Nine Days of Giveaways

The last Allie Beckstrom book, Magic for a Price, came out this week and I asked readers what I should do to celebrate. You all had great suggestions, so I’m going to try to incorporate as many of them as I can.

Starting tomorrow, Saturday November 10th, I will be blogging (hopefully) once a day for nine days. Each day I will talk about one of the books in the series, share secrets, make comments, and maybe post cut scenes (though I don’t have a lot of those, really.)

If you leave a comment on...

Magic For A Price is Here!

And we made it!!

Today, the last book in the Allie Beckstrom series is out! HUGE squishy hugs to all the readers who’ve given Allie’s story a try, and even bigger hugs to those of you who stuck it out with her all the way to the end. You are awesome!

I feel like there should be some sort of end-of-series celebration (other than, you know, writing the spinoff books with Shame and Terric), so I’m opening the floor to you, dear readers.

What sort of thing should I do to celebrate? Giveaways, perhap...

Quick Update + Signing

This weekend is both Orycon and World Fantasy Convention. Life has conspired to keep me (mostly) away from both of these awesome events, :( though I’ll try to pop into Orycon on Saturday if I can. So if you see me wandering the halls, I hope you’ll come on over and say hi!

Good news: you can get your hands on a signed copy of MAGIC FOR A PRICE two days before the official release day! I will be signing MAGIC FOR A PRICE and other books at Powells in Beaverton, as part of the huge Sci-Fi Authorfe...

Magic For A Price – Excerpt #4

I blogged over on the Deadline Dames today about a few crafty things I’ve been doing. If you want a look at my new yarn organizer, or are curious about whether or not I’m dabbling in epublishing (hint: I am) head on over and check it out.

Now….here we go! Another little excerpt from MAGIC FOR A PRICE. Hope you enjoy!

Hayden slurped down some coffee, looking at Terric, who was quietly eating his eggs, to Zayvion, who was doggedly working his way through a piece of toast, to Shame, who was gla...

In Which I Discover Mod Podge

The other day I went to the thrift store looking for a solution for my yarn storage. I didn’t find anything for my yarn, but I did buy a pair of adorably tacky boots that may or may not be bloodstained. I bought them and am convinced I can find a way to take them from tacky to classy. At first, I was just going to dye them, but then someone (I’m looking at you, Lynn) on Facebook mentioned Mod Podge.

I’d heard of Mod Podge but hadn’t ever been interested in crafting with it. I looked on line I...

Magic for a Price – Excerpt #3

Here is the Monday Tuesday snippet of MAGIC FOR A PRICE. :)

I so didn’t want to be the one calling the shots in this fight. I’d already taken the responsibility for one fight. People had died, people had been crippled. I didn’t think I could handle all these lives in my hands again.

You are strong, Allison. Dad’s voice was as comforting and confident as I’d ever heard.

I have no battle experience...

... you have done nothing but fight since I died, he said.

I don’t know how to coordinate a city...

Magic For A Price – Excerpt #2

Sorry for the delay! Today was my deadline for turning in COLD COPPER, book #3 of the Age of Steam steampunk series. I am happy to say: deadline achieved!

Then I found myself in the kitchen baking one of my grandmother’s recipes: Potato Spice Cake. I haven’t made this cake in over a decade. It is still an incredibly moist, lightly sweet, delicious cake. And it is especially delicious warm. Don’t ask me how I know that. *shifty eyes*

After that, the web page got weird, locked up, and wouldn’t le...

Work in progress – COLD COPPER

Had a request for a snippet from COLD COPPER. Remember, I am currently finishing the first draft to submit to my editor. She hasn’t even seen the book yet. So this snippet might or might not actually appear in the book. Please excuse the spelling and typos, etc., etc., this is a work in progress:

COLD COPPER – release date July-ish 2013

“We can’t go that way,” Rose said. “The porter threatened me with a gun.”

Captain Hink tipped his chin up so as to better sight the man standing at the door. “He...

Coffee Dog

Took the car in to the shop early this morning. Got home before sunrise and here’s how Mojo greeted us:

Coffee dog. The day just got 100% more awesome.

Magic For A Price excerpt #1

It’s been hard to pull excerpts from this book because I feel like almost everything in the book is so spoilery, especially if readers haven’t read MAGIC WITHOUT MERCY yet. Today I decided to heck with the worry, let’s just get some snippets going!

I will post an excerpt every week, usually on Mondays (I tried doing it on Friday and that didn’t work, lol) until release day of November 6th. Without further ado, snippet #1

WARNING: Spoilers ahead
