Why Blue?

Why Blue?
I was asked by a friend why the name Blue Saffire? There’s actually a story behind the name. If you have a minute, I’ll tell you.

In 2007, I lost my mom. I took the loss very hard. Like fall apart became a zombie hard. Now, something to know about me, I’m highly spiritual. I’m open to a lot, but what wasn’t and I’m not opened to is seeing or feeling spirits or ghosts.

My mom would visit others in my family, brush past them, leave her scent, and all that. However, she wouldn’t do this with me because I’m not open to it. I would get so sad because she was going to everyone else but me—but totally too freaked out to open myself to it.

This went on for the first few weeks or so. I’d begun to ask myself, why not me? That’s when the dreams started. My mom would meet me in them. Every time she would show up, she would adorn me in diamonds and blue sapphires from head to toe. EVERY TIME.

I actually wore a blue sapphire and diamond key around my neck in real life for a while. Anyway.

These dreams went on for a few years as I went through a ton of adversity because I struggled to pull myself together after her loss. It was like she was trying her best to guide me through.

In 2015, I had another dream. The first thing to know before I tell you about this dream, I don’t have children yet. If you’ve read Ballers 2, Reese was inspired by me. Those were my experiences.

Now, back to the dream. I was in a big bookstore, and there was a long line for me to sign books. On the table in front of me was a baby carrier and my books. My husband was standing slightly behind me to my right (my right-hand man).

Here’s the kicker. Blue Sapphire, Bestselling author, was floating through the air in the dream. I woke and punched my husband out of his sleep and told him to build me a website. I dug out Legally Bound and started to edit through it.

When he went to purchase my domain name, we couldn’t get Blue Sapphire. As web marketers, we knew Author Blue Sapphire wasn’t the best domain name to go with back then, so I said, hey, spell it Blue Saffire. It was available! With $3.00 to our name, we published Legally Bound one within a week. (Don’t sleep on those .99 cent domain sales.)

Fast forward three days from the day I hit publish, spirit whispered in my ear, “Go check your book.” I opened my laptop, and there it was. I was a bestselling author. My book was selling.

I was in my office alone, screaming, “Oh shit, oh shit,” while pointing at my laptop. My husband ran into the room to check on me. And all I could do was point, shake my finger, and repeat the same words.

And thus, Blue Saffire was born.

Well, that’s me for now. Until next time. Hugs! Muah!
With love,
Blue
