Writing Thoughts
Yeah!!! first two books sold showed up on Amazon. I was holding my breath in anticipation to see the first sales. I know that more will roll in as in that I have received good reviews from all that have read the book so far.
Still working hard on the next book in the series, Witch Way Back, and a new one called Monsters Under the Bed. Even though I am working on both, Monsters seems to be pulling second place in my attention span since I have set a deadline of April for Witch Way Back.

Reading Lesson
Book is finally published and my favorite do-everything person, my honey, is now working on the marketing of Witch Way Home. We have received the copies of the book that we are using in the marketing and advertising part, and I snagged a copy and sat down this weekend and read the book from cover to cover. I know you would think that with writing, editing (A LOT!) and proofing that a person would read their own book, but I never just sat down to read and enjoy it.
The things that I have learned, besides dang I wrote a good book, was that as I wrote and developed this story I can see how I grew as a writer. I have taken a lot of classes on writing and I think, as I read the words put to paper, I have learned more from just seeing these words than listening to others telling me how to write. Hope you all enjoy this book and the others soon to follow.

Formatting Witch Way Home
My honey who is the brains that runs this show, just finished formatting Witch Way Home. We are still working toward a Oct. 1st deadline. (At least she is working hard, I’m just sitting back and watching). Seeing the book in it’s formatted form was pretty cool. Now I need to get moving and finish book 2 of the series along with the new one I have going too (Guess I can’t just sit around and watch her work anymore?)

What I Learned From Self-Publishing
As we finish getting a fantastic book ready for all our readers to devour, I think back on this walk through the world of self-publishing and what an adventure it has been. With the help and encouragement of all the people involved, it has been sometimes a frustrating, hair-pulling, but fun travel.
Some things learned is one be nice to your editor, (especially when you are married to her), two is to make sure you get your book out to your beta readers early so they have time to make suggestions. (Sorry guys), three is to have fun and not take everything so seriously.
Hope you all enjoy the book coming out and look forward to bringing you new adventures in the future.

Closing on Publishing Date
We are working hard at hitting our publishing date of October 1st on Witch Way Home. My editor, graphic designer, and marketing manager, (my honey), is steaming ahead full bore to put the finishing touches on the book. While she is working so hard on this part I am still working on the second book of the series (Witch Way Back) along with some new characters in a separate series of books titled right now as Monsters Under the Bed.

Story Morphing
It’s funny how you start with an idea for an story and how the characters in the story grow along with the story itself. Started to plan out a child’s picture book that is morphing into a full blown YA novel. Now I am working on two stories at the same time. Good thing that I can keep track of all that is happening in both worlds. Sort like reading two books at the same time (which I have a bad habit of doing).

Creating New Worlds
In my first book the main character of the story (Ceri) ends up in a strange new world. Along with creating the story and characters building a new world was one of the best things ever. As I have said in other posts I do not outline my story, but create it in my head and then write it down on my computer, and in this way I go back and forth as the story is created and fill in and subtract parts as the story evolves. (and yes I know for all those professionals out there and my writing teachers not the way to write a story.)
Now in my second story the main character is back home here in Bellingham, WA. You think you know someplace that you have lived in for a looooooooooong time, (sorry big city boy stuck in small town,) until you have to write about it and describe it. But the good thing is there as been several outside side trips with this book to make sure that I am accurate with the area I am writing about. So hey at least I get out from behind the computer for research, right?

Working the Computer to Write
I am a writer that just writes as the characters whisper their story to me. When i sit down I have no planed idea on where the story will take me and unexpected characters can pop up in the story at any time. I have a notebook that I keep my characters names in with a little background on them that I always have out, but otherwise I create the story in my head as I write. My wife got me writing on the computer rather then the old fashion way I use to pencil and paper, (like she tried with my illustrations), and I have never looked back. Now as we work to come closer to our publish date in Oct. I am finding the wonders and untapped workings of FB and Twitter. I sometimes wonder how the authors did it before all this media hoopla, digital promotions, tours and such? Or maybe it really was easier for them in a way?

Witch Way Home Teaser
Here is the first paragraph from the book Witch Way Home, just to get you hyped and ready for when it comes out in October.
Chapter 1
The room was dark and dank, with moisture running down the walls in the flickering torch light. Movement from a slight, bent, hooded figure stirs the small fire under the cauldron sitting in the middle of the room. The dark small figure slithers back and forth between an old book and the bubbling, revolting, mixture cooking in the blackened pot; mumbling in an ancient, forgotten tongue of evil. Suddenly she stops and glares into the deep, dark, crevices of the room. She cocks her head as though listening to a black whisper. As the liquid bubbling in the black pot hisses and boils over, she turns back and starts to stir the mixture. The small figure stops and glances over her shoulder, cocks her head again, then she gives a shake and a mad cackle, “Now that little brat will be brought back home where I can deal with her!”
And so Ceri adventure begins. Keep an eye on our site’s posts and KickStarter project to see when you can read more of Ceri’s adventures in Witch Way Home. The first in the series of Witch Way Books.
