Mystery Monday Book Review — Neptune’s Ridge by William Florence
Neptune’s Ridge — Murder on a Cruise ShipMy good friend, and fellow mystery author, William Florence has done it again. He has produced yet another superlative mystery novel for his Max Blake Mystery series, this time aboard the cruise ship Bonanza. This adventure is book nine in a series of entertaining and fun novels, and it’s titled Neptune’s Ridge. Indeed, every Max Blake/Caeli Brown mystery Bill writes has “Ridge” somewhere in the title. Bill also has a series of Max Blake Westerns, but...

Fun Food Friday — Schnitzel at Gashaus Burgkeller; Limburg, Germany
Schnitzel Time in Limburg at Gashaus BurgkellerAfter a busy morning of sightseeing, it was time for the three of us to stop for lunch. We’d seen several possibilities along the, but this rustic place had convinced us to come back and give it a try. So, trekking back into Old Town to where Domstrasse T-bones into Fischmarkt, we found our way back to Gasthaus Burgkeller. The actual address is Fischmarkt 10, in case you’re wondering… or wandering, as the case may be. Whichever it is, we can hig...

A Day in Limburg an der Lahn, Germany — Meandering Around Town Part 2
Café in Limburg; 12:03 p.m., 24 May 2022As I indicated in Monday’s article on Limburg, Germany, I’m going to be brief on the text this week and let the photographs taken on 24 May 2022 do most of the speaking. And to give you an idea how much there is to see and photograph in the medieval portion of this charming city, I’m captioning the time the photos were taken so you can get a feel for how quickly scenery comes up on you as you walk the streets here.

A Day in Limburg an der Lahn, Germany — Meandering Around Town Part 1
Limburg Street Scene — 24 May 2022 at 11:34 a.m.Today and Wednesday I’m just going to show off the sights around Old Town Limburg, Germany. Consider it a continuation of what we started on Monday two weeks ago with A Day in Limberg an der Lahn, Germany — Going Medieval on Foot and continuing through last week. As you may recall, following our second of back-to-back cruises aboard Vision of the Seas, we flew to Germany to spend time with our daughter and her family. This side trip was a brief...

A Day in Limburg an der Lahn, Germany — Dom zu Limburg (Limburg Cathedral)
North and east of Kunstbäckerei Hensler (from Monday’s article), along the river Lahn, is a magnificent Romanesque cathedral that dates back to 1190 (consecrated in 1235). This is Dom zu Limburg (Limburg Cathedral), and it dominates the skyline in northeast Old Town Limburg.
Dom zu Limburg (Limburg Cathedral)Let’s explore the cathedral, inside and out:

A Day in Limburg an der Lahn, Germany — The Sun Comes Out!
Stadtkirche St. Sebastian, Bischofsplatz (Bishop’s Square), Limburg, GermanyYou may have noticed in my earlier Limburg an der Lahn photos that we were a bit gloomy. Well, we weren’t. The skies were. For instance, notice the cloudy conditions in the above photograph of Stadtkirche St. Sebastian (Limburg Town Church) on Bischofsplatz (Bishop’s Square). Fortunately, those conditions did not hold as the day progressed:

Slava Ukraini
One year ago, brutal fascist dictator Vladimir Putin gleefully invaded his peaceful, non-threatening neighbor Ukraine. Since Day One, Putin’s disgraced, incompetent, and unprofessional armed forces have targeted civilians and destroyed critical infrastructure in an attempt to terrorize Ukrainians into capitulating.
That stupidity hasn’t worked .
It is now time to declare Russia a terrorist state; brand as war criminals Vladimir Putin, his generals, and Yevgeny Prigozhin; and issue inter...

A Day in Limberg an der Lahn, Germany — Seeing Red(s)
Limburg — a town with a lot of redOne of the recurring themes in Limburg is red. Everywhere. On practically everything. Red here is hard to escape, but the splashes of color seem to fit the ambiance of the city. As you stroll these streets, you are being transported 800+ years into the past, and it shows everywhere you go. But you can’t escape those reds. Or… can you?
Brown sandwiched between redsOoops. Short reprieve. Right back in the red zone:
