Fall Foliage Cruise — Taking in Québec’s Fall Foliage
Greens, Yellows, and Reds
As we strolled through the streets of Quebec City, Ursula and I were not disappointed in our introduction to the area’s fall foliage. The colors were stunning, and of a far wider range of colors than the fall foliage we sought out in our trip through New Mexico’s Enchanted Circle (Part 1; Part 2; and Fun Photo Friday favorites). Whereas that trip gave us impressive yellows and golds set against a backdrop of mostly dark greens, this foliage was an explosion of reds...

Fall Foliage Cruise — Starting in Québec
One of Quebec’s famous fresco murals
In early October of this year Ursula and I flew to Montreal, Canada, where we spent two nights before taking the train to one of our favorite destinations, Quebec City. Flying into Montreal was much cheaper than landing at Quebec’s airport, so this is why we went this route.

Our reason for going to Quebec was to catch a cruise ship to capture the colors of fall in the Maritime Provinces and Maine before the ship headed south...

Transatlantic — Last Look Newfoundland and End of Voyage
Cape Spear
It’s been quite a while since I started this series on our back-to-back voyages aboard Royal Caribbean’s Vision of the Seas. Part 1 ran from March 18 through July 19, and took you to many destinations throughout the Baltic. I started running Part 2, showing you our transatlantic crossing, way back on July 22, and this week’s Fun Photo Friday will conclude that series as our final destination was disembarkation from Vision of the Seas in Bayonne, New Jersey.

Transatlantic — Quidi Vidi, Water Street, and around
Afternoon return to Cape Spear—New Lighthouse
Our van tour may seem a little redundant, as we returned to Cape Spear later that afternoon on our way back to St. John. But the advantage to making the same stop at different times is different lights and shadows. You’ll see more of what I mean on Wednesday with additional photos of the Old Lighthouse at Cape Spear, but until then the photo above is of the New Lighthouse there. Below are views of St. John’s taken from a distance:

Transatlantic — Signal Hill and Cabot Tower, St. John’s
Cabot Tower
Our tour van made a rather long trek up Signal Hill overlooking St. John’s, Newfoundland, with several stops along the climb. One of these stops was at the Johnson Geo Centre, from which there were some great views of St. John’s and the Basilica of St. John the Baptist:

At the crest of Signal Hill you’ll find Cabot Tower.
