The Hats of Deadline

COLD COPPER is the third book in the Age of Steam steampunk series, and it comes out July 2, 2013. Here’s the awesome cover by the amazing Cliff Nielsen: (really, go check out his Tumblr and see his fantastic art. Totally worth your time.)

Sometimes deadlines stack up and I’ll have several things due at once. I don’t mind deadlines, but I greatly prefer when they are staggered. After all, there is only one me, and only 24 hours in a day. When I have five things due yesterday, there isn’t enoug...

chicken buddy

First, some unfinished business:

Only two of the three winners contacted me for their prize, which means I will now do a speed-giveaway. The first person who comments on this post here on my blog gets their choice of a signed copy of any of my books (Allie Beckstrom series, Age of Steam series, or my short story collection.)

First commenter has commented. Giveaway is over. (but there will be more.) :)

Half a day off

I took half a day off last week and went out yarn shopping with my sister. We found the yarn we wanted, but then we also found something amazing. This fabric:

OG Star Trek baby

That is some awesome kitsch right there! I couldn’t resist buying a half yard of it, especially when the lady at the counter told me they’d just pulled it off the truck that day and mine was the first cut off of the bolt.

I have NO idea what I should make with it yet…maybe a book bag, or a pillow cover, or a box to hold awesome things, bu...

Winter’s Harvest

Today, is a quick catch up:

Writing – I’ve finished the rough draft of HELL BENT, which is book 1 of the Broken Magic series. The book is told exclusively through Shame Flynn’s point of view, and while it is a spinoff of the Allie Beckstrom books, Shame isn’t Allie. His story and point of view is alternately darker and more humorous, I think. We do get to see Allie and Zay and many of the other characters in HELL BENT, but we see them through his eyes, which is a chuckle. ;)

I’ll get the first d...

Quick post is quick

People. I am SO close to finishing the draft of HELL BENT, book #1 of the Broken Magic series (otherwise known as the Shame and Terric books).

But I promised myself I’d do my best to blog at least three times a week, M-W-F, and here is is W already, and I just don’t have time for a post.

There are things I want to share. Stuff I want to say, (I still owe answers over on the last post--they’re coming, promise!) but I must finish this book, like yesterday.

Blogging will commence on Friday…which, c...

Question? Ask away!

chicken buddyI’m not particularly prone to making new year resolutions. I’m a goal-oriented kind of girl, and usually just set a goal and aim for it. But this year I resolved to try a few new things for my health, for my writing, and yes–for my blog!

The first resolution for my blog is I am going to post 2-3 times a week. I’ll try to keep it simple: Monday, Wednesday, Friday for sure, and only add in other days if I have something worth saying that can’t wait.

The next change is I hope to share more excerpt...

Shame and Terric books

Whew! The holidays were super-busy and a little crazy, but in the end, everything and everyone was lovely. I’ll post some pics of gifts I gave and received, but today I’m following up on a promise I made a couple weeks ago.

I am announcing the titles for the Shame and Terric series, which is a spin off from the Allie Beckstrom books. Now, mind you, these titles can still change, but right now, we’re 99% sure these are the final decisions. Ready?

Zombie Sock Monkey would eat my brains...if I had any left!

Even I can’t believe how long it’s been since I last posted on the blog!

A few things have happened, like Thanksgiving here in the States. It was a lovely meal with lovely family gathered together. We held the big sit-down dinner at our house and the food (potluck) was wonderful! I am lucky to have a family full of great cooks!

Of course about a week before the holiday, I had the urge to spruce up the house a bit. Usually I resist the u...
