Coming this December! I'm in a Christmas story compilation with many other wonderful authors. We each tell a story about how we were able to find the joy of Christmas amid all of the hustle and bustle.

Special Announcement: New series coming 2016

I've been waiting since September 2014 to announce this new series. But we didn't want to announce it too soon . . . Rachael Anderson had this idea to use multiple authors to write a connecting series that all had a matchmaker in it. We met at Karey White's home and started brainstorming. We wanted the series to span various eras, from historical to contemporary, which would mean that the matchmaker would time-travel, as well as possess a power to match couples together. So this series would have some magic realism in it as well.

Since the matchmaker herself had to be born before any of the stories took place, naturally that meant her story would have a historical setting. Which then . . . it seemed that I was the one selected to write it since Rachael and Karey hadn't written historical stories before. Ironically, I had been reading a few novels over the summer all set in Shanghai. So I suggested Shanghai and it all came together from there.

Each of the 12 books in the series are stand-alone stories, some will be historical romances, other contemporary romances, but they will all feature the matchmaker. The Power of the Matchmaker novella is a prequel to any of the books and tells the matchmaker's story about how she became a matchmaker.

Below is the submission letter I wrote to Covenant for DELIVERANCE, book 2:

I’m excited to submit DELIVERANCE, the second book in The Moses Chronicles series.  As we discussed earlier, the story of Moses in the Book of Exodus is not a single-volume endeavor. The exodus of the children of Israel encompasses more than two dozen chapters in the book of Exodus, and this epic story deserves epic treatment.
Book 2, Deliverance, is complete at 79,000 words.
Moses is on the run. Forced to flee his homeland of Egypt after having killed an Egyptian. And he’s reeling from the secret his Egyptian mother revealed right before his departure—that Moses was born to a Hebrew family. Overwhelmed and shocked to learn the truth of his birth, Moses wanders in the wilderness with no destination in sight. He is soon captured by the Hobab tribe and forced to work as a slave in order to pay his passage through their land. Moses earns their respect and even defends the tribesmen in a skirmish with an enemy tribe. 
As Moses continues his journey, he arrives at an oasis near the Midianite settlement, but the water is bitter. Exhausted, he falls asleep. When he awakens, he discovers that the oasis is overrun with a flock of sheep and several women who are caring for them. Moments later, a group of shepherds invade the oasis, scattering the flock and bullying the women.

And in other exciting news, EVE: IN THE BEGINNING won the 2015 Best of State in Literary Arts for Fiction. It will be available in paperback next week. I was also thrilled to learn that critique group members, Lu Ann Staheli and Annette Lyon also won for their works. Lu Ann in non-fiction and Annette for short story. As you know, Lu Ann passed away in February after an 8-month battle with cancer. Her work continues to live on and receive honors.
