When the creative flow isn't happening, I work on world-building—developing magic systems and making the setting feel more real—or character backgrounds. I might write a scene of back-story to try to work through whatever issue is causing the words to slow. I may even draw something to clarify the scene in my mind's eye.(less)

Focus your senses on your everyday life and let the details that you notice soak into your stories. Become aware of things that trigger your imagination and let your attention rest there for a while just to see what comes to mind. Pets in Space® 5—Scifi With A Touch of Paranormal

I’ve had lots of fun writing a werewolf on a hoverbike in my Scifi/Paranormal/Urban Fantasy Romance mashup Blades of Janus series. I decided to spread that fun around by adding a bit of the paranormal to The Department of Homeworld Security. For my story in the Pets in Space® 5 anthology, Rate of Return, I decided to explore a new group of sentients—space werewolves!
