One of my favorite people @acekgray her heart is a beautiful thing #Repost @acekgray ・・・ Alright guys, this is a sort of serious, sort of important but hopefully kinda cool post. Recently my Portland family (read the family that makes every day special even though I'm half way across the country from my mom and dad and brother) has been deeply affected by both breast cancer and suicide. My heart breaks for the battles my friends fight both inside and out. They. Are. Precious. And undoubtedly unicorns. In honor of my friends, I want to do a few things . 1) hug all my friends. Everyday. 2) tell all my friends I can't hug, I love them as often as possible. YOU MATTER! 3) donate a dollar of all sales from my books between now and October 1st (when I'll participate in the Suicide Prevention Walk) to either local suicide prevention or breast cancer outreach. 4) celebrate life and love with a surprise sale on both STRICTLY BUSINESS and BAD FOR BUSINESS. This is the first time they've been on sale and 100% of proceeds for the sale period will be split between my charities of choice. 5) (God I can be long winded when I'm lovey dovey) ANYONE who shares this post and tags me is entered to win ANY work of mine, future or present. We're talking signed paperbacks, ARCs, whatever - to be drawn September 1st. 6) if you donate to a cause that matters to you between now and September 1st, send me proof and receive ARCs in perpetuity from me, forever and ever . Twenty five years ago today I married my favorite person. I was 20 and he was 26 when we went on our first date, that night seems like yesterday . He made me laugh harder than anyone I’d ever met, and I felt so grown up dating such a witty-sexy-as-all-get-out “older man”. Three years later we married, then moved from Chicago to a small farm in Wisconsin to chase our dream of living in the country and becoming entrepreneurs. We started our first company from an unheated chicken coop, humble beginnings to say the least. For my 23rd birthday John gave me three pregnant ewes, our menagerie grew into a damn near zoo. Nine years later we gave birth to twin boys, then sixteen months later another son then five years later another son. Four remarkable young men. We’ve built homes and businesses… chased our dreams… followed our hearts. Never for a day have we lacked passion for the way we live… or for each other. We’ve gone through some wild twists and turns, have had misfortunes and triumphs galore. And the remarkable thing is, after all these crazy scrumptious years, I can still say I married my favorite person....and he still makes me laugh harder than anyone. I love you more than cake darling, thanks for asking me to be your girl . xxx
