Night Sakura

The cherry blossoms are in bloom. My son and I are walking home from daycare. He’s been sick and a little unhappy with me the last few days. I think it’s because he sees me as keeping him away from Mommy. The reality is that we both have responsibilities and need to trade off at … More Night Sakura

A Little Cold

My son has been home sick the past few days. The Mrs. and I have been doing our best to loom after him, and it looks like he will be able to return to daycare tomorrow. Which is great, because both of us are pretty worn out. Between her finishing her art project and my … More A Little Cold

Grumpy Bird Reviews: Iron Fist s01e09: The Mistress of All Agonies

It’s all about stamina. The need to go the distance. That’s all it’s about now. Boy, that doesn’t sound like a promising starter to this review. Iron Fist s01e09: The Mistress of All Agonies writer: Pat Charles director: Jet Wilkinson Netflix Quick Review: A big clap to Wai Ching Ho. Her performance as Gao was … More Grumpy Bird Reviews: Iron Fist s01e09: The Mistress of All Agonies

Grumpy Bird Reviews: Iron Fist s01e08: The Blessing of Many Fractures

I’ve written about the show being relatively dull. It hasn’t been so much bad as just rather average. But this episode marks a point where almost all the dialog is rather cringe-worthy. Real cheese ball stuff. Iron Fist s01e08: The Blessing of Many Fractures writer: Tamara Belcher-Wilkinson director: Kevin Tancharoen Netflix Quick Review: It really … More Grumpy Bird Reviews: Iron Fist s01e08: The Blessing of Many Fractures

Grumpy Bird Reviews: Iron Fist s01e07: Felling Tree with Roots

Are we going in circles? Which Netflix show am I watching again? Is it the one where the hero has to rescue a kid at about the halfway point? Or is it the one with spoiler spoiler spoiler at the end of a middle episode? Several shows do that? Oh. That’s a shame. Iron Fist … More Grumpy Bird Reviews: Iron Fist s01e07: Felling Tree with Roots

My Talented Wife

Rika Thomas is a superstar. There are many, many reasons for me to say that. The one I’m focusing on for the moment is her art. She did the cover and interior illustrations for my novel, Deadly Troubadours, and she has agreed to do the same for the sequel. The style she uses for those … More My Talented Wife

Day After

Four days ago I went into the mountains for camp. That means four days without seeing my one-year-old son. I’ve gone to camps before, but he’s grown so much we weren’t sure how he would react. Last night when I came back he was fast asleep. This morning he woke up. I heard him stirring … More Day After

Day 4

A successful last day. That means getting kids out and in skies. Getting them back in and getting gear squared away and rooms clean. Riding about 5 hours while keeping everyone, staff included, as happy as possible. Returning those kids to their parents and making the parents as happy as possible. And last, enjoying a … More Day 4

Day 3

Camp is almost over. As a ski camp, that means the kids have adjusted enough so that they are mostly off with their ski leaders on the hills. That also means that I have a bit more time to play. Today’s bit of play meant going down the skil hill on a plastic sled. Which, … More Day 3

Day 2

Another busy and successful day of camp. Kids and staff are spending a lot of time up on skies. I’m doing my best to help keep things smooth. One of the good things of camp is not only getting to know a lot of great people, but also getting to see those you know in … More Day 2
