Mighty Marvel Rumors (1995 edition)
Originally published December 22, 1995, in Comics Buyer's Guide #1153 The phone has been ringing off the hook at Chez David, and many of the calls are from folks who seem to be aggrandizing my "importance" in the grand comic book scheme of things beyond anything that I could imagine. (And, in the words of [...]

10 Years
I really can't say anything in this space that I haven't said at some point in the preceding decade. All I can tell you is this: 1) sometimes the 9/11 coverage reaches such a point of omnipresence that you just want to curl up in a dark room; 2) the Mets have been a source [...]

In Montreal for Space Cases, part 2
Originally published December 15, 1995, in Comics Buyer's Guide #1152 As I continue to be situated in Montreal, working on Space Cases, here are varied and assorted notions and incidents: Folks from Marvel and DC keep Federal Expressing me art xeroxes to script, which is perfectly fine. But what's interesting is that they keep arriving [...]

Shana's Attempt to Refurbish a Movie Theater
My eldest daughter, Shana, and her husband, Tim, are trying to get a business started in Jacksonville, FL. They are attempting to raise money to refurbish a local movie theater and turn it into a showcase. I am extremely proud of her efforts and would love to see her succeed. You can not only find [...]

In Montreal for Space Cases
Originally published December 8, 1995, in Comics Buyer's Guide #1151 Assorted bits of weirdness in my life: Space Cases, the TV series I created with Bill Mumy for Nickelodeon, has been picked up for 13 episodes and gone into production. It's scheduled to begin airing in March 1996, although that's subject to change. Since Space [...]

CBLDF/Planet Comics update
Originally published December 1, 1995, in Comics Buyer's Guide #1150 Here at BID, we're starting to get the first rumblings of the response generated by my column about Planet Comics, the comic store in Oklahoma that is facing prosecution for allegedly distributing pornographic material (i.e., comic books by such publishers as Verotik and Eros). The [...]

Kath's Art Work for DragonCon 2011
With Peter's kind permission I am posting photos of what I have in the Art Show this year at DragonCon. We have lost count of the number of people who say after the show "Gee, I wished I had known that you had X in the show. I would have bought it" The Art Show [...]

Made it to Dragon*Con
Aside from two traffic hiccups, both caused by accidents (someone else's; not us) we drove down to Dragon*Con with relatively little problem. Here's my schedule: Friday 4:00 PM–Is Traditional Publishing Extinct? Manilla/Singapore/Hong Kong (Hyatt) Friday 8:30 PM–The Dark Tower. Montreal/Vancouver (Hyatt) Saturday 10:AM–Gimme the Bottom Line (a panel on the business side of writing). Manila/Singapore/Hong [...]
