Mailing List

Hi everyone! The 100 Poems in 100 Days Challenge is going strong with nearly 75 poems written to date! Soon we'll have reached the full 100 and I plan to seqway straight into NaPoWriMo and keep writing a poem each day through April.

After April I'm going to be releasing a new poetry book. No big teasers on it quite yet as things get finalized, but if you'd like to be one of the first to find out when it will be released, email kayespivey@outlook.com subject: Mailing List to be included when that announcement comes out.

Happy writing!!

100 Poems in 100 Days Challenge

In addition to the giveaway I’m doing from January 1st through the 20th, I’m going to do a challenge. I’m calling it the 100 Poems in 100 Days Challenge.

The idea will be to average 1 poem a day for 100 days, starting January 1st and ending April 10th. Obviously not all the poems I write are going to be good, but it’s more of an endurance thing and to come up with new material. That said, to keep myself honest, I’m going to choose my favorite of the poems I’m written in the past week and share it with you guys each Saturday on both my Tumblr and my official website. https://kayespivey.wordpress.com/

America...

In light of dark times, I think the world needs poetry. I don’t know that mine will help anyone, but mine is what I have to give. I’m going to get together another giveaway and line it up for the time when Donald Trump will actually be taking office.

I hope everyone can carry on, be strong, cherish the people around them, even and especially those who are different from yourself. The holidays are still coming, you’re still allowed to celebrate and be merry and hug your loved ones.

Like in Hamilton, “The sun comes out and the world still spins.”

NaNoWriMo is here

So, I thought I'd share the working synopsis for the 2nd book in my series, which is what I'll be drafting this November:

The Sea was once protected around the Rinta islands by the fleet of Queen Jioneeva, but word is creeping out that she has taken the mainland throne. The islands are weak without her, at least, the pirates know they are and are preparing to reclaim the islands they believe are their right.
Luckily, a ship is sailing out on Queen Jioneeva's behest to support the islands against the pirate threat. This ship carries five well-known and powerful magic users who call themselves The Magicians, and one young girl named Rowan who is charged with acting as ambassador from the mainland to the islands.
Staving off the pirates seems like an easy enough task for five users of magic, except the islands are rich in something the mainland is not: Nullifiers.
Can the Magicians hold their own against the pirates without magic? Is Rowan up to her task? Can all of them face their fears and make it back to Pela safely? Not if the Pirate Queen has anything to say...

If anyone else is participating in NaNoWriMo and wants to be writing buddies, you can find me here http://nanowrimo.org/participants/sks...

Hey Guys!

Summer pretty much ended here the minute September hit, but since it's not officially over, I thought I'd write a quick end-of-summer update.

First of all, shout out and major thank yous to the giveaway winners who left reviews! You guy are amazing. I appreciate it so much and am glad you read and enjoyed my poetry! Also thank you to the rest of you who have left reviews or ratings! An Isolated Storm has over 10 ratings! Wow! I genuinely doubted I'd ever see that happen. :)

In other news, my full-length poetry book is complete. I've sent it out to several different publishers, and since this is traditional publishing it could take quite a while for me to hear back, but hopefully by this time next year Museum will be available.

The title for Museum was an exciting choice for me, because I was looking up where the word comes from, and in a loose sense, Museum is "the seat of the muses" or a place where the muses come together, so the book is broken into 9 sections, each dominated by a different one of the 9 Greek Muses. :) Hopefully that comes across!

I hope all of you had a wonderful summer and are enjoying a nice, mild (and hopefully rainy) gateway into Autumn.

As always, you can get a copy of An Isolated Storm from https://www.createspace.com/6339947 or an ebook version from https://www.amazon.com/Isolated-Storm...

The Giveaway has ended!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the giveaway this past month. A remarkable 714 people entered for a chance to win a signed copy of my chapbook, An Isolated Storm, and the 5 winners have been randomly selected by Goodreads. Congratulations winners!

Those 5 winner copies will be headed to the post office tomorrow, so they can expect to receive them within the next week or so. Then they can read and hopefully review and help spread my poems to an ever growing audience. ;)

If you entered and didn’t win a copy, all is not lost. You can purchase a copy for yourself for $7.00 on createspace or, if you don’t mind an ebook copy, An Isolated Storm is also available to purchase for Kindle for just $1.99!

If you’re mostly disappointed that your book didn’t get signed, send me a message and I’d be more than happy to work out a way to get your copy signed.

If you already have a copy, please do share it with friends, family, and/or leave me a review on Goodreads or Amazon. Your opinion and your voice mean so much to me.

Thank you again everyone! The turnout for this giveaway was astonishing and I’m so honored that so many people took the time to enter.

Last Week for the Giveaway!

If you haven't noticed yet, I'm doing a giveaway for the new edition of An Isolated Storm! https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh...

Sorry I forgot to announce it here, but THIS IS THE LAST WEEK TO ENTER! The giveaway ends on Monday and then I'll be sending signed copies of the book to the 5 winners.

Thank you to everyone who has entered so far, and double thank you with my eternal gratitude to everyone who has rated and reviewed it. You are all so kind and amazing.

I also wanted to put it out there that I love reading poetry. If you have a poetry book that you've published or self published and you'd like to do a review trade, I would be 100% behind that, so send me a message and let me know!

And thank you once again to everyone for your support. I promise new content is coming your way soon. :)

Brand New Edition!

In case you missed the news, I have republished An Isolated Storm! This new edition has a gorgeous new cover and some minor edits, so if you haven't bought a copy of my first ever poetry book yet, this is your chance! https://www.createspace.com/6339947
Also, if you can't afford a copy, or if you've already bought a copy but want a copy of the new book, never fear! I will be running a giveaway from June 29th through August 1st for signed copies! Keep an eye out for that. Also, the Kindle formatting is slightly different from the print formating so I haven't gotten around to fixing that quite yet, but I plan to release a Kindle version of An Isolated Storm in conjunction with the giveaway, so if you want an ebook copy, you can get one starting on the 29th!
Thank you all for your continuing support and feedback!
