PAIGE Book Launch--Spread the Word Contest

I don't usually announce "other" contests here, but PAIGE (by Annette Lyon) is part of the co-authored series I'm writing with three other authors.

OLIVIA by Julie Wright and DAISY by Josi Kilpack are already out. And mine will be out late fall: ATHENA.

You might consider them "companion" books since they cover the same timeline, but are written from a different character's point of view in the book club. A very innovative idea and a lot of fun to write (and read!).

The official launch party for Paige will be THIS Saturday, August 11, from 1-3 PM at the Fort Union Deseret Book Store. (That's the same store the other launches have been at. Great store, and fantastic manager, whom we love!)We need your help to spread the word! We're holding another spread-the-love contest, and the winner gets the following:The e-book of Lost Without YouThe e-book of At the Water's EdgeThe e-book of Their, There, They're (Annette's grammar guide)Hard copy of Chocolate Never Faileth (Annette's chocolate cookbook)If Annette's in a good mood, she may throw in some Utah Truffles chocolate too! *******I have read ALL of the above books and they are all wonderful, each for different reasons. Please go to the Newport Ladies Book Club blog to report, and from the comments on that blog, you'll be entered into the drawing.

Book Release: A Sisterhood of Strength by Diony George

In 2011, author Diony George contacted me about contributing a story to her upcoming inspirational book, A Sisterhood of Strength. I wrote about a couple of experiences that I had with friendship among women and submitted them to Diony. She included both of them in the book:

Chapter 26: The Service of Friendship
Chapter 27: Sharing the Gospel

Friendship has been incredibly important in my life. I've learned the almost anyone can become a friend. There are threads that connect us, and once we find those threads, it's amazing the blessings that can come from our association.

In Diony's book, I write about one of my earliest friends, Abby, who I knew when I lived in Egypt as an 8-year old. Being from monochromatic Utah, my first impression of her was "she looked like chocolate." We kept in touch for many years after our 2nd grade year together.

I also write about a dear friend I knew while living in California. We are opposites in so many ways, she's short, I'm tall, she's Mexican, I'm Caucasian, she's outgoing, I'm reserved, she's Catholic, I'm Mormon. She's also one of the most incredible and kind-hearted person I've ever met.

A Sisterhood of Strength is filled with wonderful vignettes about friendships between women and the tender way in which we can serve each other.

If you have a chance to read the book, please let me know what you think!

About Diony George:I met Diony in 2008 when she was writing her first novel, Torn Apart, and incredible story based on her true-life experiences of when her life was shattered by her then-husband's horrible secrets. She is also the author of a second novel, Imperfectly Beautiful. Website here

Seeking Reviewers for DAUGHTERS OF JARED

My next novel, Daughters of Jared, will be released in May 2012. If you're interested in being a blog reviewer and also posting that review on other review sites as well, please email me: heather (at) hbmoore (dot) com. I'm looking for about 10 reviewers.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
From the Book of Ether comes a haunting story of two royal sisters. The elder sister, Ash, will do anything to bring her father, King Jared II, back to the throne. The younger sister, Naiva, only wants to save her family from destruction. The bond of sisterhood becomes precariously fragile when one man . . . named Akish . . . falls in love with the younger sister, Naiva. Yet he chooses to marry the elder sister.

The sisters’ hearts are divided. And when Ash becomes queen, seduced by the promise of power and wealth, Naiva watches her world crumble away. She sees only one way out. But it will require forsaking all that she holds dear.

Covers for DAISY & A SISTERHOOD OF STRENGTH

The moment of seeing a cover of your book is one of the best parts of the publishing journey. Your manuscript finally looks like a book and feels real.

DAISY by Josi S. Kilpack will be out in May 2012. It's the 2nd book in the series I am co-writing with Julie Wright, Josi Kilpack, and Annette Lyon, called The Newport Ladies Book Club. The first book is OLIVIA, and it recently came out. The first four books in the series will all be out in 2012, released every few months. We are currently writing the next four books, so that the readers will have a complete book for each of the 8 women in the book club.

*****
This next book is by author Diony George, who put together a compilation of essays about how service between women has the power to change lives. She asked me to submit an essay and I couldn't decide between two stories, so I sent them both. Diony ended up using both stories. I can't wait to read the other contributions. This book will be out August 2012:

First Blog Reviews are in!

It's always a bit of a knuckle-biter waiting for the first round of reviews to start coming in. Last week I mailed out review copies for Christ's Gifts to Women. So when the first two were posted, I was a bit nervous to read them. But, so far, all is well.

Colleen of For the Love of Books, said, "Being out of work for so long and having some personal struggles right now in my life, this book has opened my eyes and gives me the strength to not give up and move on with my life, it could be worse." Full review here.

Sheila of Why Not, Because I Said So, said, "Even though I loved the entire book, the chapter that meant the most to me is, The Gift of Nurturing. The words found there brought a sense of peace to my heart." Full review here.
