Pre-order – BIOLAB ZEG!

YA SF book lovers!

With my Recycling Humanity’s third book in the series, Biolab Zeg, I’m trying something new. Pre-orders on Amazon. I’m hoping to get more reviews this way, so that the Recycling Humanity world is visible to more readers!

I love this post-apocalyptic world and the kick-ass young women and men that are making it a better place despite all the challenges I keep throwing at them. Biolab Zeg gets us even closer to the Migration toward humanities’ new home, and gives us yet another flawed but strong young woman to go through space adventures with.

As the date gets closer to the August 1, 2016 availability, I will give updates on how it’s progressing. Right now it looks like only the e-book is up for pre-order.

If anyone is interested in a free e-copy of Biolab Zeg in return for an honest review, email me at author (at) heatherleedyer (dot) com!

Thank you, awesome readers!

Recycling Humanity Awesome New Covers!

In 2015 when I published Recycling Humanity and Starlight Max, it was only going to be the two books in the series. I didn’t want to do a trilogy since I have issues with odd numbers (I know, right?). But I’ve had many readers requesting more stories in the Recycling Humanity universe, and I love the characters and the world they’re surviving in, so I’ve decided to write at least two more books. Four is a great number!

The third book in the series will be coming out this July 2016. To celebrate and prepare for its launch, we’ve created all new covers! When I originally was going to have only the two books we did a special photo shoot with an amazing model for the cover. It was an incredible experience to go through the whole process. But now that I’ve introduced at least two more books to the series, I need covers that will all go together. And my graphic artist did an awesome job! Such fun!

Hope you enjoy these covers! I’ll have news of #3 soon!

Purpose in Words

I encourage everyone on Earth if they can’t make it up to space in their lifetime (such a small percentage of us are that blessed), to visit a foreign country, experience another culture, or travel widely in their own country.

Traveling outside of our comfort zones gives us perspective outside of ourselves. We get so set in our ways and stagnant in our thinking that our dreams tend to wither and die. Without people that pursue passionate, purposeful, and creative dreams and ideas, humanity will become critical and apathetic.

One of my passions is writing and I always strive to learn and improve on it. I also love space sciences and science fiction equally. I get excited to watch the next Youtube video from the space station or the next Star Trek movie. I am heartened by the STEM education in schools as our country tries to get young people excited about math and sciences.

To combine my passions, I write Young Adult Science Fiction. I also read YA and science fiction books widely. My goal is to encourage readers of all ages, but especially teens, to get excited once again for space exploration and travel. We need to keep the current advances made by NASA, Virgin Galactic, SpaceX, Blue Origin, Orbital Sciences, Bigelow Aerospace, Space Dev, and dozens of other space programs worldwide, moving forward.

Through my Recycling Humanity series of novels, my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/heatherleedyer/?ref=hl, my twitter account https://twitter.com/HeatherLeeDyer_, and my email newsletter at http://www.heatherleedyer.com, I hope to entertain and educate teens and adults about the different aspects of space living, travel, and exploration.

Time Salvager by Wesley Chu

To be honest I don’t usually like time travel stories. They are just not the kind of science fiction novels that usually excite me. I do enjoy anything with space ships, kickass not-so-perfect heroes or heroines, a bit of romance, and even aliens. My favorite type of stories by far are dystopian. There is nothing better to make your daily struggles seem insignificant than reading about Earth and civilization being destroyed. Seriously, your boss refusing your vacation time at work doesn’t even compare to a natural disaster that decimates three quarters of humanity, or alien ships hovering over Earth’s major cities. I love science fiction!

Time Salvager does have several of these aspects of SF that interest me, and Mr. Chu did win the John W. Campbell award, so I thought maybe I would read it. What really encouraged me to pick up Time Salvager, even though I already had a TBR pile that was overflowing, was that I got to meet Mr. Chu at WorldCon 2015. Actually, I ran into Mr. Chu many times during that week. We joked about who was stalking who at the convention. He is an amazingly nice guy who even indulged this fan girl with a picture with him and Mur Lafferty.

So I did read Time Salvager, and I love it. Even though time travel is entwined in the very fabric of this story, it isn’t dry and boring. There is an everyday aspect to time travel in Time Salvager that makes it appealing and does not overshadow the story unfolding between the characters. James and Elise are kick-ass, believable, and interesting. The adventures they are put through are fast paced and true to who they are as characters.

I would highly recommend Time Salvager to any SF fan (even those who aren’t usually crazy about time travel), and I also look forward to reading Time Siege, coming out July 12, 2016. Hopefully I can get this one signed as well by Mr. Chu at the next WorldCon. Perfect timing for this book release!

The Child Goddess by Louise Marley

—- Winner of the 2005 Endeavor Award —-

I love science fiction, and Louise Marley’s novel The Child Goddess is the first book of hers that I have read. It goes beyond a futuristic first contact story, it’s a compelling sci-fi read that weaves themes of different views of spirituality and questions of medical ethics throughout world-wide and personal dilemmas. The story flows well throughout different settings and different point of view characters. It’s a delightful read even for those who might not generally read science fiction.

The characters of Isabel (Mother Burke), Oa, and Simon are so vividly and passionately written that the reader is personally touched by their interpersonal interactions as they strive toward answers to an ancient and dangerous mystery. I really do hope for a sequel to this novel, as I fell in love with the characters and am interested in seeing how their paths continue on. http://www.amazon.com/The-Child-Goddess-Louise-Marley-ebook/dp/B014SCK36Q/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

The 9-to-5 Escape Artist by Christy Hovey

51wQUyK4vwL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_There are a lot of books out there for aspiring entrepreneurs. Christy Hovey’s book The 9-to-5 Escape Artist rises above them all with her sense of humor and the way she empowers and motivates the reader in logical and clear steps. Just looking at the table of contents will show how many excellent details Christy has packed into this book. But these aren’t just dry facts that make you feel like you’re reading another business how-to manual. Christy’s book reads like you’re sitting next to her at a coffee shop discussing business with a close friend.

Her sense of humor and personal anecdotes make the information easy to digest and put into action. Her positive and assertive voice urges us to use all this information to move forward to make our lives and those around us better. As Christy says in the beginning of chapter two: “Our limited thinking makes us live in a state of small expectations.” I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to start an online business, or who would like to improve and enrich an existing one. Get this powerful book today! The 9-to-5 Escape Artist
