Contest (ending April 19th!)

On Sunday, April 19th, I’ll draw the name of a commenter here on my blog, to win a copy of Cindy Miles’s MACGOWAN’S GHOST …

And also Kim Frost’s WOULD BE WITCH!

I’ll also throw in a copy of an ARC for SO STILL THE NIGHT.

I’ll be posting a bit more about these two books and their authors this week, but starting now, whenever you comment, your name will be thrown into Kim Lenox’s contest top hat.

Gasp!

That’s me gasping back to life!

(Thanks for the kick L.A.)

I’m headed out for the Easter weekend, but I’ll be back on Sunday. As most of you know — I’m not home quite so much anymore, and my blog posts have suffered for it. However, I just invested in a great little Acer netbook, and that should help me update the blog remotely. I’m so not a techie person, so I’m still figuring it all out, but I hope to jump into that this week.

Great news — Romantic Times Magazine has given my May release a Top

T. G. I. F!

Whoop! Who is ready for the weekend!? I am! I did not get as much writing done this week as I’d hoped, so I’ll make the most of Saturday and Sunday.

Don’t forget that I blog on Fridays at Silk & Shadows! What are we blogging about this week? Hmmmm. This is all the hint that I’m giving:

Come by and say hello!

And hey, come back here on Monday, because I will be announcing a contest to win two new release books! You know me — I like short contests! So we’ll announce a winner next Saturday.

World’s Best Selling Authors

According to Forbes.

1. JK Rowling, $300m

2. James Patterson, $50m

3. Stephen King, $45m

4. Tom Clancy, $35m

5. Danielle Steel, $30m

6. (Tie) John Grisham, $25m

7. (Tie) Dean Koontz, $25m

8. Ken Follett, $20m

9. Janet Evanovich, $17m

10. Nicholas Sparks, $16m

Out of the list, I’m a “big fan!!!!!” of King. I also like some of Koontz’s books. I’ve never read a Rowling, Evanovich or Sparks book. Shocking, I know.

Somehow I didn’t make the top ten. Darnit!

Archaeology

Those of you who have read NIGHT FALLS DARKLY have to know I’m interested in archaeology!

I saw this article in The Times today.

Archaeologists believe they’ve discovered the skeleton of Queen Cleopatra’s sister, the princess Arsinoe, put to death by Cleopatra and her lover, the Roman triumvir Marcus Antonius, in order to eliminate her as a rival.

An excerpt:

“Scholars have long debated whether she was Greek or Macedonian like her ancestor the original Ptolemy, a Macedonian general who was made r

Waving hello!

Hey, how did it get to be the weekend again so fast, without me posting another blog post?

I hope everyone had a super week. I went out to dinner with two other authors last night (and one crazy non-author) and we had a load of fun. Mexican food, with Barnes & Noble for dessert!

I bought my copy of Cindy Miles’ latest, MacGowan’s Ghost.

I’ve got a few quiet hours here in which to write, so I’d better get busy!

Best wishes to LA! I suspect (hope hope hope!) we’ll hear news of a book sale very soo

Saturday is for Writing

I’ve got a few errands to run today, and then I’ll spend the rest of the day writing! My apologies for the lack of posts recently, but my schedule has grown a lot more complicated. No, I haven’t had octuplets. I have returned to work full time. The blips in the economy affect us all, don’t they?

So I will need to be very disciplined in order to meet my deadlines — and meet them WELL (i.e., write a good book!)

That said, I will be posting on my blog regularly again. Regularly, for me, is about 3-4

Cindy Miles!

My critique partner (and dearest pal!) Cindy Miles has a REALLY COOL new website! Check it out! Trust me, you’ll want to flop down in a comfy chair and stay there all day!

If you haven’t read a Cindy Miles book before, her newest release, MacGowan’s Ghost, comes out in early February! I highly (HIGHLY!) recommend it! Gabe the Hero = drool worthy!

MacGowan’s Ghost–Feb 2009

Odin’s Thumb Inn and Pub may be owned by brooding Highlander Gabe MacGowan, but it is actually run by a crew of ornery ghosts, w

Seen any good movies lately?

I’ve gotten out of the habit of watching movies, but I watched a couple this past weekend!

I watched THE DUCHESS with Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes. Very good. Lord Lenox even enjoyed the flick. I would watch this one again.

Then we watched APPALOOSA with two of my favorite actors, Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen. I like Westerns, and I also really enjoyed this one. I thought the romance storyline (involving Rene Zellweger) was interesting …

And then I got sucked into ROAD TO PERDITION that wa
