Email List

I’ve been reading for a long time that folk like me (writer’s/bloggers) should set up an email list serve. I’ve been putting that off for a long time now. There are a few reasons for that. First of all, I have little idea of how to set up a list. Every new thing I add… More Email List

Grumpy Bird Reviews: Batgirl #01

Batgirl has been one of the most celebrated of modern comics when it comes to strong women and celebrating diversity. With a new volume launching off with Barbara Gordon traveling Asia I had to pick it up. As I longterm resident of Japan I was happy to see Okinawa as the first stop. Did the… More Grumpy Bird Reviews: Batgirl #01

Grumpy Bird Reviews: Tarzan of the Apes (novel)

Sometimes I forgot that certain classic novels exist and that they can actually be read. That is certainly the case with. Tarzan of the Apes. Tarzan of the Apes Author: Edgar Roce Burroughs 1912… More Grumpy Bird Reviews: Tarzan of the Apes (novel)

A Family Day in the Park

When this is posted I’ll be standing in a bus terminal helping to organize about a hundred campers head out for a fun filled five days. Coffee Break before Camp

This is the last of my three days of rest before camp starts again. It started around 6:30am with my son letting me know he was ready to wake up and play. By 7:00am we were singing and clapping in the living room while trying to keep it quiet so the Mrs. could sleep. I… More Coffee Break before Camp

My Camp Session 1: Done

The first of the summer’s camp sessions are behind me. I’m not as exhausted as I expected I would be, but a, still pretty beat. Camp means long days. My shortest workday was 7am to 10:30pm. But work includes things like kayaking, hiking, swimming, and throwing kids into a like. Certainly beats wearing a tie… More My Camp Session 1: Done

Wayback Reviews: Captain America v5 #22-25

Continuing my re-read of the Brubaker run on Captain America. This covers the Civil War period which, while a neat idea, never quite crossed over into being a good story. Rereading this I had a worry that the big event would completely disrupt the strength of the comics. Does it? Captain America v5 #22-25 Writer:… More Wayback Reviews: Captain America v5 #22-25
