Just a Short Hop
Just a Short Hop
Part IEileen snuggled in close, her perfume was an intoxicating scent from an extinct flower called a Jasmine. If she said the word pain, my body would suddenly hurt. When she told me that she loved me, I could feel all the tingles and warmth of the first moment we kissed.

Writing
I stopped referring to the people in the book as characters. They have so much depth, they feel like friends. The genuine reactions and actions of the people in the book made them come to life on every page. The use of imperfect first person kept the...

I always tried to pay attention to wh...

Dying Light by Kory Shrum
So many answers lead to even more questions. Ms. Shrum manages to take the fantastical, blend it with real scientific theories, and come out with a genre bending idea on the zombie ideals. What if you had the power to save a persons life with just a touch? Now make it your job. For fun throw in a madman who may or may not be related to you. All of these things come together in the most mentally challenging way for our favorite heroine Jesse Sullivan.
What’s real and what’s fantasy blurs as he...
