What Do You Think Your Characters Look Like?

Wow, I love this blog post! The author, Burks, has been keeping me very busy! I’m in the process of re-rendering an old map of my high fantasy world Reath (rhymes with death — anagram for Earth) and now I get to have fun looking at the characters I drew and then I too can re-draw them! Thank you, dear!

E. Paige Burks

I’m a very visual person, as you might be able to tell from my maps. I like to have pictures that I can look back at and be like, ‘oh yeah, that’s what it looks like.’ Unfortunat...

A Look at Expository Literature by Melissa Stewart

Kudos to the author, Melissa Stewart! This looks like so entertaining and a wonderful idea of how to keep my middle school students engaged especially after they return from Spring Break! #DifferentiatedInstruction #KeepTheRigorOrGoInsane

Nerdy Book Club

Let’s start with a quick activity.

Make a list of five nonfiction children’s books you love. Place an N next to the books with a narrative writing style. These books tell a true story. Place an E next to the books with an expository writing...

Have You Stumbled Upon StumbleUpon?

Yet another social media outlet to join! #MotivationMonday!

Allison Maruska

I like to think I’m pretty savvy when it comes to the interwebs. I took to blogging easily, Facebook and Twitter are my favorite hangouts, and I’ve operated my self-publishing business almost entirely online. So imagine my surprise when I recently discovered two things: 1. That StumbleUpon exists, and 2. That it’s existed since 2002.

What??

su1 This is what my StumbleUpon page looked like when I logged in. I’ll explain i...

SNOW IN FLORIDA?

Wow. This poem is so cool and it ties in her latest novel? Hmm. I must check this out. Go Susanne!

The house waits in the cold

in the deepening snow.

Snow in Florida?

Brutal winds charge against it.

Icicles hang from it.

It holds strong and steady.

It waits for us

to give us shelter in the storm.

A dry place for fun and games.

What kind of games you make ask?

Deadly games of The Dead & gone.

Creatures in the walls.

A vampire’s family trapped in...

Villains

Antwan Crump has done it again! I’m developing using the E.V.I.L. technique to write a truly evil antagonist!

Eye of the Writer

Dear World

Please Kill Me,

Greetings, and Happy end-week, (or just Friday, depending on your level of enthusiasm). Welcome, and as always it’s a sincere pleasure to have you.

Assuming that you’ve got nothing better to do at the moment, (you don’t), how about we share some literary insight? (#MeFirst #OneSidedConvo.)

Any who’s it’s (whozits?),

10,000 March Writing Challenge

My writing life has been busier than ever. My youngest son finally turned one a couple months ago and as a result, and soon I hope to return to my “night owl” lifestyle of staying up late, burning the midnight oil and writing, reading, and writing.

I miss those days, but the time I spend with my children is so enjoyable . . . and makes good writing material! My oldest is learning to play the violin and my middle child has the funniest sense of humor! The one-year-old’s personality is develop...

How being a writer has turned me into a stalker #WriterWednesday #Amwriting

Lol. Dehaggerty is delightfully disturbing and oh-so-truthful regarding the quirkiness of writers. It’s a wacky world we often live!

D.E. Haggerty

Yes, it’s true. I’m a stalker. Before you call the police on me, please realize that I have no nefarious intentions. It started innocently enough (and isn’t that what they all say?). Whenever I had the good fortune that someone liked a blog post during one of my blog tours, I’d check them out. Do they have a website? Twitter? Goodreads? Facebook? O...
