Random Thought for the Day
Between "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and "Fright Night," if you're into remakes of Roddy McDowall films, then this is your month. PAD

Cry "Havok"
Well, there goes the shock ending of X-Factor #230: the reveal of the return of Havok. The cover image was shown and it's being discussed all over the net. Ah well. Maybe it'll get more people ordering the book ahead of time instead of them complaining that they can't find it in the stores. Besides [...]

Final Reminder on "The Camelot Papers"
Aside from the limited edition uncorrected proofs, I will not have copies of "The Camelot Papers" for sale at Dragon*Con. So if you were planning to attend and wanted an autographed copy, now is the time to go online and get it. Just FYI, Barnes & Noble is apparently selling the trade paperback for $4 [...]

Planet Comics
Originally published November 10, 1995, in Comics Buyer's Guide #1147 That loud jangling you should be hearing about now is the sound of a wake-up call to the comics industry. I, of the Storm
I'm going to be live blogging the storm. I figure it can't be worse than the Oscars. When the "mandatory evacuation" alert came through for our area, I was somewhat taken aback. It was unprecedented. Also, in decades of hurricanes and tropical storms, no water had ever come near our house. Not even close. Yet [...]

Live Blogging the Storm
6:20 PM–Drizzle starting to fall pretty regularly. I bought a pump for the basement that I can employ if there's flooding of more than an inch. Got the wrong sized hose and had to run back to the hardware store to get the right size, but now it's all set to go. News is filled [...]

David Family Practical Jokes
Originally published November 17, 1995, in Comics Buyer's Guide #1148 And now, something completely different. Something completely silly. Something having zero to do with comics, but hey, sue me, it's my column (despite the occasional letters we get taking us to task because of what this column is supposed to be, as if there was [...]

Interesting
Amazon knocked down the price on the trade paperback of "The Camelot Papers" to match the discount from Barnes & Noble. Competition. I love it. Now if we could just get the sales rankings up to something I'd be satisfied with, like…number one. PAD

Emergency
Can anyone tell me the owner of NY license plate 65232 JN commercial plate. Post here or email me at padguy@aol.com. Right now. EDITED TO CORRECT LICENSE NUMBER UPDATED 7:38 PM–Kath got into a fender bender and the other party was being intransigent about providing information. But it's all been sorted out since then.

Movie remakes and more
Originally published November 3, 1995, in Comics Buyer's Guide #1146 Miscellaneous thoughts: There's a "public service" ad presently running in local theaters which features Julia Louis-Dreyfus talking about film preservation. It starts off with her watching a clip from The Odd Couple (the film, not the TV series). And then she explains how we are [...]
