I’m still unsure about that blindfold design on Lady Justice. They say it is a symbol of impartiality, that justice ‘sees’ nobody as special, that all are equal under the Law. But I’m starting to believe that they blindfolded Lady Justice so she wouldn’t see the many ways legislators use loopholes to circumvent the law, the way the rich feed the monster of corruption, and the way Law in general is used to keep powerful ‘interests’ strong at the cost of weakening humanity. Even then, the joke is not on the good Lady. The joke is on all those who suffer to be heard, seen, and understood in this world. Someday perhaps Lady Justice will drop her scales if only to lift that dang blindfold of hers. It doesn’t go with the rest of her look anyway.
