Spring has sprung
The adders are busy on the common. Yesterday evening I was lucky enough to see two of them being extremely friendly, something I haven't witnessed before. We also have a pair of great tits nesting the garden, and what looks like a few thousand tadpoles in the pond! Spring has been very late here in Surrey, but at last there are flowers on the strawberries and blossom on the apple trees. Lots of baby figs on the fig tree, too!

Creating Imaginary Creatures
I've got a new post on Do Authors Dream of Electric Books? It's about fantasy creatures, and how we amalgamate them them from different animals that we already know, as we can't imagine what we haven't experienced.

Clever parakeet!
The new invaders around here are ring-necked parakeets, which are highly intelligent. They're self-confident birds, but they do realise that they're no match for a squirrel, which is a lot heavier.
