Elizabeth Elliot Seeks a Husband Part II

Hello everyone! This is a continuation of the Persuasion-inspired short story I started last week. This time, we (and Elizabeth Elliot) get to meet the mystery man. 😀 Find Part I here

Part II. September

“Who exactly are the Peters?” Sir Walter Elliot demanded. “I do not recall ever meeting them.”

Elizabeth wished she could have attended the card party without her father, but he would not hear of them going to separate events. She looked out of the carriage’s window to avoid showing him that she w...

Pride & Prejudice: The Untold Stories~Lydia’s 16th Birthday at Brighton

June 12, 1812, Brighton

Sixteen! What a fine thing to be sixteen! Lydia Bennet preened in front of the mirror wondering if she looked as grown as she felt. Sixteen was a delightful age. Old enough to really be courted. Old enough to marry! Old enough to make her own decisions! Ha!

And there was a ball this evening and although it was not given in her honor of course, there was no one to stop her from pretending it was. She had a new gown to wear, scarlet with very daring sleeves that were so f...

Elizabeth Elliot Seeks a Husband Part I

I first posted this story four years ago and I thought it was worth putting out there once again. I almost exclusively write Pride & Prejudice variations, but I had wanted to stretch myself a bit and decided to explore a character from my second favourite Austen novel, Persuasion. Even more of a challenge—trying to make Elizabeth Elliot a sympathetic character!

There are three parts to the story, and I will be posting them once a week. I hope you enjoy my wee tale!

Part I: August (After the Wedd...

P&P The Untold Stories: Darcy Undone

A heartbroken Darcy returns to Pemberley.

June, 1812

At the first sight of Pemberley, he was undone.

In town, he had kept to his schedule, maintained his facade. No one who looked at him could have known anything was different. (Everything was different.)

With the haut ton, he knew just how to act: with confidence (arrogance), pride (conceit), and dispassionate rationality (a selfish disdain for the feelings of others). He was the consummate gentleman—at least, the sort of gentleman people in ...

New book coming soon! Cursing Mr Darcy by Amy D’Orazio

New book coming soon for those who love their Darcy and Elizabeth with a little touch of magic!  Cursing Mr Darcy will be available at the beginning of August but you can preorder it now!

An excerpt is below– hope you enjoy it!

It was the last week of the regiment’s stay in Meryton, and all of the young ladies in the neighbourhood were drooping apace. The dejection was almost universal. The elder Miss Bennets alone were still able to eat, drink, sleep, and pursue the usual course of their emplo...

Under May’s Changing Skies

Some years ago, I went down the rabbit hole looking for wedding-day superstitions, and came across this: ‘Marry under May’s changing skies – a chequered path before you lies.’ It was a line from a traditional English rhyme, and it tickled me, because it was a great fit for the plot and the timeline of Mr Bennet’s Dutiful Daughter, the book I was writing at the time.

I’m not quite sure yet when our favourite couple will marry in my current WIP. I’ll just have to wait and see how they get on 😛 . At...

A Visit to the Statue

I’m just back from a trip to England – my first in a few years, since before pandemic, and the loss of my husband last year.  Being  in England again gave me a stunning feeling of recognition, of being reconnected to places and things I love dearly, and that bring joy.  My son Paul and I spent two weeks in a thrilled state, reminiscent of what Helene Hanff, author of 84 Charing Cross Road felt when she first visited the England she’d loved all her life, and on all her future trips thereafter.  ...

His Family Objects Release Week Celebration

My latest book was released this past Monday. I posted the prologue a few weeks ago; you can find it here. While it shows us the angst in His Family Objects, today I want to show you the other side of the story—the love Elizabeth and Darcy share.  We also meet Georgiana Darcy, who has a significant (and, to me, very sad) role in the story.

Chapter 1

August 1812

The past four days in Derbyshire had been nothing short of magnificent, and this one would be exactly the same. Elizabeth looked into t...

P&P The Untold Stories: Lydia Enjoys Brighton

Wild with excitement, Lydia enters Brighton.

May 21, 1812

Early on a bright morning in late May, a gay party left Meryton: the  girls, Lydia and Mrs. Forster, with the latter’s little maid, traveled all day in Colonel Forster’s chaise, driven by a coachman, as the colonel rode with the regiment. By three o’clock they were on the high Downs, outside the Ramparts of Brighton, the sea a glittering line directly ahead.

Lydia, wild with excitement, hung halfway out the carriage window. “I can see it...
