On The Publication of a New Novel

On Tuesday, July 25th, 2017, my third novel, The Impostors Trail, will be released as an eBook and a paperback. This is an exhilarating event in any authors writing career. But, there is also a note of sadness during this time. At least there is for me.

Exhilarating because you now get to see if readers like your book. Sadness because the novel is finished. It can no longer be changed.I forget which author made the quote, but they wrote, A book is never finished; it's abandoned.

2017 – A YEAR OF CHANGE FOR BOOKS AND THOSE WHO READ

If you are like me, you love the feel of a book in your hands. There is something comforting about holding it and turning the pages as you follow the adventure being brought to life before you. While a physical book in your hands is still the norm, eBooks and audio books are making a surge in popularity. Plus where you buy your books is changing rapidly.

In 2016, micropublishers, Indie Authors (I’m one of them), and the presses associated with Amazon account for over a 50% market share. This

Think You Don't Need to be Edited? Think Again

Dark Jar Tin Zoo wrote, Making love to me is amazing. Wait, I meant: making love, to me, is amazing. The absence of two little commas nearly transformed me into a sex god. (Love Quotes for the Ages, Specifically Ages 19-91).

Every writer needs to be edited: Mary Higgins Clark, James Patterson, speechwriters for presidents, you and I (you and me?). Should I have inserted a period after that closed parenthesis? Or, is it parentheses?

It pays to self-edit your work before

The Evolution of a Protaganist

During a lunch conversation with several fellow writers, the topic of developing main characters came up. It was interesting to learn how even seasoned writers struggle with understanding their protagonist. If you are a writer, you probably recognize how important it is to know your main character. Particularly if writing a series, which I am. As the conversation developed, I was amazed my fellow authors did not use a trick I learned early in my development as a writer. The Interview.

I do

Great Authors and Great Reads

Ive been reading voraciously my whole life, a gift from my mother. She was an avid reader and seldom sat down without a book in her hand. She read to me before I could read and loved to buy books for me once I could. At one time, I owned the complete collection of The Hardy Boys books, at least the ones published at the time.

Every two weeks, we would load the car for a trip to the library. It was during those trips I discovered the exciting world of science fiction. Arthur C. Clark, Robert

Welcome to my website

The idea of having a website designed to promote my writing was a concept spanning several years. There was only one problem: I didnt have a published book to promote.

Problem solved.

The Fugitives Trail, a mystery/thriller,was released May 11, 2015, on both Amazon.com and BN.com.
So now I have something to promote. Thats nice. But, what else should I do with the website?

A very good question.

As I thought back on my own journey, getting a book published brought about pitfalls,
