The novel “Windsong & Requiem – Of a Great Deep” is over 83,000 words long and runs 368 pages.

Pirate fact #5 – Tools of the trade

While the rapier or the broadsword could easily have been amongst the weapons of choice for others, pirates held to the cutlass as their go-to-blade.  The cutlass was short enough that swinging it wouldn’t get the weapon caught in a ship’s rigging.  It was long enough and sharp enough for hacking and slicing an opponent!

Pirate Fact #4 – Permission granted

While many pirates stayed outlaws at sea, some were granted Letters of Marque which allowed them to attack Spanish ships and others with permission from rival governments and countries.

 

Pirate fact #3 – Their own holiday

Every year on 19th September, it is International Talk Like A Pirate Day!  It is a “holiday” that fully embraces everyone’s right to say things like “arrr,” talk about booty and threaten others with plank-walking!

Despite being feared and dreaded, there is no written record of Blackbeard actually harming or killing anyone. His reputation was so frightening that many surrendered as soon as he arrived!

Anyone seeking an amazing pirate game has got to include AC4: Black Flag.  Thrust into the chaotic life of young Edward Kenway, players take charge of the assassin-in-training and pirate-to-be.  Take control of the Jackdaw, Kenway’s ship, and wage war on the seas.  Fans of the Assassin’s Creed series will find familiar ground but newcomers to the saga looking for breath-taking pirate action will not be disappointed.

True Treasures – Bad lives, bad endings

True Treasures – While pirates were often brutal, harsh and led bad lives, the end that awaited many of them was rough as well. When a group of pirates kidnapped Julius Cesar, they ransomed his release. While captive, it is reported he was treated well. However, when he was returned to his family, he came back for the pirates with a mighty military force. The pirates who once held him hostage were all crucified.

Pirate game treasure – Deadstorm

One of the best pirate games out there is Deadstorm Pirates.  This arcade two-player rail shooter put players in the roles of two sailors at sea amidst a storm of undead monsters, giant sea creatures and treacherous elements.  Worst of all may have been the two tokens required to play each time!
