characters can seem unlikeable. On the other hand, if there’s growth, readers can forgive someone who realizes they screwed up. We
all sort of want to root for the underdog.

In Crave, Reece wants to marry and collar Sarah. But Sarah finds the collar, and it’s not a thin delicate thing. It’s weighty and meaningful. The sight of it frightens her. In a blind panic, she runs.

But a few years later, she realizes she made a terrible mistake, but she wonders if hindsight makes him and their relationship more appealing than it really was. She hopes one night with him will get him out of her system. So she turns to Julien for help.

In a room at Julien’s birthday party, Reece is stunned, shocked, and not at all pleased to find Sarah in a room waiting for him, on her knees, sexy and submissive as he always dreamed she would be. He struggles internally, from her abandonment, as well as his own desire. One thing hasn’t changed. He still craves her…

Claim (Bonds Books 2) - a look behind the book

Claim

Claim

This book rocked it onto the ARE and Amazon bestseller lists. And a reviewer said that Kennedy knocked a few book boyfriends out of the way!

Kennedy Aldrich gets his story. He intrigued me from the beginning. He’s from a very wealthy family whereas most of my characters are self-made. With that comes the expectation of taking over the family business and marrying well—preferably to a Mayflower descendent.

I figured a lot of women would want to marry him. So the perfect conflict is a woman who doesn’t want to marry him.

There’s a little bit of me in Mackenzie Farrell. She’s been divorced, and the loss of her marriage devastated her. She’s promised herself she will never remarry. Also like me, she turns to business to heal, and now she’s reached the point where she’s doing quite well on her own. Again, like me, Mackenzie resolved to remain single.

That is until she is swept away by a very determined male. (Also ripped from the headlines of my life. After a painful divorce, I was single for almost fifteen years. And a very determined hero swept me off my feet and married me in a fun ceremony on the beach at dawn a few months ago.)

Look behind the book

Command

Most times, my heroines have a little of me in them. Aria, the heroine of Command, is no different. Like me, she was a runaway bride. I had accepted a marriage proposal, but I ended up having serious doubts. Months later, I ended up canceling the wedding, donating the gown, returning the ring. I was crying as I told the man I couldn’t go through with it. It was a heart-wrenching time. It was years before I was ready to get that close with another man.

The hero in Command is, in part, inspired by my new husband. Like Grant, my guy is a bit of a romantic, but he’s equally uncompromising on what he wants in life and in a relationship. He will demand everything Aria has to offer. And it’s tons of fun along the way!

Sierra's latest works - The Donovan Dynasty

Look Behind the Book:

Donovan Dynasty

The Donovans were inspired by my move to Texas, the wide open spaces, the vibrancy of the state, the generations of families who’ve settled the area.

I was intrigued by the idea of writing about three brothers, but with a twist. Of course they’re all devilishly Dominant and they’re determined and focused to build the family’s legacy, but only two of the brother are legitimate.

I adored the idea of exploring complex relationship dynamics that I’ve never looked at before. Connor and Nathan are the real heirs to the majority of their father’s fortune. The oldest brother, Cade, is the result of a mad love affair that his father had with a beautiful horseback riding instructor.

So in addition to the trademark humor, intense sex scenes, and my characters’ integrity, you’ll find longer stories and more interesting subplots in the Donovan Dynasty trilogy.
