Grace (The Marriage Market Book 2) by Stevie MacFarlane

Grace-TMM-SM-ThumbnailTitle: Grace (The Marriage Market Book Two)

Author: Stevie MacFarlane

Publisher: Blushing Books

Blurb:

Grace Wentworth and Effie Lane were cautiously optimistic when their dear friend Amelia decided to travel west to become the bride of a man she’d never met. Despite their misgivings they were stunned when Amelia wrote informing them she’d made a dreadful mistake in marrying Mr. Jordon.

Determined to rescue her dear friend from the clutches of a scoundrel, Effie made plans to leave for Seattle immediately. Grace would follow when she could get away from the ever watchful eye of her mother. Everything changed when Grace was forced to accept the proposal of a cruel and violent man. Suddenly her mother’s wrath could not compare with what she would face as Horace Remington’s wife. Throwing all caution aside, she fled with Effie even knowing her mother would most likely hire a Pinkerton man to find her. However, she never expected to fall for him as they played a game of cat and mouse from Chicago to Seattle.

For Jonah Blackthorn, apprehending a runaway socialite seemed like an easy assignment. Locating two young, inexperienced women would take him no time at all and the five thousand dollar reward offered by the frantic fiancé would go a long way as Jonah had plans to leave the agency to begin a new chapter in his life.

What he didn’t plan on was being outwitted by the brats or the fact that Effie Lane wasn’t relying on her wits alone to get them safely to Seattle. He also didn’t expect to come to care for the redhead traveling with her gun-toting friend. When he finally caught up with them he was going to give Grace the spanking of a life time or kiss her senseless. Maybe both.

Excerpt

By the time their train neared the station in Omaha, both Effie and Grace were convinced Jonah Blackthorn had more than a passing interest in Grace. Each time they left their compartment he magically appeared full of compliments as well as questions.  No matter when they went to the dining car and they tried multiple unusual times, there he was.

At first Grace was flattered, but as the train took them further west she began to see his questions about their background and destination as much more than curiosity. Despite his good looks and charming manner, he’d become a prying annoyance and she’d told so many stories she feared she’d never be able to keep them straight.

“You were right all along, Effie,” Grace whispered, nodding as Jonah approached their table and pulled out a chair.

“Well ladies, we should be in Omaha in a couple of hours.  I take it you’ll want to go directly to the fort to see your father, Miss Brown,” he remarked, pouring coffee from the pot the porter brought to the table.

“Yes, I imagine so,” Grace replied, watching Effie for guidance.

“Good.  I hope you’ll allow me to escort you.  I’d very much like to meet your father and I have business there.”

Effie gave a tiny nod and Grace replied.

“It’s very kind of you to offer, Mr. Blackthorn.”

“Please, Miss Brown.  I thought we were beyond the formalities.  Don’t you remember you agreed to call me, Jonah?” he asked, smiling as he gently teased her.

“Of course, Jonah,” she murmured.

“That’s much better.  Miss Crumb, will you be traveling to Fort Omaha also?”

Effie narrowed her eyes before forcing herself to relax.

“Oh my yes, I wouldn’t dream of abandoning my dear friend at this stage of the journey.  Now if you’ll excuse us, we have some packing to do.”  Laying down her napkin, Effie rose from her seat.

“Certainly,” Jonah replied as he stood.  “I don’t want you two ladies to worry about a thing.  I’ll arrange for a carriage and meet you inside the station where you can wait out of the hot sun.”

“Thank you.”

“What are we going to do?” Grace hissed as they made their way back to their compartment.  “I think you were right all along, he’s a Pinkerton,” she continued sadly.

“Whether he is or he isn’t, he’s showing entirely too much interest in our plans for my peace of mind,” Effie said as they closed the door behind them.  “For all the talking he’s done in the last few days, he’s told us very little about himself.  I don’t trust a man who looks as good as he does and is a smooth talker besides.  We need to get rid of him.”

“What do you mean ‘get rid of him’?” Grace gasped, grabbing Effie’s arm.

“Relax, I’m not going to shoot him, just arrange for a little delay,” Effie said with a laugh.

Author Interview

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

When I got my first royalty check.

If someone made a movie of your life would it be a drama, a comedy, a romantic-comedy, action film, or science fiction?

Definitely, a romantic-comedy.

Author Bio:

Best-selling author, Stevie MacFarlane, lives in Upstate New York with her husband of many years.  They have a huge, close-knit family and frequently host twenty-five or more guests for dinner on weekends and holidays.  She currently has 16 books out, including two very popular series, Sugar Babies and The O’Malley’s.  To explain her writing preference she used a quote from her Amazon Author’s Page.

“All of my books are romances. I like a lot of conversation, a bit of humor, some fairly hot sex and spanking. If you’re into whips and chains, these probably aren’t for you. However, if you’ve ever watched a movie where the leading lady is being a perfect bitch and you feel like yelling at the leading man, “Oh my God, spank her you fool!” these might be right up your alley.”

Excerpt

“Make a sound and you’ll get another spanking,” Alexander says. His tone is firm but light. Unlike the last time, he doesn’t sound angry or disappointed with me. Is this how our lovemaking will be?

I’m both aroused and craving more of Alexander’s affection. I bury my face into the pillow, trying my best not to make any noise. I moan quietly as his lashings grow harder, burning against my skin, making me wet. I’m glad Alexander’s attention is on me. There’s something about his power and control that fires me up inside. Is he doing this to teach me a lesson for being naughty or to arouse me?

“No, Hannah.” Alexander’s answer is both quick and abrupt. “I’m the only one in charge.

Maybe I should spank you both regularly for sneaking around the castle, behind my back. Would that make sure it doesn’t happen again?” Alexander lets his hand land hard on my bottom. The sting grows fierce and I whimper in protest. When will his spankings turn to sex? He offered it to me the last time and I rejected him. It had been the only amount of control that I’d been given. Tonight, I would give him everything, and if he asked me to beg, I would.

Excerpt

Waiting outside the bathhouse, a gentleman, with honey-golden hair and eyes as green as the blades of grass on a summer’s day, stops in front of me. He looks me over and smiles. His face is covered in scruff and dirt licks his skin. “I approve.”

There’s an arrogance surrounding this man, and I have the urge to silence him.

“You approve of what?” I ask and cross my arms defensively. My eyes narrow, unpleased.

“I approve of you joining me in the bathhouse. Though I admit you look pretty clean already. Guess I shouldn’t be surprised.” He reaches out to touch a strand of my blonde hair and I swat his fingers away and force his arm down to his side.

“You’ve lost your mind.” My grip on his wrist is forceful, showing him who’s boss.

“What do you think you’re doing?” he asks, glancing down at my hand still holding his wrist.

A Character Interview with Hannah

Do you ever feel jealous of the queen, your former mistress and friend?

She’s still very much my friend. Sometimes late at night I’m jealous of the romance between Ella and Alexander, but I’ve come to accept my position at court. As for Ella being queen, that’s a job I would never want.

How hard is it for you to keep a secret?

Lies mounting up will get you caught. The goal is to weave a tale of truths into the secret so that you remember every detail. There are times I wish I didn’t have to keep secrets, but my life and those I love depend on it. I know how to keep my mouth shut. It’s not easy but I’m careful.

You travel to Paris quite a bit. Do you like it there?

It’s absolutely beautiful. There’s a wealth of silk, jewels, and other fine goods at the market that I can’t easily get elsewhere.

What about the men in Paris?

I avoid most of them as best I can. If I brought a gentleman back to the palace, Ella or Alexander would likely have my head.

It was in this filth, and amongst the seven deadly sins, that Tabitha Morgan was born and kept alive, hidden in plain sight from the darkness.

For seventeen years, Tabitha thrived under her grandmother’s guardianship, living a normal life and not knowing the truth about her heritage or the roots from which she came.

That all changes the day a handsome stranger named Nathan walks into her life. Will the ancient secrets he holds be enough to earn her trust? Is it the Light, or does Darkness await them beyond The Northern Gate?

Deep down I enjoyed this life, it was fun seeing the different towns. Seven months on the road, five months back at the yard. Day in, day out. Nothing changed except the weather and the accents of the fair-goers.

Until tonight. That’s when I see you standing there, looking back at me when my eyes find you. Even in the dimming light of the day and the harsh flashing bulbs, I see you blush before you look down, looking anywhere except back at me. A smirk creeps onto my face with my thoughts: you look beautiful in your baggy jeans and vest top.

The light captures your black hair shielding your face. I know I need to grab a shower before I head into the pay box, but I can’t seem to tear myself away from watching you.

His Princess was a little bit eclectic, a lot of eccentric, and a big time potty mouth. She was outgoing and loud, but held her friends and family close to her heart. She ranted about everything wrong in the world, yet her wild passion made him fall hard and fast. Life gave him the middle finger when she opened his eyes to the beauty around him—and right in front of him.

Her Prick-a-Doodle-Do was an uptight businessman through and through. He never saw the fun in anything and she knew right from the start she could have fun with this man and get him to see things differently. He made her see she didn’t have to always be alone, even when surrounded by people. A knack of bringing out the best in her made her fall for him, even if she didn’t want to admit it to herself.

Both were raised in ‘high society’, but where one was guided by the rules, the other had fun going against them. Though he was her new boss, she didn’t give two hoots about it so when she was given an opportunity to express her views about a certain subject, she readily agreed.

It’s now her personal mission to make Bossman’s life a little harder, while experiencing a little fun along the way, of course.

Because . . . if it’s a pain in the ass, then you’re doing it wrong.

An author? Yeah, well I’m getting there, hopefully.

I’m not really one for blabbing about myself, but I can give you a few starters, if you’re interested.

I’m a mum of four kids, two girls and two boys and I’m married to a wonderful man who puts up with my crap.

We live in an area near Southampton (UK) called the New Forest, which is very beautiful. There’s ponies, donkeys and wild deer and cattle all over the place, so it makes it very interesting living here at times.

I design for a living, but I am self taught, so I have a long way to go.

I’m a very down to earth thirty year old and yeah, I dabble with writing.

Looking for ways to stalk me…hehe…

A #sneekpeek of THE SAPPHIRE SACRIFICE by Ravyn Rayne #Dystopian with teaser and excerpt

TheSapphireSacrificex500Available August 20th from Blushing Books

A virus designed to murder Sapphire’s.

No one from Brayleigh saw it coming.

Neither James nor Aria expected four men in a deserted city to attack. Thrown into the back of a van, James is captured by claimers – men that hunt Sapphire’s and bring them into quarantine, where they must settle their debt for treatment. Those that can’t pay off their debt are held in the broker’s quarters until they’re bought by angels, often resulting in slavery, hunting humans, and a host of other horrendous atrocities.

Aria is different. She’s naturally immune, or so she’s told. On a mission to rescue James, she finds herself in danger and quickly learns the power of friendship, commitment, and undying love.

With a taste of age play, spanking, and a master/slave relationship with voyeurism, this dystopian erotic adventure is sure to leave you satisfied.

SNEAK PEEK

Aria screamed. The air left her lungs, and her cheeks burned red. Sweat trickled down her forehead. Adrenaline pumped through her veins as she fought off their attackers. All four of them were men, a few years older, and they wore black tactical gear. Were they militia? Their eyes were similar with a deep green stoic expression. They could all be brothers.

After the genocide of anyone not a sapphire, a person with blue eyes, Aria had taken notice of eye color. They still couldn’t get past their differences, not a hundred or even a thousand years later. The world always seemed to be at war over something. Besides, she had never met another person with emerald eyes, and now four of them were attacking James and herself. What the hell was going on?

James kicked at the assailant, trying to gain distance between him and the man attacking them, slamming his fist into the assailant’s face. Blood oozed from the man’s nose. Who was he? What did he want with them?

One man grabbed Aria, pinning her arms back, keeping her from stopping the attack on James. Why were they doing this? She attempted to shake the man off her, but his grip tightened. “Let me go!” She stomped hard on the man’s toe and then used her elbow to attack his chest behind her. Breaking free, she headed for James, wanting to help him any way that she could.

James fought two men and Aria ran forward, slamming her knee into the groin of a third assailant.

“Run!” James grabbed her hand and they took off on foot. His hand was wet and gross from the blood caked to his skin. James and Aria were a mess. Thunder rumbled in the distance. The sky a dark murky gray filled with low-lying clouds.

Aria’s heart beat wildly as if it would leap out of her chest. The pain unbearable, but neither of them slowed. Darting through streets and around broken down vehicles, she knew the men were close. She heard the engine of their vehicle one street over.

After the war, King Gideon rose in power. A lust-filled and greedy king that believed in the power of slavery.

At eighteen, women were required to come before King Gideon and his four sons, to offer themselves as a courtesan. The princes took only those they found most attractive and alluring. The rest were returned to their homes with a brand on their wrist proving they had been through the process and rejected. Ignoring the ritual was punishable by death.

Aria Stone had been kept hidden from the princes and the ceremony, because she was an Emerald. At twenty-three, the royal guards storm her home, murder her mother, and drag her to court. She must face the four princes.

A dystopian erotic adventure.

Excerpt

“Your guards murdered my mother, dragged and drugged me from my home. Anything else you wish to know?” Aria asked, short-tempered.

James stepped close enough to feel his breath against her cheek. “I can see your reluctance to be here, but I assure you no harm will come to you, Aria.”

It was hard to believe him given the circumstances. Aria crossed her arms defensively. She didn’t say a word. There was nothing to say that would please him and make her happy. She wouldn’t lie or pretend to care about him when anger ebbed away at her and boiled in her blood. Not when he made Aria think of her mother and asked her about what happened, as if he pretended to care. Unlike the other women here looking for something, she just wanted her freedom returned. Pretending eluded her.

Excerpt

“Hey!” Aria shouted, not that it did anything to stop their fighting.

“Enough!” James’s voice echoed in the confined space.

The men let go of one another and stood, dusting off the dirt caked to their skin.

A gentleman with red hair and blue eyes stepped toward Aria. He’d been one of the three fighting, a crewmember on the ship. “Do you know what they’re having us do?” he asked.

“No,” Aria said, glancing back at the die lying on the floor. Aria rolled the large die slightly with her hand. It stood up to her waist in height, though it felt lighter than it looked. She’d never seen a die quite so large. Who made it?

“The festival tonight is entertainment for the commander and the tribe. She’s choosing two from the pit and they’ll have to do whatever the die says.”

Aria swallowed nervously as she further examined the giant die. One side showed two people battling with swords. Aria frowned, turning the die onto another side, it revealed a pictograph of two men with guns in a shoot-out. That wouldn’t end well for someone. Her heart skipped a beat, and she rolled the die onto another side, covering her lips in surprise. Was that a paddle? Her cheeks burned and she took a step back from the die.

James didn’t appear nearly as affected as Aria from the news. He stepped forward, resting his hand on her lower back. “Do we know who has been elected for the festival?”

Kali shook her head. “The commander chooses two worthy opponents from the pit of invaders and mainlanders. Seeing as how the mainlanders have assimilated or died,” Kali said, clearing her throat, “it’s safe to say that one of you that has not been chosen by a tribe member, will be selected.”

The Bridge of Deaths by M.C.V. Egan

The revised edition was published on August 15th 2014.

Official genre of book:

It is Historical Fiction, but it is a blend of Metaphysical, Mystery, Non-fiction and Romance.

In the winter of 2009-2010 a young executive, Bill is promoted and transferred to London for a major International firm. He has struggled for the better part of his life with nightmares and phobias, which only seem to worsen in London. As he seeks the help of a therapist he accepts that his issues may well be related to a ‘past-life trauma’.

Through love, curiosity, archives and the information superhighway of the 21st century Bill travels through knowledge and time to uncover the story of the 1939 plane crash.

The Bridge of Deaths

Maggie liked Foyles at Charing Cross Road and shopped there often. She had been raised with all that is unlikely, unconventional, and supernatural (perhaps even magical). When she was a child, her world was that of fairies, ghosts, wishes, and the power of crystals and planets. She was taught that answers were to be found in round circles called astrology charts and that there were many people in the world who were psychic and could foretell the future. Although that world was an appealing world, it was inevitable that Maggie, as so many teenagers do, would rebel against the beliefs she was raised with and seek other philosophies.

She experimented with various traditional religions and belief systems that existed to fill in the voids felt by those lacking any sort of faith. She found that although she liked many traditional religions and appreciated what they stood for, it was indeed Buddhism that made her feel the most complete. Maggie was for all intents and purposes an illogical, whimsical, adventuresome, and happy young woman. She slept soundly and lived a very complete life.

The philosophies of acceptance by which she lived her life made her compatible with most people. She had a nice relationship with her mother, a Danish astrologer, and her father, a successful English businessman who was happy to receive a little guidance from the planets. (If anyone objected to this, he happily pointed out that it had worked for Ronald Reagan.) Maggie often read the books her mother spoke about, and every once in a while, she even joined her mother in some new age ritual or other.

It was the excuse of searching for the perfect birthday gift for her mother that placed her at the same book section and store. From the moment she saw the tall, slender man walking down the street, she felt that she needed to follow him. This is not something she remembered ever having done before. She was pretty, and more often than not, men approached her. Experience had taught her that many men worth talking to could be shy and sometimes needed to be approached. With the confidence that is often exhibited by very pretty women, she was not deterred in the least by his surprised reaction to her smile, and so she spoke.

“So, which of the women in your life recommended that book to you? Was it your mum or your girlfriend?”

She was indeed pretty, and inasmuch as he was instantly attracted to her, it was not in a purely physical way. Someday, as their love story flourished, she would explain to him that when two souls from the past meet, they recognize each other. This happens in love stories, to parents when they first encounter the eyes of their newborn, and to friends as well as enemies.

As so many lovers do, when they first met, neither one of them spoke the absolute truth. Like so many lovers starting out a new love story, if they had known where this would lead, both of them might have run out of the bookstore. But they both chose to stay, and so on a cold winter day in January of 2010, when the world was mourning the passing of so many souls in Haiti, their love story began. He smiled back and answered her question.

“Why would it have to be a woman? Why couldn’t a man recommend it?”

“Oh I see. You are an American.”

“No, Canadian actually.”

“Same difference. Perhaps in America or Canada, a man other than the author would recommend Many Lives, Many Masters. But here in England, well, it would have to be a girlfriend probably on her grand quest as to how you are soul mates eternally destined to be together, or maybe it would be a middle-aged mum who just discovered Brian Weiss, the author. So, it is that, or you have some sort of existential crisis that led you to find the book on your own. So, mum or girlfriend?”

“Hmmm, let me see. My mother prefers to pray and attend church. I don’t have a girlfriend, and it was the medical background of the guy who wrote the book, Dr. Weiss, that impressed me. So, maybe I do fall into the existential crisis category”

Her beautiful eyes widened.

“Existential crisis it is then, but if you seek impressive credentials in past-life therapy, you might want to read this book, Other Lives, Other Selves. Tell me, what triggered your belief in past lives?”

“Belief! I would not call it belief … possibility. I’ve come to realize that strange things happen.”

“You know, once you read that book, you will believe. In life there are certain doorways that once you cross them, they will forever change you. And you might also resolve your existential crisis. What you will definitely find is that women love to sleep with men who search for depth through such beliefs.”

So in that cold European winter when some in the world denied global warming, he lay in bed, holding her. He could not imagine a less likely place to have encountered the perfect girl, the self-help section at a bookstore. She was, by all accounts, very beautiful. Her laughter and smiley eyes were completely contagious. He was ready to settle down, and she might be the one, even if that involved accepting some very unlikely ideas that she held. There was the most extraordinary feeling of comfort in simply being with her.

Maggie had to laugh; she thought he’d be a quick and fun adventure, one that she would soon get out of her system. But this yuppie geek, as it turned out, was surprisingly special from the very first moment. This could be far more than a casual adventure.

Bill had not spoken to anyone about his problems. Not anyone other than doctors or therapists. Maggie worked counseling young kids. She was trained to ask just the right questions to make people talk. Bill was used to carefully giving only the information he wanted to give in business and in his private life. He sometimes caught himself telling Maggie much more than what he expected was safe. She thought that she knew just how to pry and could tell he was holding back; this, of course, made him all the more interesting.

Their love story grew and developed as some do. Maggie usually led and Bill followed. They enjoyed the typical things new couples enjoy, such as going to restaurants, the cinema, shops, and museums. Sometimes, if the winter weather allowed, they went for nice long walks. Before Bill met Maggie, he had spent all his time in London buried in his work, with his colleagues at the gym, or finding ways to run away from the dreams and thoughts that haunted him. He did this by playing any distracting “brain game” that helped him to forget the letters, the same five letters, on the wings and on the side of the aircraft in his nightmares.

He liked to remember how it had been the day they met there in the bookstore by the self-help and philosophy section while he had been holding the book Many Lives, Many Masters, a book that seemed sensible enough to explain past lives. (He had also noticed one discussing future lives. That seemed ridiculous, and he was wondering if in spite of Dr. Weiss’s credentials, this was the right way to learn more about past-life regression therapy.) It was right at that moment that she had smiled and spoken. He liked the thought of how later that day, before they left the bookstore together, they each had purchased a book; he bought Many Lives, Many Masters, and Maggie chose the one about future lives, Same Soul, Many Bodies, the ridiculous one. They often visited Foyles on rainy days.

Maggie loved that bookstore, so it could not exactly be said that she had followed him inside. That would have been completely out of character for her. She had not only felt attracted to his physique, but also the way he moved as he walked seemed so familiar; there was a very strong force there, and there had been something she recognized.

Then he absolutely surprised her; he went to the section she had least expected “his type”—the cute, yuppie geek type—to choose: he went to her mother’s favorite section, the self-help and new age philosophies section, and in his hand was one of the new age beliefs’ basic books, Many Lives, Many Masters.

This was good; it could only mean that he was new to such ideas. That was an old book. It was from the 1980s. Maybe even older. It had to be that old; she remembered a copy or two in her parents’ house for as long as she could remember. This guy, this conquest—Maggie, as many pretty young women do, conquered the hearts of men for sport—this conquest would be a breeze. It was then that he felt different, when he spoke and she heard his accent, an accent so familiar to her from the cinema and the telly, the accent of all the handsome men of her fantasies, an accent that made him even more appealing. Unlike the man she had just met, Maggie was very aware that she was a hopeless romantic.

REVISED EDITION

Experience this incredible quest, through the eyes of the author, and also the fictional characters of Maggie and Bill, who discover their connection to this event through a series of past life regressions. Mystery, love, reincarnation, discovery, and life abound. ~ 5 star review by RE

This has elements for the romantic, the mystery buff, and the history buff that will keep you reading until the end. ~ 5 star review by Teresa Watson

M C V Egan catches you in the first chapter and doesn’t let you go. You are sucked into both the historical story as well as the personal and paranormal stories that are intertwined through the book. You are wrapped up in the three main characters in both this life and their immediately previous life and enthralled in the winding trail of research that they follow together and separately to join the two together. Recommended. ~ 5 star review by FBTR

This is an EXCELLENT book! If you have been passing up Bridge of Deaths by Mcv Egan, well, cut it out! This book is VERY well researched. Excellent story with a blend of romance and mystery. I almost passed it by because I’m not a big history buff, BUT I started going thru the reviews and decided I had to go for it! This is one of the most interesting books I’ve read in awhile. From the first few chapters, I was invested in seeing where the story would take me. I was interested in the characters and completely captivated by the plot. ~ 5 star VERIFIED PURCHASE review by Tina “UF and PNR Romance fan”

The story is simple. Reincarnation and real research works in tandem to bring two lovers destined and the past together. The real story is that this book is not close to fiction. Little of this novel is fiction and that adds some wonderful spice to the story. ~ 5 star VERIFIED PURCHASE review by Wanda “Wandah Panda”

M.C.V. Egan is the pen name chosen by Maria Catalina Vergara Egan. Catalina was born in Mexico City, Mexico in 1959, the sixth of eight children, in a traditional Catholic family. From a very young age, she became obsessed with the story of her maternal grandfather, Cesar Agustin Castillo–mostly the story of how he died.

She spent her childhood in Mexico. When her father became an employee of The World Bank in Washington D.C. in the early 1970s, she moved with her entire family to the United States. Catalina was already fluent in English, as she had spent one school year in the town of Pineville, Louisiana with her grandparents. There she won the English award, despite being the only one who had English as a second language in her class. In the D.C. suburbs she attended various private Catholic schools and graduated from Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland in 1977.

She attended Montgomery Community College, where she changed majors every semester. She also studied in Lyons, France, at the Catholic University for two years. In 1981, due to an impulsive young marriage to a Viking (the Swedish kind, not the football player kind), Catalina moved to Sweden where she resided for five years and taught at a language school for Swedish, Danish, and Finnish businesspeople. She then returned to the USA, where she has lived ever since. She is fluent in Spanish, English, French and Swedish.

Maria Catalina Vergara Egan is married and has one son who, together with their five-pound Chihuahua, makes her feel like a full-time mother. Although she would not call herself an astrologer she has taken many classes and taught a few beginner classes in the subject M.C.V. Jennifer Theriot – Jennifer Theriot hails from the Great State of Texas. She is a career woman, working as CFO of a Texas based real estate investment firm by day and does her writing at nights and on weekends. In her limited spare time, Jennifer enjoys being outdoors; preferably somewhere on a beach curled up with a good book. Spending time with family and friends, listening to music, watching a baseball game and enjoying a good bottle of wine are usually on her to-do lists. She’s mom to three grown children and ‘MiMi’ to three grandkids – all of whom she adores!

Diane Rinella – Enjoying San Francisco as a backdrop, the ghosts in Diane’s 150-year old Victorian home augment the chorus in her head. With insomnia as their catalyst, these voices have become multifarious characters that haunt her well into the sun’s crowning hours, refusing to let go until they have manipulated her into succumbing to their whims. Her experiences as an actress, business owner, artisan cake designer, software project manager, Internet radio disc jockey, vintage rock n’ roll journalist/fan girl, and lover of dark and quirky personalities influence her idiosyncratic writing.

Christine Ardigo – I’m a registered dietitian/personal trainer who writes Women’s Fiction novels in my spare time. When weight lifting, rock climbing, white-water rafting, and jumping out of airplanes wasn’t enough, I decided to fulfill a dream I had as a child: to write a book.

I’ve lived in New York my entire life and can’t imagine living anywhere else. I have the beaches, the bay and the city, all a half hour away. I’ve built memories here with my husband, two silly daughters and a bunch of crazy friends, all whom I love very much.

Robyn Roze – Robyn Roze lives amongst the cornfields of the Midwest and telecommutes as an accountant. Her passion is writing romantic women’s fiction with enough steam to fog a Kindle screen. Writing was a childhood dream of Robyn’s. She won creative writing awards as a girl and teachers encouraged her to pursue it as a career. Robyn’s stories contain one key element that her readers love: a strong, independent heroine.

When she’s not spending time with her fictional families, she loves to spend time with her real one: her high school sweetheart, their two moody teenagers, and a pampered rescue mutt.

Dee Ernst – Dee always wanted to be a writer, but life kept getting in the way. Finally, in her forties, she thought it was time to give writing a real shot. After many rejection letters, she self-published Better Off Without Him. A Different Kind of Forever was released in April of 2012. In the spring of 2013, she signed with Montlake Publishing and launched her third title, A Slight Change of Plan, that fall. Better Than Your Dreams was self-published in August, 2014. Dee finds a lot in common with all her heroines, including living in New Jersey.

Aubree Lane – Aubree Lane lives in the beautiful foothills of Northern California with her husband, two wonderful sons, and a super special peek-a-poo, named Tanner. When not managing the pooper-scooper, Aubree enjoys warm sand, hot sun, and the cool waters of the Pacific.

Her motto: Write Until Your Butt Hurts, and Your Eyes Are Crossed.

Kelly Cozonne – Kelly Cozzone was born in New Martinsville, WV. After spending 15 years in Myrtle Beach, SC, she finally made it back to her adopted hometown, Austin, TX. In addition to being an author, Kelly writes for ‪Examiner.com and shares her thoughts and stories that strike a chord in her on her blog. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Women. When Kelly isn’t writing the mystery stories she loves, she is following her beloved Texas Longhorns. An avid football fan, she spends her fall months rooting on her favorite teams.

Jill Cox Vogt – Originally from the mountains of Tennessee, Jill Cox Vogt has published poetry in literary journals, including Appalachian Heritage, and won top honors in national poetry and short story competitions. While she never set out to live throughout the United States, from Florida to Montana and several places in between, she’s chalked it up to the gypsy in her soul. Her adventures were worth it, but she landed in Louisiana with her husband and dog where she enjoys swimming, chocolate, and books.

Rebecca Warner – Upon moving to Miami after college, ‪Rebecca Warner found herself competing for equal position and pay in the male-dominated banking world. She chose to project femininity and confidence, and to “hit ’em with her smarts,” which proved to be a successful strategy. Consequently, her stories are built on the tenets of sexy, feminine and smart women who pursue what they want in love and life, without fear or apology. She and her wonderful husband of 27 years now live in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina with their two rescue dogs.

Nan Reinhardt – Nan Reinhardt is a writer of romantic fiction for women in their prime, who for the last 20 years, has earned her living as a freelance copyeditor and proofreader. But writing is Nan’s first and most enduring passion. She can’t remember a time in her life when she wasn’t writing—she wrote her first romance novel at the age of ten and is still writing, but now from the viewpoint of a wiser, slightly rumpled, menopausal woman who believes that love never ages, women only grow more interesting, and everybody needs a little sexy romance.

Golden Heat and Loving Therese by Ju Ephraime

In celebration of the release of

Ju Ephraime’s new book…

Golden Heat

Contemporary Steamy/Erotic Romance
Publication Date: July 11, 2015

Set in the beautiful state of New Mexico two very strong minded individuals found themselves thrown together while working on a project. And, as it inevitably happens, Andy and Bernie were not able to be in each other’s company for more than five minutes before the heated sparks begin to fly. Not wanted to mix business with pleasure, Bernie fought it with everything she got. While Andy tries to be the stronger one, but there was no fighting the golden heat that came alive whenever she and Andy were in the same room. It was so bad, on more than one occasion Bernie contemplates severing the professional relationship and going hog-wild on Andy, but she persevered, that was, until the final day of the project, then all hell break loose.

Andy rushes into the lounge area of the Crown & Bull where he’s meeting Bernie. Taking a seat where he can observe the entrance, he orders a Scotch on the rocks and sits back to wait a bit. Just then, a strikingly gorgeous woman walks through the revolving doors. This is the kind of woman who drives a man to drink, he thinks sardonically.

It takes him a moment to realize she’s coming toward him. Man, she’s gorgeous; beautiful is too mediocre a word to describe her. She has a body that makes a man twitch just watching her, and he has the itch. He’s so busy trying to conceal the evidence of her effect on his body that he is taken by surprised when she addresses him.

“Mr. Redfield? I’m Bernie Harp.”

The voice is a husky contralto that makes the blood vacate Andy’s brain and rush to his masculine parts. He has to take a deep breath to slow down his heart rate. His powerful physical response to the woman irritates him. God damn it, he was expecting a man. Jonas never told him the investigator was a woman. He’d foolishly assumed, with a name like Bernie, it had to be a man. —–, he needs a moment to get himself together. So, instead of responding immediately, he sips his drink that the waiter had put in front of him a few moments earlier. Without saying a word, he lets the mellow taste of the liquor course its way through him like a kiss from the lips of a sensuous woman—like the one standing in front of him now, with her hand extended. Only after the taste on his tongue has dissipated to a shimmering echo of heat does he look up. Why, he asks himself, would a woman who looks like this, be named Bernie?

…Ju Ephraime has re-released her book…

Loving Therèse

Contemporary Steamy/Erotic Romance

Original Publication Date: June 21, 2012

Foxx LaCasse is a player, on and off the field, until he met Therèse. He’s athletic, handsome and hot-blooded, with vengeance on his mind.

Therèse is an intensely passionate English woman, who refuses to follow convention and chose instead to select her man from the natives of the French Caribbean island of Martinique, Foxx LaCasse. When she began to receive threatening notes, asking her to stay away from Foxx, she fled back to her home in England, without giving Foxx any explanation. Now two years later, she is back on the island, trying to pick up from where they’d left off, but Foxx was having none of it. He had one goal in mind; to have his way with her, and discard her, as she had him, two years ago. But when he finally reunites with his beautiful, passionate, elusive target, he finds himself offering his protection and his heart.

Filled with Ju Ephraime’s trademark sensuality, characters you love to hate and men you wish to love, Loving Therèse will have you enthralled with its unexpected plots and refreshing style, as these two destined lovers, recaptured and embraced their love.

With a barely suppressed growl, Foxx brought her head around to his as he lowered his mouth to hers. He ran his tongue over her lips before moving to the corner of her mouth. He was reacquainting himself with familiar terrain, his touch almost reverent in its gentle intimacy.

Then he moved to the soft lobe of her ear without fully taking possession of her mouth. Having him so close, yet denied the full taste of his mouth, had her blindly seeking it, wanting the full pleasure of his kiss.

Moving with a sudden urgency, he caught her in a deep, soul-searching kiss that had her whimpering and straining to get more of him. He gave it to her slowly, as if releasing and revealing himself a little piece at a time.

Each kiss from him was followed by a slight nip at the corner of her mouth, only to have his mouth returning to hers in sweet abandonment, as if to take away the sting. She was so enthralled that the stings hardly registered. His ravishing mouth became the only reality and sweet reward to her sex-crazed mind.

Again and again, he went back and forth between her ear and her mouth before dipping down to the pulse beating wildly in her neck. Her nipples were stiff from the friction of rubbing against his chest, and her panties were damp with her juices. She wanted him so much that her body temperature rose and she broke out in sweat, causing a rivulet to run down between her breasts. This was too much for Therèse. The rhythm of her breathing became frantic as she felt herself almost on the verge of an orgasm.

She wanted to wrap herself around him, to feel him deep inside her as he took her again and again, as only he could. Desperate to reach fulfillment, she tried pressing down on his rigid cock, but this proved too much for him, as, with a harsh curse, he suddenly broke the kiss and lifted her back to her seat.

Therèse felt so bereft she wrapped her arms across her breasts where her nipples were still tightened into hard, painful knots. She rocked back and forth, making a keening sound, which had Foxx looking at her strangely. She didn’t know what to make of that look, but she could tell both of them were equally shaken by this interlude.

“I can take only so much,” he muttered, as he lowered the window of the vehicle to give them some much-needed cool air, lessening the sexual haze fogging up the vehicle.

The knowledge that he was not in full control and was willing to reveal this to her filled Therèse with a mindless excitement that remained with her as he eased the vehicle back into traffic.

It took a while for the sexual tension in the vehicle to simmer down. Then, with one smoldering look from Foxx, she was back to burning up. His heavy-lidded eyes were a deep green, the brown all but gone. That look had her squirming in her seat in anticipation of their next encounter.

In less than twenty minutes, they were pulling into the first stop on Foxx’s trip, a local farm he was visiting. He got out of the vehicle and came over to her side, holding out his hand to her. She placed her hand in his and immediately felt the heat of his firm grasp as he helped her from the car.

Lowering his head, he made as if to reach down to her lips, but with a muttered curse, he swung around and went striding toward the farm. The owner came out to greet him, and began speaking in French.

“Bonjour, Foxx, que vous a amené ici aujourd’hui?”

Foxx answered him in English. The other man responded in English, and they continued the conversation in that language.

Therèse was grateful for Foxx’s consideration. Although she could follow the conversation in French with no problem, she felt better when she did not have to translate everything in her head. What she did get immediately was that Foxx asked for cognac. She wasn’t surprised; cognac was the drink of choice on the island and most homes had it in stock.

“Do you want something to drink, Therèse?” he asked after he’d introduced her to the owner.

“If I may, a long, cool drink with lots of ice will do me good,” she replied as she watched Foxx down the drink he was handed and hold out his glass for a second serving. This one he sipped slowly.

In no time, Foxx had concluded his business, and they were on their way to his next stop. They visited two other farms, but Foxx didn’t spend any time there, he was in and out. He appeared to be in a rush, and she sat back and watched as he pushed the vehicle to its limit.

Reunion by Maggie Ryan

In this, the third book of the best-selling Hunter’s Ridge ReunionCoverFINALseries, twin sisters, Louisa and Lucy, are looking forward to reuniting after several months apart. Though they correspond regularly, letters are nothing compared to being together, sharing their lives, and whispering their secrets to one another.

Anticipation has caused both to be naughtier than usual—but their husbands, who are also very strict Papas, have no hesitation in reminding them what happens when their Little brides test the rules.

After a very educational evening visit to Miss Eleanor Summers’ school, Louisa’s eyes are opened to what might be if she continues her bratty ways—and her attitude is quickly adjusted. Lord Edward Wintercrest has not only taken possession of an intriguing box from Eleanor to share with his best friend and Lucy’s Papa, Lord Lucas Huntington, he has also ensured that the long carriage ride to Hunter’s Ridge will offer his precious little lady comfort and distraction from boredom.

Lucas’ family is excited about the upcoming visit as they prepare for the holidays and the final ball of the season. And Lord Stefan Northbridge is not one to sit idly aside when there is a chance to do a bit of matchmaking. Will Franny be able to trust another suitor after her narrow escape from the clutches of Lord Drakemore?

Is Ettie ready to put away her childhood toys as she enters the grown-up world, or is she looking for a man far more like her brother than Lucas realizes?

Only a few things are certain: no matter what the future holds for the others at Hunter’s Ridge, both Lucy and Louisa will continue to be cherished and coddled by their husbands—and their Papas will always be there to remind them of their vows to submit. With their unwavering love for these precious women, and unfaltering attention to their backsides whenever they step out of line, this reunion exceeds both sisters’ expectations.

Once again, Maggie Ryan, the queen of Victorian ageplay erotica, combines love, friendship, humor, and delicious scenes of discipline and lust to tell a story that is as heartwarming as it is sexy.

How much of your books are realistic?

This is hard to answer. Some of them contain a great deal of my real-life experiences and memories. My historical ones are the least realistic I suppose but I do try to research actual events, dates, clothing, and items mentioned in the books. For the rest of it, I rely on my imagination.

“You’re going to love meeting Emmie, Louisa,” Ettie said, as she slipped into her chair. “I’ve been waiting to go to their house for months. You know, her Papa let us choose a kitten for her birthday! He is so cute, I can’t wait to see how much he’s grown.”

“I’m looking forward to meeting both Emmie and Socrates. I feel as if I know them already, as Lucy writes about them quite often. Do you know who else is attending?”

Ettie looked a bit flustered at the question. “I don’t know. Bea, do you?”

Bea looked up from her bowl of soup. “It isn’t necessary to share a guest list, Ettie. I’m sure that whomever Lord Northbridge has invited will be quite pleasant.”

Ettie shrugged. “Well, I suppose, but I wanted to play with Emmie and not just eat dinner.”

Franny gave her sister a look. “You need to remember to be on your best behavior. It’s a formal dinner party and not like the ones they shared with us when they visited.”

“I just hope it isn’t boring.”

The others laughed, and Lucy assured her that she doubted any time spent with Emmie would be boring. Her assurance seemed to settle the question as they finished their luncheon.

Molly sent Franny and Ettie upstairs for their naps and when Ettie pouted, stating that she wasn’t tired and wanted to work on the jigsaw puzzle, Molly shook her head.

The men were gone, Lucas having taken Edward into town to meet another prospective business partner, and Frank was somewhere on the estate. “Your brother’s absence leaves me in charge, young lady. Are you trying to see if I’ll ignore your naughtiness? Whining little girls lose the privilege of attending parties; boring or not.”

Ettie shook her head, her eyes widening, and Lucy wondered if they did so because she hadn’t given a thought to being spanked by Nanny Molly, or if she was suddenly terrified that her pouting had just caused her to lose the invitation.

“No, Nanny Molly. I’ll take a nap.”

“I thought you might,” Molly said with a smile. “I’ll be in to check on you in a moment. I suggest you are snuggled in your bed by then.”

From the Author:

I have been writing stories as long as I can remember. I am an author with Blushing Books. I enjoy writing both contemporary erotica as well as historical books set in ages past. I love developing characters that are able to tell their own stories. My heroines are multi-faceted women who are strong, intelligent and capable in their own right but find a deep need to share their lives with those strong, sexy and dominant alpha males that capture their hearts. My heros recognize the gift of submission for the gift it is, loving and protecting the women that offer that gift. I enjoy sweet, romantic stories with just a taste of domestic discipline as well as one that explore the harsher D/S lifestyle. I also enjoy writing age-play stories set both in Victorian era where women didn’t have a great deal of power in their lives as well as in today’s present time where women still find their happiness is greatly enhanced in offering the gift of submission. My hope is that you settle back in your favorite chair and allow my books to entertain you and let you escape into another world.
