JET Interview Tips
A friend recently messaged me asking if I have any pointers for an upcoming JET interview. I started writing the response and half way through I thought this might make a useful post for anyone up for JET this year. For those who aren’t familiar, JET is the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme. The short … More JET Interview Tips

Duality of Fathering
Earlier this week I wrote about how amazing my wife is and how that makes me want to step up in being a good father and husband. I started writing that post while they (wife and son) were in the bath. When I left for work that day a powerful moment occurred. Before leaving for … More Duality of Fathering

Sequel Preview: A Fight Scene
I’m in the middle of editing. I’m pretty happy with this scene, but am on the fence as to whether or not rewrites will allow it to stay the way it is. Cursed plot getting in the way of action! Anyway, like I said, I think it is pretty fun and want to share it … More Sequel Preview: A Fight Scene

Wife and Mother
Today marks a week since we have returned to Japan. I can’t quite decide if this past week has flown by or crawled by. I look at all the things we have yet to accomplish and wonder if the time has gone a bit too fast. It doesn’t help us hit our goals when our … More Wife and Mother

Hunting for Beer
Believe it or not, I am not much of a drinker. Certainly I enjoy a taste every now and then, but I wouldn’t even classify myself as a regular drinker. More of a social drinker. I don’t have anything against drinking, but I just don’t find myself regularly engaging in it. There are a few … More Hunting for Beer

Feeling Stagnant
Here we are. It is the beginning of 2017. The morose days of self-reflection that came with the end of the old year are over. Now comes the self-reflection that comes with the new year. The good news is that it is not morose, however it is rather impatient. I know that I am hard … More Feeling Stagnant

We are still in the start of a New Year and the start of another attempt at blogging everyday. So far the results have been pleasing and there have been a few new people clicking on this site. I’m using that as a bit of motivation to introduce myself yet again to the internet world. … More Who I Am

Tuckered Out
We’ve had a pretty busy few days. All things considered the travel from my parents’ house in America to our apartment in Japan takes about 24 hours. And since I can’t really sleep on planes that makes it an exceptionally long day. The flight itself was uneventful, if long. The crew was friendly and customs … More Tuckered Out

Safe and Sound
We made it back to Tokyo with very few bumps. It’s been about 25 hours since I woke up. I have work tomorrow morning. And my toddler just got his second wind. Beyond that, I’m not sure what to say. My apartment feels small.
