Basically I make sure to have a solid structure to any story, with everything preprared, characters, main plotpoints and how everything should flow, and then, purposefully leave certain holes to fill when I actually write them.
For example, in an action scene, I put the characters against a near-impossible obstacle but don't plan the actual way to solve it, instead, I sort of roleplay the character during the narration and try to solve it "on the fly" in the most interesting way I can come up with.
This style ends up being applied to most moments and scenes.
If on the other hand, I can't even come up with the proper structure, then I take that as a sign that I should look somewhere else entirely, as I may be stuck inside a box.(less)

So the best way to speed up the sequels is by sharing the book!(less)
