Today's post is all about featuring our newest canvases. They are the heart and soul of our gift and home decor lines and this latest batch is a good one. Lots of new ones in many different sizes.
Let me give you a tour!Breathe
My favorite sentiment on this canvas is "ask for what is needed." That's a hard one for me, and I'm learning that receiving what we ask for is even harder. Which of course, is why we gotta breathe, pracice courage, be gentle on ourselves, and trust that it will be okay. This one is available for purchase online here.Growing Trusting Dreaming
This is our largest canvas in this new batch. Garden inspired, it's all about those important steps toward keeping possibility close to our hearts. She's available online here.
Calling All Hearts
Calling all hearts: your family (and the world) needs you to be brave with your lives. That's what it's all about, no? Being brave with our hearts, brave with our lives - it will inspire those in our homes and those in our global community. This one is available online here.
Surrender Your Fear
Loving the butterfly and flowers. My favorite sentiment in this piece is toward the end. It reads, "Come back to your center. Celebrate everything." I'm a big believer in celebrating the tiniest of smallest steps.
The rest of the canvas says: Surrender your fear. Hold onto what matters.Be brave.Stay true to your voice.Embrace change.Write a love note (to yourself).Come back to center.Celebrate everything.
She's available online here.Celebrate Everything
Surrender your seriousness. Yes, yes, yes. I need that to be a daily mantra, no? This little 6x6 is available online here.Dear Girl
Inspired by an old Hopi Proverb, We are the ones we've been waiting for, this one is for us girls. It takes a lot of courage to look inward and realize that everything we've ever wanted lives inside us. We just have to see and believe it. She's available online here.
More Living
This piece was inspired by togetherness within our partnerships and marriages. One of my favorites and it's been reproduced beautifully as a 6x6 canvas. It's available online here.Remember
Right? Right. I think this one is perfect for anyone in transition (which is all of us, most of the time, no?). You can find this powerful one online here.Seeker of Light
Probably one of my all time favorite canvases. She's a seeker of light, of truth, of possibility, or peace, of grace. And she's available online here.Follow The Whispers
Another of my faves. This question always takes me home, back to my center. Also loving her huge vintage butterfly wing. You can find her online here.Your Beautiful Story Matters
And isn't it the truth. You beautifully messy complicated story DOES matter. You gotta tell it. You can purchase this 6x6 reminder online here.
Thanks, friends. Our mission is to continue to create products that blend creativity with meaning, beauty with function. I so love what I do.
Warmly,
Kelly Rae

Around Here Lately
My dad. He's awesome. He built this sweet little row of birdhouses for us. I love the colors he chose. I love the white picket fence he created for them. I love the little metal pieces on their rooftops. We put ours in our backyard where the roses and dahlias and jasmine and other goodies are growing to our delight.
Speaking of my parents, they recently created and attached a kid's library as an annex to their little free library. Seriously, people, how cute is that? I'm thinking we'll have my dad do the same thing to our Little Free Library (which remains the best community building move we've ever made).
Loving these family selfie shots. And loving instagram, still. I think it's the best social media invention, ever ever ever.
We're getting a new front porch. I will not complain about how projects like these take double the time and expense as originally planned. I will not. Instead, I will welcome what it will be. And what it will be is a natural wood floor (and steps and rails), golden and gorgeous. Excited.
They are the bested of friends, these two. And it makes my heart swoon that they stopped to capture this heart while on a hike together. Love, love, and more. Sometimes it's hard to not be the one at home all the time with True. While I love that John is the stay at home parent, I find myself a little envious of their time together, wishing I could be a part of the adventures every singe day. So, when they take photos like this and send them to me while I'm at work, I feel much more a part of things. It's not easy being a working mom and it's not easy being an at home mama either. The push and pull is always, always at the surface.
Beth and I are back are in the throw of some serious Skyping. We're rebranding Hello Soul Hello Business and getting it ready to relaunch with a brand new website, classroom, and ecourses. We are beyond excited. Have you seen Beth's new Do What You Love website? If not, it's a must.
Loving that my hair is growing out just a little bit so that the flips are out. Loving that my yellow shoes that I bought with Mati Rose all the way back in 2007 are still in happy condition. Loving that my mom made me an awesome new tunic (thanks mom!) that I'm certain I will wear a million times. I'm wearing it right now, in fact. For those of you interested, the pattern for it is right here.
Made a trip to Cost Plus awhile back and spruced up our outdoor digs. The weather is perfect these last many weeks and outdoor dining has been awesome.
Do not know how I landed the jackpot, but I am grateful, everyday, beyond measure, for this little dude spirit in my life. I know you know what I mean, mamas!
I just got home from a quick trip to Charlotte. There was a day at the spa with my childhood BFF. There was a long, two day business meeting for a potentially big opportunity. I hope it happens! Having grown up in the South, there were all the Southern comforts of grits and endless sweet tea and chicken and dumplings and southern accents and humidity and friendly people and a sense of ease.
Happy to be back home, though. And ready to enjoy these last few weeks of summer. Lots of art making coming up, too!

Food Changes Everything
Welcome to a new series called Food Changes Everything. In this series, I've asked my health coach, Lacy Young, to share some of her wisdom with you - everything from delicious green smoothie recipes to how to make those hard, but life-affirming small step changes around food. Lacy didn't always take care of herself. And neither have I. Luckily, she changed her food habits which changed her life. And now I am learning, through her, how, in fact, food changes everything.
To start the series off, I've asked Lacy to share the story of how it all began for her. Prepare to be inspired......
It makes perfect sense that getting sick would lead to being passionate about health. I just never in a million years thought it would be my story.
me with a freshly placed sticker for my love project, Campaign For Confidence, June 2013Just breathe. I'd say it to myself all day long. Mid sentence I'd have to stop, gasp + wheeze to try and force air in. In 2004 I started experiencing difficulty breathing. It took nearly 2 years to get a proper diagnosis; Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis. It would take seven surgeries and two more years to have the surgery that would remove the mystery scar tissue growing in my trachea.
It felt like I was breathing through a coffee straw all the time.
After a devastating first attempt at the big surgery in December 2007 everything changed. We flew home, moved up our wedding and got married in February at the Wynn in Las Vegas among our friends and family. Looking back I see how being sick was nudging me to LIVE FULLY and I can't help but feel tremendously grateful.
February 3, 2008
The surgery was a beast. I spent a restless night in the ICU in the most pain I've felt to date. I had a chin stitch (It was really more of a tether that attached my chin to my breast bone.) for seven days and was in the hospital for ten. My sweet new husband and family were by my side. It was a long time for all of us. I kept a Caring Bridge page throughout the event and loved journaling there so much I started my blog shortly after (my first blog. my now blog). Another gift from the scar tissue.
my neck felt like sheet metal from being in this position for a week
Once I could breathe again I committed to healing.
I gained a considerable amount of weight over the four years of sickness. Physical weight, emotional weight. I self-soothed with the foods I'd grown up on. Steak, potatoes, ice cream, Pillsbury orange danish rolls (man, I loved those), frozen pizza, lots of cheese, fast food, candy, cookies, brownies, Little Debbie snack cakes. Never met a sugar or dairy product I didn't like. I thought I was making the healthy choice buying Lean Cuisine frozen dinners and ordering chicken instead of steak. Almost all of my food came out of a box or was processed in some way.
Emerging from that place was WORK. I started making slow + steady changes with the help of a health coach. I did what I could do at the pace I could manage. Some days we spent the entire hour talking about switching from white rice to brown rice and then I'd go and make that one change. It took four years to gain the weight. I gave myself 4 years to take it off. Seriously. I treated myself so gently and still the process was humbling and at times infuriating. I bumped up against every old idea I had about dieting, about weight loss and about suffering to see results.
I spent 6 months with my coach, Jennifer. My experience was so profound that I went to school to learn more. Honestly the entire time I was in school I was thinking 'oh I may do this for work, may not... we'll see.' About mid way through school I started seeing clients and never stopped. I've been coaching for three years now. This work is the best kind of high. I love being a part of transformation.
My desire to empower + inspire started as early as I can remember. I've always known I wanted to reach many people. Health Coaching is one of my vehicles for genuine loving service.
I teach people how to build beautiful meals + deeply meaningful lives. We journey together, co-creating every step of the way. We shine a huge flashlight into the dark places and light up possibility through the power of food. We get real. We get conscious. We identify and move the big rocks and little pebbles that have been blocking the path leading to your healthy life and body. Yes, it is about the foundations of food but that doesn't even begin to sum it all up. It's about believing in your dreams and finally, finally having the tools to power you into action. It's about radical love and self care. It's about lowering cholesterol and blood pressure without having to pop a pill. It's about forgiveness. It's about authenticity. It's about the beauty of leafy greens and raspberries and infusing color into your world. It's nutrition meets therapy in the best kind of way. It's like the movie theater that serves beer. Best of both worlds! It's that good. And yes, I'm a beer drinking health coach. It's all about balance, ya'll!
So that's me in a nut shell. I'll be popping in around here from time-to-time to talk about life, love + the food that fuels it all. I'm so happy to be here sharing some of my stories with you. Thank you oh so much for reading.
With love,
Lacy

I had this tiered fruit basket sitting around and wondered what else I could do with it.
I also had a ton of photos of all my found hearts. An idea hit me...
I created a photo mobile by simply turning the tiered fruit basket upside down. I then punched holes in the photos and tied them to the upside down basket with various strands of ribbon. I had a ton of photos, so I glued them together, back to back.
I hung it up in my new shared studio space. Love, love, love.
Friends, HOW CUTE IS THAT?

Soul Shine Studio Tour!!!
We're all moved in. Soul Shine Studio is, like, a real thing. I share it with three amazing artists (Flora, Pixie, + Lynx). We make art here. We write here. Gather here. Teach here. Lounge here. Eat here. Play here. Work our asses off here. I can hardly believe it. We even got ourselves a real deal logo with a tag line and everything:
Soul Shine Studio: Awakening Creativity, Igniting Community, Radiating Possibility
We are so excited to have a space that blends together all of our art, and our collective vision for what we want to create here. We had our open house a few weeks ago. It was crazy good and it felt wonderful to open our doors to the blessings of new beginnings.
For those of you who couldn't make it to the open house, I wanted to give you a tour of our space. Welcome to our home away from home!
The space is sort of broken up in thirds. Here's the lounge/living room area:
I love how this space blends all of us together: Flora's beautiful painting above the green couch and her Balinese umbrella. Pixie's gorgeous painting and art above the yellow daybed. Lynx's incredible hanging installation, her meaningful alter that she built with the mantel, her Turkish rugs mixed with my rugs. My art on either side of the mantel....we really wanted the space to hold all of us. And I think it does, beautifully.
Here's our entry way: We converted an old column into a coat/bag holder. How cute is that? Also loving the chalkboard door (Lynx's sweet son arted it up for us)
Our "kitchen" space:
And the view to the other side of the space:

This is the creative space where art gets made. Looks quite tidy in this photo as we spruced it up for the open house, but normally not so pretty :)
The rolling carts (blue and grey) are from Ikea and worth every penny. Love those things.
Also really happy with this awesome tiered rounder. It’s large, super functional, holds a million supplies and looks perfectly industrial in our big space. LOVE. It's from Create-ologie and they offering my readers 10% with code "KellyRae". How cool is that?
Loving this little corner. Paintbrush chandelier. Check. Vintage wallpaper and basket. Check. Old screened door (found on the side of the road!). Check. Cute rolling carts. Check.
This particular three-tiered rolling cart also came from Create-ologie (use code "KellyRae" for 10% off anything). Perfectly industrial, perfectly functional, and perfectly amazing for holding gobs and gobs of paint. It was important for us to create a space where we could move pieces of furniture around pretty easily to accommodate all the ways in which we’ll use the space (workshops! gatherings! art making!), so the more rolling pieces, the better.
Loving our wall of bookshelves and sewing table. Lots of storage underneath the tables, too.
Every studio needs a tutu'd stool, right?
Table lamp + basket = floor lamp. How cute is that? Also, Lynx's curtain is probably my favorite thing in the entire space. Love it so.
Love the tiered display piece? It's a part of my home decor line and is available here.
My dad built us each a desk made from old reclaimed wood. It's hard to tell in this shot but we each have our own little computer station.
Here's a little peek into my section. By the way, the perpetual calendar is amazing and the dream big pillow is a fave.
Hope you enjoyed the tour, friends. Lots of goodness will be happening here. Sign up for the newsletter if you wanna stay informed!
XO,Kelly Rae

NEW Products!
Hi friends,
Every summer we release a batch of new products out into the world. I'm really proud of this latest release and wanted to share a glimpse of a few of the new goodies! Super excited....we're trying a few new product formats and I sure hope you love them as much as I do. All of the product links below will take you to an online shop that sells my products or, if you prefer, you can search for a store near you in our handy dandy new store locator!
This is probably my favorite batch of new canvas wall art that we've released in a long time. This new batch includes several of the super popular 6x6 canvases (celebrate everything, ask for what is needed, remember who you wanted to be, calling all hearts, more snuggles --> aren't those awesome names for wall canvases? Love!)
The new wall canvases also include a few of my favorite images of all time, like the 16x16 Seeker of Light and the 8x12 What is Calling You. We've also got a couple of larger canvases in this new batch, like the 18x24 Blooming and the 12x16 Surrender Your Fear.
This is a new spin-off from our earlier version of the Take What You Need sign. More decorative + sustainable, I am LOVING this new version. Inspired by the old hymnal board slides, you simply choose the metal tags from the bottom hooks and slide them into the slots above. How cool is that? Put it on your desk, kitchen counter, or anywhere you can take a moment to practice a daily little ritual of pausing, breathing, and taking what you need. Get yours here! Perfect gift if I do say so myself :)
Friends, lots and lots of new journals, including the above favorite, Embrace.
OMGoodnes, we finally made ourselves a magnetic perpetual calendar! And this beauty is not kidding around. It's gorgeous. And big (20x20). The best part? It will last a lifetime, year after year. The other best part? Each month has it's own beautifully designed magnet strip with affirmations to go along with each month. Friends, this might go down as one of my favorite product releases ever, ever, ever.
Lots of new boxed notecard sets, including these lovely thank you cards. Go get em!
This is a new format for us and I'm digging how they turned out. They're magnetic photo holders. There are four of them, and Celebrate is definitely my fave. Love how these turned out. I think they'd make a thoughtful gift for any occasion.
Back in 2009 we released a collection of paper-mache-like ornaments that have been wildly popular over the years, but I'm happy to report we've updated the collection with an entirely new collection. Same well-loved shapes and materials as the old ones, but with new designs. The result? LOVE! Check out the
We've added three new hanging decorative art girlies to the growing line. Besides our wall art canvases, these continue to be our best selling item. I've always loved these. The newest release includes Blooming, Embrace Change, and What Is Calling You.
Super excited about this. You can buy our brand new packs of inspirational magnet strips for your fridge OR, friends, you can buy them for our ......
......brand new magnetic angel! Build your own girl with our magnetic affirmation strips! Or turn her into a perpetual calendar with our "year of possibilities" magnetic strips. Love this new format.
And last but not least, the scarves. The scarves! Friends, the scarves are GORGEOUS. It's like having a super cozy beautiful piece of art around your neck. I am completely smitten with how these turned out. I'll share more details in a future post, but for now, the above sneak peek. Go get em!
Friends, thanks for letting me gush. It's a mighty big endeavor to release new products (we do it about twice a year) and I'm always so excited to show you what we've come up with.
Love,Kelly Rae

Around here lately
We had our Soul Shine Studio open house a couple of weeks ago. Holy smokes, so many people came (thank you!) and it was big fun. My whole family came and I felt major gratitude for their part in making this happen and celebrating it with me. The studio girls and I were a bit delirious by the day's end and got a bit silly on the floor. Love these photos. And I'm just loving sharing the space. I'm working on a post with a proper photo tour of the space - coming soon!
I went to see Jen Lee's new documentary, Indie Kindred, with these lovely friends (Pixie, Jessica, Viv). You have to go over and watch the trailer. I thought it was really special.
True found his first sidewalk heart and while he was at it, he found a hickory nut with a face. I can hardly believe he'll be three in a couple of months. Loving his life. He continues to be obsessed with music, instruments, making up songs. If it's not music, it's biking, scootering, or anything with a ball. We all have our moments but mostly there is rhythm and calm and sweetness and sillyness. He is easy going, this kid.
I've been taking lots of time off with my family for rest, nurture, day trips to the mountain, to the coast, to the gorge, and just time together. I figure work can wait. These summer days are so few around here, I don't want to miss them. Besides, after the last few weeks, my heart has deeply needed the tending. Just really grateful I have the flexibility.
Our yard is in full bloom right now with dahlias and roses and lavender and more. Did you know that artichokes, if not harvested, eventually bloom into giant purple flowers? Amazing and awesome.
I've read three of these memoirs in the last couple of weeks. I'm on a major memoir kick and often think of writing my own. I suppose I'm doing some R+D with all this reading. I love how we find ourselves connecting to people's stories. I even found myself in some small ways totally relating to Steve Martins memoir on his journey into stand up comedy.
I believe this with all my heart. Time in the studio does nothing if not heal my heart and nurture my soul. I've been working on big canvases. Can't wait to show you.
Excited to share some exciting news with you guys soon.
Stay tuned,
XO

Parenting is the most important and profound responsibility any of us will ever have. And yet parenting skills are not part of a high school or college curriculum. Whether we are a birth parent, a step parent or a God parent, we truly are responsible for the well-being of another person. And yet, for most of us, we are just learning to take care of ourselves. Though being a parent is not easy, it is simple. The more straightforward and sincere we are, the more sacred our relationship with our child can become.
“Our children do not belong to us, they do not come from us, they come through us.” Kahlil Gibran
Please explore our entire product line, we have something for everyone!

GUEST OF HONOR: Lacy Young, Health Coach + Creator of Campaign for Confidence
GIVEAWAY: Two people will receive a month of coaching (two sessions) with Lacy.
SPECIAL OFFER: $50 off the most popular group session offered each year, Foundations of Food: Thriving Through The Holidays beginning September 3rd. Enroll here.
ABOUT: I grew up a mac + cheese eating, steak + potato loving, Betty Crocker cake baking kid! I loved every second of it. Fruit appeared in the form of fruit roll ups. And veggies? Well, I would eat a salad every once in a while if it were properly blanketed in ranch dressing!
My journey to health began as many do after profound sickness and adding fifty extra pounds to my body. Ugh! I literally started at square one. What's a green? Why do I care? How do I make it NOT taste like fresh mowed grass?
The magic of health coaching is that it's about meeting you wherever you are and offering gentle, loving support, accountability + tools to reach your goals.
Do you want to lose weight? Lower cholesterol? Get off blood pressure meds?
Curious what all the fuss is about over juicing + green smoothies?
I'd love to support you on your journey to health!
