“Westerns have often been considered the ugly stepchild of genre writing...”
Johnny D. Boggs

“There’s the foolish green puppy love that we start out with, then at some later time there’s the common-sense, lukewarm sense of caring that keeps a husband and a wife together.  Somewhere in between, there’s that deep love that comes once in a lifetime,”
Johnny D. Boggs, Livin' on Jacks and Queens

“was 8 years old when Congress approved this mail contract to Mr. Butterfield and his associates. Congress agreed to pay $600,000—by jingo, that be a right smart of money—and Mr. Butterfield had a lot of work to do. Stagecoaches carrying mail, and some passengers, would leave twice a week from Missouri and California, and those stagecoaches had to get there in 25 days or less. That’s 2,800 miles, meaning the stages would be running day and night.”
Johnny D. Boggs, Soldier's Farewell
